Place the springs and valve carriers on to the cylinder head and press them, securing them to the top of the valve stem with split colletts.Crankshaft: Fit all bearing shells to the centre bearings and fit them to the crankshaft.Crankcase: Fit all bearings and core plugs.With the sub assembly out of the way, assembly of the engine is quite simple.Mount the crankcase onto a stand and fit flywheel housing.Fit the crankshaft, flywheel and pinion gear.Insert pistons and connect to the crankshaft via the big end.Insert camshaft into crankcase and fit hydraulic tappets.Fit fuel pump, fuel lift pump and oil pump.Fit oil relief valve and oil strainer.Fit idler gear, camshaft gear and fuel pump gear.Fit the cylinder head gasket and carefully bolt the cylinder head on to it.Fit push rods, tappets and fulcrum rockers and bolt down.Fit rocker cover, gear cover and sump.Attach pulley.Screw on both oil and fuel filters.Start to fit all fuel lines and high pressure pipes.Fit starter motor, alternator, belt, dipstick, filler caps etc.This is only a basic guide to a basic engine.
