The black hole of shipping? Man, that is the million dollar question that has been asked plenty of times here. If it is customs for a couple of days to a week, it is probably fine. If it goes beyond a month, you have to go through the originating shipper to discover what is holding it up. They don’t tell the receiver, as a rule of thumb, because a LOT of stuff is sent through NYC that really shouldn’t be—illegal goods, in particular. So they don’t routinely warn the receiver that “hey, that hash you tried to buy from Afghanistan isn’t going to make it to you. Sorry.” The other problem is sheer volume of inbound packages. They are perpetually backed up. I never had anything shipped to me that I knew was going through ICS without insurance (if it was worth it).In short, you are going up a bunch of red tape to find out through ICS. You probably will have better luck going to the shipper and asking them for help. Can’t help you if you are trying to bring in food, seeds, bottles of anything, or other either illegal items or items that easily get flagged. Once flagged, they disappear into a warehouse like the one in Indiana Jones.Good luck!

Probably five (5) to six (6) days. Like many things in Calif, the Postal System is troubled. Things get blocked up at the borders of the state.I can mail an envelope from Seattle, WA to Atlanta, GA almost overnight at just the regular 49 cent stamp system. It is amazing how fast mail gets from Seattle to Atlanta.When you try to mail an envelope from Washington state to Pasadena, CA — which is just two states away, it takes at least five (5) days. The Post Office has never been able to explain this. It is just part of the weirdness of California.

In all honesty, it depends on what you’re looking for.If weather is your primary criterion, you’re better off in San FranciscoIf natural disasters put you off, choose between weather (NYC) and earthquakes (SF).Both cities have a great cultural scene - NYC has more choices, but both have more than any single person can tackle.NYC is home to more media (written, visual, and audio) than SF.The Bay Area has more top-notch universities.NYC has more diversity than any city in the US - people, languages, food, etc. - for a number of reasons, including the presence of the UN.Traffic in both cities sucks, but mass transit is better in NYC.NYC has more major events (Times Square on New Year’s Eve, US Open, United Nations General Assembly, and so forth) than any other city in the USAnd don’t forget sports teams too (Yankees, Mets, Giants, Jets, Rangers, Islanders, Knicks, Nets)But SF is close to Silicon Valley and all the wonders it has (and develops).They’re both near the ocean. USPS First Class Mail? Estimated Delivery?
The key word here is ESTIMATED. That means on or near the date. It is not a guarantee, and the post office may cause a delay even when the original shipper ships it right away. Therefore the shipper should not be dinged as long as they shipped within their stated time frame, because it's the USPS that dropped the ball. Usually, even then, unless its lost, you should receive your package within 2-5 days of the estimated date. If you absolutely need it by a certain time use USPS Priority Mail. Your package should then arrive within 2-3 days of mailing 97% of the time.
