How Hard To Build A Shed Like House Thats Nearly Unbreakable

If it's unprofitable to make something unbreakable, why should I buy solar panels?

It makes no sense to buy a product if it doesn't give you an added value. For some products that added value is entertainment, for others it is convenience or prestige and for solar panels it is something more quantifiable: return of investment. No one would buy a solar panel that will break before saving you more money on electricity than what you paid for it, because reducing the carbon footprint and helping the environment is unfortunately a selfless quality feature that most customers don't consider a factor when buying. So in that compromise if I am to sell a product and profit from it I'll make my market research, understand my reach, production and growth capacity and include it on my pricing. And the price has to be something customers are willing to pay for it, so I won't lose.Solar Panels are a relative new market: almost every house in a sunny city is a potential customer and it will take more than a decade to exhaust them. So if my solar panels last 20 years I'm fine. What you have to consider as a customer is the understanding that even if your product is eternal, there will always be a better version being developed: more efficient, easier to use, better looking and practical, new features and compatibility.... so you'll be stuck with an unbreakable but outdated product. In 10 years or less current solar panels will be terribly outdated. Good luck selling them used!As a business owner, I can always buy the old version back at a lower price and sell my loyal customers the improved version for a convenient low difference that is still profitable for me and my client's return of investment goals. And I get to recycle and reuse the materials and hence reduce my production costs. So I can keep selling unbreakable products that last a lifetime but in reality I'm always selling better versions every certain time. For my clients, I'm a great selfless company that sells products that exceed the quality standards they expect and for me I will gain brand and loyalty from people who'll keep buying from me for years to come.Win-win ;)

I want to build the longest lasting home possible, where should I build it and what materials should I use?

The reasons given by Tim Elliot are correct. You should filter those countries first, though, through geological, metereological and militar pre-requisites.You should look for a pice of land that hasn’t moved in the last 1.000 years or so, where no tidal waves can ever reach and no hurricanes, tornadoes or tiphoons ever develop, where snow is not a heavy burden, water levels due to rain are steady and predictable and where no invasion force has been in the last couple of hundred years nor is it likely to be in the foreseeable future.Welcome to Burgos - Wikipedia, where, on top of all that, you can enjoy a great gastronomy, best wines and beers, the great outdoors with plenty of diversity from forest to paramo, mountain to plains to beaches and almost anything in between in less than a couple of hours driving…And the people! All those gentle and interesting people like me! Ha, ha, ha!Jokes aside, and to finish the answer, you should most definetly build your house in stone, timber and tile or blackboard. Contrary to what Tim Boardwell states in his answer, our concrete does not keep on strengthening with time, as that of Romans do. That formula has been long lost, ours is worst. Nowadays we simply do not have enough data to assess for how long is our concrete to last, but most definetly can assess, as Tim pointed out, that properly mantained stone buildings last forever. We have great quarries of astonishing white limestone in Burgos, by the way. Many of our oldest buildings in the city, as the Cathedral for instance, were built with them.Any house built in timber and stone, with a well mantained roof will easily outlast the fourth generation of its builder, making it one of the best long-term investments there are.I hope this answer sheds some light, thanks for the A2A!

Why are some people so stunned when their spouse asks for a divorce? Shouldn't there be signs?

Its not that there are no signs, its more the fact that people have different beliefs about what a marriage is or should be. I'm one of those people that takes promises (or vows) very seriously. It took me almost 7 years with my bride before i was willing to make that promise to her. I see marriage as something that should be almost unbreakable unless every other avenue has been explored. When you take those vows you promise for better or worse till death do you part. That doesnt mean you give up and get divorced when someone finds someone better. It means you promise to do everyrhing humanly possible to overcome obsticles and remain together to share the better times with. I dont believe getting a divorce should be as easy as it is. Maybe people would be less apt to get married if there was no divorce option, but those who still made those vows would be sure before they did. Society has undermined the commitment of marriage so much that very few are left that believe what a marriage was supposed to be. This also has side effects that are also beneficial to society. For instance, i could never cheat on my bride. Because i vowed to be hers and i would not break that promise. Even though i dont always like my bride i never consider divorce as an option. It just means we need to find a better way to address issues and fix what is wrong. So long story short, some people dont see it coming because they never saw it as an option. People should be held accountable for their actions, and marriage is one that all too often is taken lightly. Dont know if my view is helpfull, but it might shed some light on things for somebody. Goid luck.

