How Long Does It Usually Take To Burn An Hd Movie Onto A Blank Blu-ray Disc

How do I burn ps2 games onto blank blu ray discs or is that possible?so that I can play them on my ps3.?

im not sure because i never tried this before, but isn't the blue ray backwards compatible with DVD(ps2) disks? well anyways, you will not be able to run burnt ps2 disks if you don't put a mod chip in your ps3 or soft mod it, last time i checked there was no soft mod, and i don't really know about the mod chip, but what i do know is, that there's a way to install Linux on the ps3 ubuntu i think, and there's some soft mod using java maybe.... also there's a USB loader for ps2 games, so you might try to google that????!!!

about what the dude below is writting, well if they really did mod the ps3, that would probably NOT be the case, as how they did it with the psp, you could run new custom firmware, and you could install certain files to flash to give it functionality... PSN network was working fine, so i think this is only the case for the XBOX360 since the banning on online gaming thing is not present on the wii either

Is it ok to burn DVD 480p videos to a Blu-ray disc?

Good question.
Depends on how its encoded to the blu-ray disc.

If you go from a DVD structure, right to a blu-ray without taking the blu-ray's playback structure into consideration, I believe it will just turn into a standard file system you can look through.

What I would do is I'd encode it to a single file (Which I think you have done with the h.264 compressor) and then get a program to write to blu-ray's video format which will then create the file system necessary to playback movies.

Can you burn an HD-DVD disc to a DVD+R DL blank disc. If so, how?

Here’s the thing: all HD DVDs use the codec VC-1, which is not directly translatable to DVD. Blu-ray, OTOH, can use both VC-1, MPEG-2 and AVC [H.264]. It is possible to create an AVCHD DVD that will play in a Blu-ray player, but because of file size, you would be limited to 720p resolution at best on a dual-layer disc, and this would involve converting the VC-1 file to AVC, which is time consuming. You could downconvert to 480p MPEG-2 to burn onto a DVD, but as previously stated, what’s the point? Most HD DVD titles are readily available at reduced price points on Blu-ray now. In terms of the time and effort involved in engaging in either of the processes stated above, you’d be “spending” far more than you would gain from such a process.

Will any dvd player play burned movies?

Between me and my wife and kids we have a tv in almost every room in the house. It's been my experience that the cheaper the player, the better success for dvdr playback.

We have 3 different Phillips players which handle anything you can throw at them including European pal discs. Also have a cheapie Apex player which handles burned discs but only dvd-r (+r seems to give it trouble).

If you're looking for a total home theater package setup it might be more difficult. I tried a Toshiba all in one package once which was very hit & miss. Sometimes got region code errors even though all of my discs are region free. (I didn't try going back and reburning them with a region 1 code) I also just put a new sony blu-ray in the living room which doesn't playback anything from my burned collection.

You hardely ever see ntsc, ntscb & pal complient being advertised together in the US but Apex actually promotes that tid bit on the box. I don't often download pal discs myself but the players which handle them seem to playback anything and everything. Bestbuy and similar stores usually have no clue what player does what so your best bet is to lookup owner manuals online before buying. I originally stumbled on Phillips by reading owner's manuals online and noticed it read a number of different formats.

cheers!

How does a movie with a large file size fit onto a single DVD?

When you typically buy a movie it can come in two forms, physical( in a DVD or in a Blu-Ray) or a digital download.Blu Ray Discs have storage capacity up to 128 GB, whileDVDs can only store up to 8.5 GB(dual layer)So when someone rips a movie from a Blu Ray Disc the size of the rip can be equal to about 40 GB also. The 4GB one you are talking about is typically a reduced size rip which has a lower bit rate/ resolution/ fps compared to the original disc. You can have a look at the wiki article : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Com...

Can I make a DVD-R disc blank and then burn other stuff into it?

DVD -R and DVD +R disks are pre-formated right out of the box for use right away for your favorite Burner software (Roxio, Nero ect.), The software will usually offer 2 options for burning the disk (Wording will vary): File at Once; Will leave free space for adding additional files at a later time to the disk & Disk at Once; Will lock the disk for read-only. Both modes will not allow the disk to be erased/formatted or to remove files for reuse. If you want a reusable DVD then you want to buy DVD -RW or DVD +RW (Note these disks must be formatted before 1st use), These disks can be reformatted and reused for new data on PC’s and Mac’s however RW Disks can not be used for DVD Audio or DVD Video Formats (DVD -RW & DVD +RW disks can be used in stand alone DVD Recorders only for recording and playback only.)

How can i tell if my computer can burn video on bluray disks?

In order for you to take a video into a BluRay disc you need this.

1. A BD+R disc where your video is going to be stored.
2. BluRay burner which is expensive but necessary bc you must have something to write it with.
3. Computer but a standard could do the trick but it may take abit time for the compression, but you don't need a two thousand dollars computer to do the burning.
4. Software that is fairly easy and some of them are even cheap.
5. Allot of time and patience.
