How Is Roasted Aubergine For Someone Trying To Watch Her Clories Intake

Vegetables: Why does eggplant/aubergine get so yummy, when it is cooked with oil?

Many things are tastier when cooked with oil. Think about plain dried slices of potato, versus (plain) potato chips. Think about plain baked slices of potatoes, versus french fries. There are obviously plenty more examples other than just potatoes, but if you've ever tried "fries" without the oil you will immediately know the difference. So why does that happen? I don't know about the specific effect on eggplant like Jim discussed, but I can tell you that oil is the most calorie dense thing you can eat at 4000 calories per pound, and that the human body has numerous, intricate systems to ensure your survival, one of which is the detection of calorie density in the foods you eat.        Food=Some calories=ok for survival (in terms of energy).Food+Oil=Lots of calories=great for survival (in terms of energy). There can obviously be health issues with this approach, if you were to eat fries all the time you would be likely to survive based on calorie intake, but not based on health. This is an effect of artificial manipulation of the food that our bodies don't deal well with. (Man-made foods like oil and refined sugars fool your body's methods of choosing the best foods).

What are the top fruits and veggies for someone trying to lose weight?

The best ones to have are the ones that have lots of fiber, low glycemic index and are low in sugar. Fiber is really useful for weight loss, it fills you up, but it comes out the other end undigested without you absorbing it. Low sugar typically means low calories, so your body gets energy from its reserves instead. Low glycemic index means that it takes a while to digest so you don’t have sugar rush and the inevitable sugar low that follows.Top fruits for weight loss: strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, apples, cherries. When you have the option, eat the whole fruit with the skin. Any fruit is fine in moderation, but these ones are particularly helpful in satisfying the sweet cravings without contributing a lot of calories.Top vegetables are any non starchy vegetables: broccoli, cauliflower, tomato, cucumber, zucchini, lettuce, onions, celery, spinach, kale, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, squash, radish, eggplant, etc. These are really helpful for weight loss, eat vegetables in every meal, eat as much as you want. They are rich in vitamins, rich in fiber so they fill you up, and have low glycemic index carbs. There is no reason to fast or be hungry, you can always just have some vegetables.Nuts, avocado and dark chocolate, coconut and olive oil are also very helpful. They are very energy dense, you should not eat much, but a little bit with every meal makes a big difference in terms of satiety, they provide some healthy fats.

Baked OKRA not a soggy mess?

Goodgrief, six years ago I shed 107 pounds simply by eating right (as you are doing through Weight watchers) and employing my favorite kitchen trick: Pam cooking spray.

All you have to do is spritz a pan with Pam, add some sliced okra, onions and garlic, stir-frying until crisp-tender. For a change of taste, you can add chopped green peppers, diced fresh tomatoes, and a little fresh or frozen corn. This is called "Moque Choux," and it is delicious.

To this day I stir-fry everything with Pam, and I've kept the weight off all these years. The exception to this is the 10 pounds I gained by quitting smoking, but I knew that would come and I know how to drop it.

Last night I stir-fried some sugar snaps with dried citrus flakes.. I'm always stir-frying fresh asparagus or green beans. The veggies turn out beautifully, the cooking spray adds zero calories, and the stir-frying just does something for taste....

WHAT DOES EGGPLANT TASTE LIKE ?

Eggplant is like a sponge, it tastes like what ever you cook it in/with. Fry it in butter, it tastes rich & creamy. Fry it in bacon fat it tastes like pork. Cooked all by itself, I'd compare it to mushrooms.

Is it safe to eat just 764 calories in a day while dieting?

I'm just going to give you my experience because I love Atkins and lost over 50 lbs on it. The bars, shakes & atkins products that came out after Dr. Atkins passed away are foods that he was adamantly against. He promoted a clean way of eating : Fish, Meat, Eggs, Cheese, Nuts, Seeds, Veggies, Fats (oil, animal fat), Some fruits.

I have never been able to lose weight using the Atkins products. Most people don't (see Atkins Bulletin Board) I didn't gain but I sure didn't lose and it didn't matter how low my calories were. One I cut those out I lost weight rapidly. My blood sugar stabilized and it stopped my carb cravings and my sweet tooth. I had to remember when to eat because I wasn't hungry.