Why are Nokia phones stereotyped as being indestructible?

I worked for Nokia for a couple of years, as they were struggling to make a smartphone.I got to learn a bit about Nokia, Finland, and ruggedness. The ruggedness of Nokias was a source of national pride for Finland. There was a story in the Finnish papers where a fisherman dropped his Nokia into the water. A week later it was found in the belly of a fish, still working. These are rugged people. Their winters are long, dark, and brutally cold. Everything they build - from tool sheds to lamp posts - has this simple and elegant design of wood, metal and brick. You get the sense they intended to build it once and only once. Presumably because nobody wants to go fix it in a -40 °F blizzard.A Finnish house by a prominent architect, it looks like it would shatter Godzilla’s foot :I learned a Finnish word the Fins use to describe themselves: Sisu. It doesn't translate well. It means something like 'unbreakable'.The Soviets tried to invade Finland in WWII. Finland's population was 3 million, the same as Massachusetts. The Soviets sent a million troops, expecting to shock them into a speedy surrender. The Fins mowed them down. Over a hundred thousand Soviet troops lay dead and frozen in the snow (estimates range from 150,000 all the way to a million). Lacking anti-tank guns, the Fins destroyed 2,000 Soviet tanks by jamming logs into the treads and tossing Molotov cocktails into the gas tanks.Sisu. Unbreakable. These are people who relax by sitting in a sauna and then jumping into ice water. These are Norsemen who scratched out a living above the Arctic circle. They don't know the meaning of 'disposable', and built Nokias after themselves:To withstand anything.

What's the best upholstery for a home with dogs and cats?

I did mention fabric choice in my answer belowBe prepared to replace the cats furniture. That’s right, that’s not your furnature, that furniture belongs to the cat now. It’s clearly stated in the cat slave legislation, under cat law, section ‘where one marks their territory, section 8.Now, your cat will choose to treat HER furniture in anyway she pleases. You don’t get a say in how she treats items that she claimed first. In other words, you didn’t mark your territory, she has. It’s the rule. The privilege of cat ownership requires you to replace your cats furniture a little earlier than if it were furniture that belonged to a human.….that doesn’t mark his territory on it.To reduce your cats need to constantly mark her own sofa with the scent from her pads (scratching), the WORST choice is fabric sofa with a wooden frame, like those $200 sofas you get from Fantastic Furniture etc. the best choice is tiger skin, be prepared for your cat to live in constant fear of the sofa, especially if you glue eyes to it (don’t you dare!), leather itself is a product that will rather attract or not so you’re in with a chance. Dark black and dark brown, no chance, they’ll scratch it. Grey will get scratched too. The only leather that I know of that doesn’t get scratched is the leather sofa my cat owns at home. My cat scratches everything except this particular sofa. She even scratched vegan leather. If you walked into my living room you would believe there was an invisible cat fence around it.It’s from ikea, it’s cream. It costs about $200. It’s super comfy but gets grubby rather fast. You’ll just replace it more often when it gets too beat up.I have fostered many cats in my home and not one has ever scratched this particular sofa.Don’t have another cat mark bc that would be a declaration of war (cat legislation ‘acts of war’, section 2), which may cause your cat to feel the need to scratch that other scent way out of it.Here’s a picture of my cat on her sofa. Good luck with it!

How much would it cost to build a 8ft/12ft wooden deck 3ft high.?

