How Its Possible To Joke In Jokes Section Without Violating Guidelines

How come I keep getting a violation for my jokes?

The Jokes & Riddles is easy to use once you understand it is not a place to just post a joke and ask people if it's funny or not. The Guidelines gives an example of putting "Is this a good joke to tell a co-worker?" but still you have got to make it a valid question by making it knowledge worthy.

You need to ask in a way as to not actually tell the joke fully. A acceptable example would be like this:

Would this joke be suitable for my 16 year old son to tell his friend?

Then in the details add:

A guy walks into a bar with a parrot on his shoulder and he asks the bartender can his parrot have a drink.

If you continue to tell the full joke, even that is disguising chat.

If I write a joke answer to a joke question then am I violating any Quora policy?

A2A. Yes, if you do not directly answer the question. However, that is not to say they will do anything. I have seen many users with great posts no human should delete, get collapsed for violations. When 65k upvotes for a post and moderation take it down, despite no offensive content, like you say a joke to a joke answer may violate rules. For instance, my history.Question :If an object fell from the sky and hit you on the head, what object would you want to hit you.My answer :Revolved around a rainbow. Uplifting message. Some humour.Violated rules. Didnt directly answer question because a rainbow obviously cant hit my head. Plenty of upvotes. But they can maybe just have a bad day in moderation sometimes. My advice? You really wont get banned unless you are insulting or offensive. Just do it :) See what happens. If they take it down, you’ll know. A lot of the time they just leave it be if people like it.Maybe Quora moderation are human after all?Hope that helps.

Why are RuneScape accounts sold with a joke?

It's against Jagex rules to sell your account for real cash. If you do, the account will be considered stolen and banned. Also a lot of scammers sell accounts then later report it stolen and recover it from the suckers that bought it and re-sell it to someone else.

For this reason, it's also against the rules to sell game accounts on ebay. Ebay will quickly remove any auctions for illegal items. So to get around the rules, scammers advertise that they're selling a Joke for $150 and you receive a free RS account with your purchase.

It's kinda like a used car dealer advertising a radio for sale for $20,000 and if you purchase the radio, he'll install it in a 2009 Ford Mustang for free. If you later complain that the car is a lemon with a busted transmission, he'll just say that you didn't buy a car, you bought an overpriced radio which works just fine.

What is the purpose of the joke/riddle category?

The purpose of that category is to ask questions ABOUT jokes and riddles, not to TELL them. It is explained by staff in the HELP page linked in "source" below, and quoted here:
"•When posting jokes or riddles, be sure to format it correctly. A story joke that ends in a punchline is not a question, and therefore in violation. Jokes or riddles that include the punchline are ok if there is a knowledge-seeking purpose to them, i.e. "Would this be a good joke to tell coworkers?" Just make sure the joke itself doesn't violate other parts of the guidelines."

Of course, this means that 99% of the "questions" posted there - are violations.

Are we allowed to post joke questions on Quora?

For any question about Questions, start here:What are the main policies and guidelines for questions on Quora? There is nothing in the policies on this page that explicitly prevent humour in Questions, but I would draw your attention to the following parts:Questions should be sincere attempts to obtain reusable informationIf your humourous question isn’t also an attempt to obtain reusable information, then you should not ask it.Questions should be clearly writtenIf the humour in your question obscures the intent, you should remove the humour. Irony especially can make your writing obscure. Often irony is hidden to those not as familiar with the topic - or with the English language. Irony is a codified joke - and by default not as clear as saying what you mean.Questions should be conciseA joke is likely to elongate your Question.Questions that constitute harassment and have the potential to make the experience of using Quora unpleasant or uncomfortable for group(s) of users may be deleted. There should not be any jokes or irony written at the expense of other individuals or groups. That certainly rules out quite a few kinds of joke.Questions are viewed as community propertyOther users may not share your humour and may well edit it out of the question and replace it with a more neutrally phrased version.Questions are stronger if they are phrased neutrallyA jokey answer is unlikely to be the most neutrally phrased version. Now some anecdotal information. One of my most success answers was for the Question: What happens if you urinate into a particle accelerator? - which is arguably one of the most absurb and humourous questions - top 100 anyway!Arguably this Question - which was written in Quora’s baby years - would not survive many of the tests above - and it probably predates many of those policies. Any answer would be barely usable - let alone reusable! But my answer, which is also jokey and humourous, does provide information about the topic - since it explains certain features of the particle accelerator at CERN which I have visited. So the answer is yes - you can use humour in Questions - but it’s better you don’t. If you do, be very careful to ensure it’s a real question for which exists a real answer. Quora is not a platform for humour - it’s a platform for reusable knowledge. Humour can be used if it helps communicate the knowledge, but it shouldn’t be used purely to entertain others with your incredible wit.

Is joking a sin?

No. God has a sense of humor. He created US didn't he? People who say that are so stuck in the rules that they can't see the light. They have no sense of the Holy Spirit. They've taken religion and made a golden calf of it when they should have been following the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Christ was condemned for breaking the law of the Sabbath, but He taught us that it was fine to do good on the Sabbath. It's the same kind of thing with joking... depending on what KIND of joke, of course. ;-)

No sense of humour - question asked on yahoo answers?

I know there are a load of twats on here.

Yes and it would be a good treat, but what you should have said was that you would take them to an all they could eat buffet at Crufts.