Here's what a typical Atkins day looks like for me:

Breakfast - Scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese, mushrooms & salsa. 1/4 of an avocado. "Bulletproof coffee" Recipe online.

Snack - Hardly ever but sometimes 1/2 can of tuna in oil with mayo, sliced cucumber, green pepper and pickles.

Lunch - Cobb, Steak/Chicken or Taco Salad with all the fixings - avocado, hard boiled eggs, full fat blue cheese dressing (Marie's has zero sugar) with a glass of iced tea with lemon

Dinner - Love to cook so it varies - 6 oz Steak with sliced tomato or Fajitas with green/red peppers, onion, meat, cheese and sour cream. Wrapped in romaine lettuce or Corn Beef & Cabbage or Grilled Chicken & Mock mashed potatoes (cauliflower, heavy cream, butter & cheddar) or Pot Roast minus the carrots or Dungeness Crab with melted butter and side salad with bleu cheese dressing.

Dessert - Usually lemon or chocolate mousse - sugar free. homemade. So good.

I track everything I put into my mouth on Fitday. I usually have a 70% fat, 20% protein and 10% carbs and 1300-1600 calories.

When I hit a stall I carb up for a day - going beyond my limit of 30 carbs per day (started at 15 net per day). Still no sugar but it usually gets the scale moving again.

I suggest you get the 2002 version of Dr. Atkins book - super Cheap used on Amazon.

The website I use for support is the Atkins Bulletin Board and I visit Linda's Low Carb recipes (online) & Sugar Free Sheila has some great ones too. I love the parmesan chicken nuggets and SOS shake.

Does eggplant have a high or low content of iron?

Eggplant is a very good source of dietary fiber, potassium, manganese, copper and thiamin (vitamin B1). It is also a good source of vitamin B6, folate, magnesium and niacin. Eggplant also contains phytonutrients such as nasunin and chlorogenic acid. Nasunin is not only a potent free-radical scavenger, but is also an iron chelator. Although iron is an essential nutrient and is necessary for oxygen transport, normal immune function and collagen synthesis, too much iron is not a good thing. Excess iron increases free radical production and is associated with an increased risk of heart disease and cancer. Menstruating women, who lose iron every month in their menstrual flow, are unlikely to be at risk, but in postmenopausal women and men, iron, which is not easily excreted, can accumulate. By chelating iron, nasunin lessens free radical formation with numerous beneficial results, including protecting blood cholesterol (which is also a type of lipid or fat) from peroxidation; preventing cellular damage that can promote cancer; and lessening free radical damage in joints, which is a primary factor in rheumatoid arthritis.

Eggplant contain LOW in iron. Our body not necessarily require high trace-elements like iron, because it often cause body-toxicity. Level of need varies from person to person, and Daily Values are based on a approx 2,000 calorie diet

Can I lose weight by eating rice?

Ok, it seems all answers here have been saying rice should not be consumed in order to lose weight. Half a year ago I would have agreed. Here’s the thing: Since August last year, I have admitted myself to a hostel in order to pursue higher studies in a place away from home. The Hostel Mess here prepares steamed rice for 2 out of the 3 meals as the main course.Initially, I would consume rice only once, and in little amount, but that made me hungrier later. For my dinner, I paid a neighboring restaurant to prepare 3 rotis that I could consume with the vegetable stew or curry the mess prepares, while skipping the rice. The plan turned out to be impractical - the rotis were overpriced, and I would still be hungry - so after one month I started eating rice itself. 6 months have passed.I don’t go to gym, but merely walk to my college department, which is a mile away from my hostel (the university campus is very large). Back home, I daily visited a gym where I ran the same distance on a treadmill, in addition to other workouts. After 6 months, I candetect my changes - my face is leaner, and my cheeks have shrunk in volume. I still have traces of my double chin, but my jawline is becoming more and more defined with each day. The layer of cellulite in my lower body is also becoming smaller in volume. All this, despite eating rice during lunch and dinner every day for 6 months. I don’t know what to believe anymore.