The type and quality of materials chosen determine the total price. Pressure-treated wood and other materials for a small, 8-x-12-foot do-it-yourself single-level rectangular deck average $450-$800; having someone do the work bumps the price range to $800-$1,520.
Pressure-treated wood such as southern yellow pine (which might splinter or turn gray over the years) costs $10-$16 a square foot installed, or $960-$1536 for a flat, 8x12 foot deck.
Redwood or cedar, which can last up to 20 years, is $18-22 a square foot or $1728-$2112 for 8x12.
Durable teak-like tropical hardwoods are $22-24 or more installed, or $2112-$2304 for 8x12.
Virtually indestructible plastic-wood composites are around $20 a square foot installed, or $1920 for 8x12 feet. Low-maintenance vinyl deck systems, which include rails, range from $13-22 a square foot installed, or $1248-$2112 for 8x12.
Rails, steps, benches or overhead arbors all add to the price tag. Having a contractor install an 8x12 foot multi-level deck with railings and stairs averages $819-$1280 or more, depending on the complexity of the design and the type of materials.

All figure given above were a rough guesstimate based on generalities, the figures below are actual statistic base on general consumption.

RemodelingOnline publishes an annual report on specific home projects, listing average prices nationwide and by nine US regions; its 2006 estimates for a deck addition are $13,462-$16,297for 16x20-feet (Your 8x12 would be $4,173-$5,052) using composite material installed in a simple linear pattern, with a built-in bench and planter, steps and railings, all supported by pressure-treated joists and 4x4 posts set into concrete footings

How should I prepare for buying a Siberian Husky?

The Sibe and Pom getting along will only be answered by them meeting. A lot of places require that the dog meet any household members, furry and otherwise, before they let you have the dog. This is always a good idea.
There are loads of things you need to know before buying a husky. They are not a typical, run of the mill dog.
Huskies require a lot of attention and exercise. They are bred to RUN. If you have a small apartment or house this could be an issue. If you are not active, or do not enjoy running, biking, or the like you should probably stay away from a husky.
Huskies love to chew...this means they need toys and bones...lots of them. Stay away from cheap toys. Kongs are great.
If a husky is bored, he will get into mischief. And sometimes he will get into mischief even when not bored! =)
Bottom line...a tired husky is a happy husky.
They are extremely social and do not like being left alone for long periods of time.
When they are left alone they will have to be crated or leashed. I learned this the hard way. They will destroy your house. They love chewing and shredding.
They are extremely smart and curious and will learn to open and get into all kinds of things.
They should never be left alone outside. Unless fenced in they will run off and will not come back. Even then, they will try anything to get out. They will climb their way or dig their way to "freedom." You will always have to use a leash when walking them.
Huskies can also be very difficult to be trained. They are extremely stubborn so no matter how well trained if they don't want to do it they won't. Treats however, almost always work! They are easily bribed. Establish dominance early on, huskies need to know who is boss. They are much happier when they know who is in control. Not to mention you will be as well.
They enjoy playing games. Hide and seek is best! They love receiving attention and can be jealous at times.
Huskies are also not a good guard dog. They are very trusting and will be your best friend in an instant! They don't bark a lot but do have a tendency to howl.
Hip and eye problems are a common myth with Siberians. It's simply not true.
I think it's great that you are asking questions before you get a Sibe. So many people get them because they are beautiful and aren't prepared for their many "quirks".
Congrats if you do get a husky.

Could asking a question like "What are the best deterrents to potential burglars?" make some of the deterrents less effective if burglars read the thread?

Hypothetically the answer is "yes". This excuse is used for national defense too.But for practical reasons, the answer is no because most of the deterrents are physical deterrents, not psychological ones. Reading the suggestions in that thread I see that almost all of the suggestions are difficult to circumvent, which is what makes them a deterrent. As a burglar, I gain no extra access to your house because we both read the list that includes:Lock your doors and windowsGet a dogDon't hide a key outsideGet a safe and bolt it to the floorKnow your neighborsUse laminate windows because they are unbreakableNote here that it is not the knowledge that has any utility. It is the implementation. If you don't follow these suggestions, they have no impact.
