How Individuals Can Develop And Practice Positive Values And Act Positively In Business

What are the positive effects of urbanization? What are the negative effects?

Pros:Increased economic activity and appeal.Boost ot local culture.Services and shops become more accessible and there are more of them.More homes for a growing population.Promotes multiculturalism and social integration.Growth of tourism.Cons:Crime rate rises.Environmental damage and loss.Neighbourhoods can lose sense of community and character.Congestion.Overcrowding and higher demand to provide services and employment.Cost of living rises.Slums can arise from a large influx of low-income residents.Strain on providing services and amenities.Lifestyle changes can become more unhealthy (increased car use).Urbanisation is a double-edged sword. The benefits of urbanisation can also reach out beyond the city limits though. When a centre urbanises, it becomes a hub for surrounding villages and towns and attracts commuters and shoppers. In turn, it prevents them from urbanising but allows them to benefit from the economy and employment opportunities offered by the city/town centre. This is really evident in the UK near London. Surrounding towns benefit enormously from the economy of London. They get a boost to business and economy because it’s cheaper for businesses to set up there as opposed to in the centre, plus, the towns become attractive residential areas for people who work in London but don’t want (or can’t find) a house in London. The surrounding counties grow enormously because of this but the effects are more far-reaching. Since London is a hub for business and employment, major towns outside of London which are connected by rail become hubs for their local areas and experience their own growth and urbanisation. This could also be viewed as a bad thing though. Many people don’t like the fact that London’s influence bleeds out to surrounding towns and counties, they are afraid of being ‘swallowed’ and turned into ‘another London borough’.The social implications of urbanisation can become conflicting with the native population. People don't like it when quaint, historic towns become bustling, urbanised, concrete jungles. Urbanisation destroys character and the increase in crime will make people feel less safe.

How did Sam Walton positively influence the 20th century?

I have to write an essay on him, 4 pages double-spaced, and I have all the information about him and I know all about what he did and how he did it. I am just having trouble thinking of how he positively influenced the 20th century. I need 4 reasons why for my thesis.

Oh and i know there isn't much good that he has done, but i need 2 things that are good that he has done for America

How do you respond to "how will you add value to this company?" when asked in an interview?

After 25+ years in HR, the best response I've heard went something like this:I bring my talent at X, my skill set of X, my X years of experience, my enthusiasm, my positive outlook, and my abilities of independent worker, team player, and leadership. I am good at learning new tasks quickly and I am an adept trainer to others.  I will give my effort to be successful here, thus increasing the value of this company. I bring my core values of honesty, reliability, and hard plus smart work.
