How Good Is Dekalb High School Of The Arts

What happens if you fail a core class senior year of high school?

A “core class” is usually Math, Science, English, or Social Studies and is usually required for graduation. If one of these is failed senior year, you will likely be immediately contacted by your counselor with options. Often there is a credit recovery program (often online), or an after school program. If not, there is a summer school option. However, be very careful! If you fail a course senior year and you are already accepted to a college or university, your offer of admission may be rescinded. At the time of your offer, amid all the congratulatory paperwork, there were legal phrases that stated in order to be admitted fully (instead of the “conditional admit” most students are during senior year), you must continue your current course of study. Failing a course violates this agreement, so if you don’t successfully pass your senior classes, you might find that you will lose your spot at your chosen college. If you are facing a failure senior year, make an effort NOW to work with your teachers. Get tutoring - from friends or even the teacher. Do ALL your assignments - this is really where most seniors who fail do so. Most teachers WANT to pass you, but if you make an effort at failing, they have no choice but to let you. Don’t make the mistake of getting lazy. Just do all the assigned work and see if any of your previously missing assignments could be redone. Even a 50% grade is better than a 0%, if an instructor will allow you to get that credit.

What are the schools like in atlanta Georgia?

Ok so i go to school in Atlanta. Im in the Atlanta Public Schools area. I go to Maynard Jackson.

I can say that its ghetto. lol. no im not racists, i love all kinds of race. but its the truth. These schools are really bad. I wouldnt recommend going here. But some schools are really good and educated.

Umm.. Also the people.. OMG some are cool and laid back. but most of them are so loud and rude, always cussing, fighting and stuff. But its still fun to be here because you can be cool with alot of people as long as you dont put yourself into drama.

Grading system.. honestly i dont know. You can either make A's B's C's or F's. So thats your choice on what you would like to make. We dont really have homework. We get a project every once in a while, classwork is easy! Quizzes and Tests are easy if you know the material.

School usually begins August and ends in May. but we have a lot of days off during the year so it will go on by fast :D

No they dont require driver license. You can your Certificate of Attendence in the main office if you are trying to get your Learners Permit!

Extra activities.. They have football, Fitness after school program, Softball, Volleyball, Basketball, Art club, Book club, Soccer, DHR (a program that pays you money if you stay after school), and Photography club.. I think theres more but im not sure.

BUT this school is good and fun. Either way you learn but its just the students that make me go crazy! Just hang out with the right crowd and everything will be okay for you.

I know for a fact people will gossip about the "New Kid". They will try to be your friend right away. But i suggest dont trust them right away. Dont just stick to one person, get to know everyone.

By the way, the teachers are really cool!

well this is all i can tell you. Hope this helps.
GOODLUCK! message me if you want to know more. I been through everything in high school like fights, programs, friends, drama, etc.

What year did Rosa Parks's maternal grandfather die?

Rosa Parks was born Rosa Louise McCauley in Tuskegee, Alabama on February 4, 1913, to James McCauley and Leona Edwards, respectively a carpenter and a teacher, and was of African-American, Cherokee-Creek,[1] and Scots-Irish[2] ancestry.

According to a genealogy I have found online, Leona Edwards parents were named Sylvester Edwards and Rosena Percival. I don't know when he died, but he was in the census at least until 1920

Sylvester Edwards

I was unable to locate him after 1920. I hope this helps a little.

EDIT: If the answerer below me is correct and this IS the correct Sylvester Edwards, then here is the certificate information on Ancestry.com
Name: Sylvester D. Edwards
Death Date: Nov 1932
Death County: Dekalb
Volume: 45
Roll: 2
Page #: 22443

I am skeptical about accepting this date without further research. For one thing, the Sylvester Edwards you are researching was found in Montgomery County from 1880-1920. DeKalb County does not border Montgomery County in any way. Don't get me wrong, it COULD be him, but I'm not ready to take this as his death date simply because the names match.

Do well-funded public schools perform as well as, better than, or worse than private schools?

You would need to specify which criteria you want to compare; having worked at public, private, and charter schools in one state I can tell you that public schools have handicaps the other schools do not. First of all they are tightly regulated for state standards of all kinds and this is not always a good thing. Charter schools get exemptions which benefit students and private schools have the best because in my observation they can really cater to the needs of individual students. The private school I taught at had 5 or 6 math levels for grade 7; all the way from students doing third grade arithmetic to algebra. At the time there was a high school exit exam for the public schools; private schools were not required to pass that, which means that there was no real graduation requirement for passing algebra 1 to graduate from high school. On the other hand, private schools are ill equipped to deal with students who have learning disabilities or ADD; the school I was at highly resent IEP’s whereas public schools have entire departments full of teachers and aides to assist students. Public schools have counselors and college advisors. In LA at least, the public high schools are much larger so this allows for a much larger range of classes and choices.

What are your thoughts on President Trump considering limits on student debt?

The proposal also puts limits on loans, which will be horrible for large schools buy amazing for smaller ones. I think in general it is beneficial, since even a 100,000$ degree in anything except medicine or stem is an absolute waste. There are trade schools across the country that offer tuition got a couple thousand a year. Cannot afford to go to a 4 year 40k a semester college? Probably cannot afford to pay back that debt either. Go be a plumber and make more than the rest of your high school class.I think in general we should only give federal loans to students entering fields with a job market, but people really want their liberal arts degrees.Overall? It's fine. Doesn't do everything nor much, but overall it will deincentivize expensive arse loans for crappy colleges. Currently, colleges can charge what they want and students will pay using federal dollars. It's no wonder they raise tuition rates.
