How Is Resperidone Helping You

Can risperidone get you high?

Risperidone is an anti-psychotic first of all. There are many side effects to Resperidone, that may or may not occur. As for a high? Risperidone can make you have a restless effect, but also things like suicidal tendancies, lactation from women, and apparently some men get an erection that they find hard to get rid of. I think memory can be affected with as well, like being very forgetful. It really just depends on the person taking the medication as does with all medications.
Try googling the brand, or drug, look up side effects, there should be plenty of information there.

Should risperidone help me sleep?

Hi,
Risperidone is prescribed for anti-psychotic effects. It is usually prescribed for patients suffering from schizophrenia. One of the side effects of this drug is drowsiness. Not all patients will experience it. It is not a drug to induce sleep.

Rather, Zopiclone is a sleeping pill. It is quite a strong drug and should put you to sleep within 15-30 minutes.

It is important not to rely too much on Zopiclone. The effects can wear off after some time. It can be addictive. There are also side effects to Zopiclone.

You can google on good sleeping habits and practise the habits, eg. not doing anything too streneous before sleep and not being too excited before sleep. Surely you do not want to watch a horror movie in this period of your illness and expect to get to sleep.

You may like to work with a counsellor or psychologist on how to reduce stress, depression, anxiety so that you can sleep better.

God bless you. Prayer helps me. Jesus cares for you. Jesus loves you.

Does risperdal really help you sleep?

Risperdal/risperidone is an anti psychotic not a sleeping tablet. I wonder if you got a small dose of it or if you have the full rate for treating psychosis. Why did you get it is your insomnia very bad? Not sure what insane insomniac means! If it's a low dose it may not be very helpful for sleep although it will help you stay calmer.

I was on this for a short time and then changed to Seroquel/quetiapine which is very similar and they do help you sleep if you get the full dose.

Sadly these drugs have side effects, all of them do but not necessarily the same ones. Most of them put on weight dropping the metabolic rate and making you crave carbs they can also cause diabetes. They can make you feel dozzy through out the day. Risperdal made me wet myself which is why I changed to Seroquel! I did have a problem in that department anyway.

Good luck

Alcohol and risperidone?

I think you know you shouldn't be drinking while taking it but no lecture here. I take different medications to control my Bipolar Disorder & I still get ripped every once in a while. I was on Risperidone once for a bit. It just makes you more tired depending upon how much you drink. I use to just skip it when I did go out & drink or take half.

Why did Risperidone make my OCD worse?

It is not known why this happens, but it is not unusual.Though it is not entirely clear why, antipsychotics have been seen to cause new or worsening “OCD” in people using them, regardless of the reason for use. It is not weird or exceptional, especially during sustained use instead of short term emergency use. A variety of anxiety-involving side effects have been noted as risks of antipsychotic use, and are most likely to occur during dose changes, sustained use, and the withdrawal syndromes which generally follow substantial reductions or attempts to discontinue. As mentioned by Alexander Saytsev, the concept of “OCD” is not a singular psychiatric category nor is it representing only one kind of underlying functionality (if significant differences are even seen, which they may not be). We do not know exactly why such experiences happen, on a neurological level, so we don’t have a strong grasp on why drugs can make things better or worse or cause entirely new difficulties.Antipsychotics cause severe and potentially lasting disruptions in neurological functioning. They were introduced as “chemical lobotomies” because of how potently they induce dysfunction. If you are already struggling to cope with stresses in a productive manner, antipsychotics can easily make that even more difficult by sabotaging your brain’s natural abilities, including its adaptive capacities and wider homeostatic regulation. That you saw an improvement when no longer using risperidone is a great sign! You now know more confidently that risperidone was causing this problem for you and you apparently are not stuck with this effect indefinitely. That is a best case scenario, and you should be talking to the prescriber about your reactions and finding better options. Antipsychotics are incredibly risky drugs to be taking for “OCD” that was not so severe that it could get dramatically worse from drugging.

Why would risperidone make me feel worse? if it even is at all?

to respond on one of the answers comments- for a long time i thought this was all b/c of the girl. but than, things were ok w/ the girl, everthing i wanted i could have, and i was still messed up. plus, it has just been clear, things have been so drastice, its someting more.
