To what extent did the Catholic Church succeed in achieving its goals during the Counter Reformation?

The first goal was reforming a corrupt Church and to a large extent the Catholic Church succeeded in that goal. They outlawed the selling of indulgences and the buying and selling of Church offices. They also established a formal system of education of priests that the whole Church was required to follow, leading to a more ethical and educated clergy.

The publication of the Catechism of the Council of Trent was a lucid response to the arguments of the reformers, and the Jesuits - the Society of Jesus - spread across Europe and the world, founding schools and colleges that were highly regarded by all. The Jesuits more than any other segment of the Catholic Church, were responsible for restoring a great deal of souls to the Catholic Church.

Are happiness and satisfaction the ultimate goals for everything?

What do you think that why were uh gifted life by GOD ? It is completely illogical that GOD made you born to be happy and satisfied. Reason is deep.GOD ported us on EARTH for a very hidden task and that is possibly to help the mankind.Didn't get that ? Let me explain. Each and everybody of us is same by 99.9% of DNA but there is a uniqueness of 0.1% . And it is a very probable fact that there are some hidden truths of life that have to be invented or found by us and if we fail then may be they go hidden . For eg :- Charles Babbage invented Computers . But think if he would have not worked hard to invent it. Would uh be using thousands of games,Photoshop,bla..etc . Vasco da Gama founded India , but if he would have slept and be rejoiced and would have not worked or sailed through the sea ? Then nobody would have knew about India-Bharat-Hindustan apart from our neighbours.Happiness and Satisfaction are not the ultimate need of ours. I won't say that we dont need them but they are partial truths and needs of ours. Let's say, uh are happy and satisfied with being on bed and chilling but till when ? If uh don't work and earn , how would uh survive in the era of capitalism. Do uh wish to be liable on your parents ? Nopes , then work hard as hard as possible because work and passion also yield shappiness and satisfaction. So , find the area of your interest .Then toil hard and then uh might say that actions and hustle are the ultimate goals for everything.|| Thanks for A2A ||~Ahad

Since 1960, a major goal of the Native American Indian right movement has been to...?

1. In the 1960s and 1970s, watching both the development of Third World nationalism and the progress of the civil rights movement, Native Americans became more aggressive in pressing for their own rights. A new generation of leaders went to court to protect what was left of tribal lands or to recover that which had been taken, often illegally, in previous times. In state after state, they challenged treaty violations, and in 1967 won the first of many victories guaranteeing long-abused land and water rights. The American Indian Movement (AIM), founded in 1968, helped channel government funds to Indian-controlled organizations and assisted neglected Indians in the cities.

When it was created, what was the goal of the Indian National Congress?

The Indian National Congress come into existence at the mid-day on Monday, December 28, 1885, the Indian National Congress with emerging elites of middle class intellectuals propounded their theory about peaceful political action and public protest. In a society with multifarious religious and cultural manifestations, ethnic diversities and economic higher-ups and lower-downs echelon, it was a pluralist, flexible and open-ended organization, once a movement, able to continue in power and simultaneously able to snuff out unprincipled factions upholding at least twin objectives at that time: to arouse nationalism among the Indians and to make India a united nation.POST INDEPENDENCE GOALS OF THE INDIAN NATIONAL CONGRESSSocial liberalismGandhian socialismIndian nationalismSocial democracySecularismDemocratic socialismBut what Congress did after independence was completely in contrast with there goals:An Indian Professor, Md. Ayub Mallick, puts it in this way:In search for truth and “Swaraj” from Raj, Gandhi preached the gospel of non-violence and class harmony. And Nehru and other Congress leaders declared that the Congress was to be turned into an electoral organization or into a party to win electoral battles and sit on the saddle of power or at least into a Gandhian organ of constructive programme, i.e., transition from movement to a party or from mass politics to elite politics. Thus pragmatism or “real politik” began to replace the ideals of socialism, truth and non-violence and watered down Marxism into a milk-water Fabianism. „As the dominant party, the Congress attracts many Indians who have hardly any ideological affinity to it but want to use the organization as a stepping stone to public offices… Congress has become fully immobile in the trial of its reconciling image as a “movement of social reconstruction” with the task of a political party.‟ (Hartmann, 1977:52-56). Radicalism and pragmatism were well-balanced (Aggarwala and Aggarwala, 1985:54) as the expedient manipulation of middle class nationalism and democratic socialism. So to conclude, Once the greatest political party in the Indian Political arena, today we have a Congress…which we all are ashamed of.Thank you. Hope it would help you.
