Not very long, 3 - 4 weeks tops (and that's being VERY generous). 1 -2 weeks is much more likely. The only places that would keep running are in the immediate proximity of hydro electric dams. One story I read had a nuclear plant continue working, but only because the staff holed up in it and defended it. I can usually get to the high twenties to low thirties with these general rules that apply to just about any map I play: On maps with dogs or space monkeys, your first priority is getting a shotgun, preferably either the Stakeout or the Trenchgun. Your second priority is getting a good "points" gun. In other words, a gun that has a decent-sized magazine, is relatively cheap to buy, and is NOT a Mystery Box gun. Once you've secured your two weapons (or one weapon for maps with no dogs or space monkeys) you need to save up enough points for Jugger-nog so that you can buy that ASAP. Now, this rule depends on how many people you're playing with. Solo: Spend the first four rounds racking up as many points as possible while trying not to buy anything if you can help it and staying in the very first room. But don't kill yourself trying to knife zombies for extra points, it won't make much difference. Starting on round 5, you'll want to try and locate a medium-to-large room with lots of open space, preferably with some sort of obstacle in the middle of it (for example, the stage in Kino-der-Toten). This will be your prime location for racking up points and surviving for the rest of the entire game. Stay mobile and keep maneuvering around the room in what's commonly referred to as a "pain train," but not so fast that you end up running into the "back" of the "train." When you know you're getting to the end of a round, use your grenades to make at least one crawler and then take the time to repair any nearby windows and refill your ammo supply. If you're on a map with special objectives, like Ascension or Der Riese, then take care of these at the end of the round as well. Two people: Same as 'Solo' except both players do this in seperate locations on the map. It's too difficult to try and defend the same room together. Three people: One player does the "pain train" in a medium-large room while the others either move as a group around the rest of the map or defend an easily fortified position. Four people: Same as with three people.

To kill a zombie, according to most Zombie lore, it requires the brain to be destroyed. Setting fire to the corpse will most likely destroy the remaining tissue and could damage the brain but not as fast as one would like. Probably anything up to an hour depending on combustilbility. A flesh-eating zombie, ON FIRE; shambling towards you is scary. Best blast it with a shot gun or brain it with a spade.

If this same principle comes to play with zombies then maybe a year. After the first few months the number of zombies would drop off considerably. Birds would pick the slow-moving creatures apart.On a side note, muscle tissue needs to rebuild itself. As a runner sprints they are actually tearing the muscles fibers. During periods of rest, these fibers repair and actually make the muscles larger. That’s the reason bodybuilders have large muscles. If zombies are dead they wouldn’t have this resting and rebuilding process.
