Digital journalism also known as online journalism is a contemporary form of journalism where editorial content is distributed via the Internet as opposed to publishing via print or broadcast. What constitutes 'digital journalism' is debated by scholars. However the primary product of journalism, which is news and features on current affairs, is presented solely or in combination as text, audio, video and some interactive forms, and disseminated through digital media platforms.Fewer barriers to entry, lowered distribution costs, and diverse computer networking technologies have led to the widespread practice of digital journalism. It has democratized the flow of information that was previously controlled by traditional media including newspapers, magazines, radio, and television. Some have asserted that greater degree of creativity can be exercised with digital journalism when compared to traditional journalism and traditional media. The digital aspect may be central to the journalistic message and remains, to some extent, within the creative control of the writer, editor, and/or publisher.

Underrated Journalism Programs (And yes, I know journalism is "dying")?

Apparently no one posts in the "Media/Journalism" section, so I'll try my luck here.

I always hear of Columbia (Who's only graduate anyhow), Northwestern, UCal Berkley, Ohio U, Oregon, etc, but what are some often underrated journalism schools (undergrad). And yes, I know it "dying" or "evolving" or whatever you call it, but don`t touch on that, just give me some names of schools.

How has journalism changed over the years?

Nice question journalism has really changed over the years. In earlier day journalism was base on writing article, writing report, editing it and then go to press. as there was only one medium know as print media.Later when tv media came its became more and more video shooting on event spot. live reporter came and then anchor role came who sit on studio panel and represent the news in their style. then now its started debating just for TRP. there was huge race between these channel for TRP. they keep going done from journalist to paid media, biased media etc.Now after 2015 digital media came in booming. media like youtube, twitter, fb, websites and many more, where people became freelance journalist, activist. and its better then paid media.

What are some good ideas for an advertisement video for a yearbook?

You should do a scene that starts way back then and then moves onto today. You would have to get all of the clothing and costumes and stuff but that would be funny. Some evolution thing.

Or you could do a Budweiser commercial spoof

Or you could do a T-mobile/At&t spoof

Or you could do a music video and add your own pictures and funny things

Or you could do a movie preview thing

Or you could do a contradiction thing like Starburst

GOOD LUCK!

How did yellow journalism contribute to the Spanish-American War?

Yellow journalism did aid in the propaganda that the Spanish were responsible for the Battleship Maine explosion in Havana harbor . Their unfounded accusatipons led to the fervor to fight the Spanish to drive them out of Cuba and the Pacific because we desired the annexation of Hawaii and the Philippines was the buffer we needed. Thus their journalism nade the US look patriotic but it also instituted US in the role of imperialism and the foundation of becoming an overseas power.

What are some examples of good journalism changing the course of history?

To my mind at least four elements are in play. Was the story truly revelatory? Did it result from great initiative rather arriving neatly packaged from a source? Was it a game-changer? Would its facts and consequences have emerged anyway? Few stories meet all of these tests as well as the Washington Post Watergate coverage or Seymour Hersh's stories on the My Lai massacre, but sometimes it only one or two, especially if the impact is dramatic enough.  Morley Safer's televised report of troops burning a village to save it may have had more to do with turning public opinion against the Vietnam War than anything else, for example, and David Corn's story on the Mother Jones website exposing the "47%" video almost certainly altered the course of the 2012 campaign.  Yes, Safer and his crew happened on the village destruction and Corn was presented with the Romney video but each appreciated the significance of the story before him and knew what to do with it.I have had the chance to weigh these factors for the past 37 years as a jurist for America's premier prizes for investigative reporting across media, the George Polk Awards, and some of my favorites were about far more local subjects than war or the Presidency. One that comes to mind was a series of stories in a weekly paper in rural Maine about a fire in a ramshackle multi-unit dwelling that exposed neglect and corruption in a statewide subsidized housing program and led to profound changes.
