How Long Will I Have My Braces On

How long does it take to take out braces?

Is your question related to the time you need to wear braces before the treatment is completed? Treatment time involves extreme case by case variations… 6 months to 3 years could be the range….so you need to ask your orthodontist about your case specifically. If your question is more specifically “How long does it take to remove the appliances from the teeth?”… that appointment ranges from an hour to an hour and a half total. The braces will come off easily and quickly from the teeth. In a matter of minutes, they simply snap off of the teeth. There is adhesive that remains on the enamel, however, which needs to be removed. A variety of techniques are used for the adhesive removal. Some providers use a hand instrument to scrape the material from the surface of the tooth. Others use a rotary handpiece to “polish” the material off of the tooth. The adhesive removal can take 20 to 40 minutes. There is usually some form of post treatment record taking in the form of photos, x-rays, and or impressions of the teeth. Also there may be (should be in my opinion) retainers given the same day. The retainers will require some adjustment, for proper fit and comfort, that takes a few minutes as well.Aron Dellinger DDS, MSD, Diplomate American Board of OrthodontistsAmerican Association of Orthodontists

How long should you wear braces?

Well, generally it takes about one or two years to complete a orthodontic procedure, depending on your dental condition and age. With great potential for growth, teenagers usually need a shorter period to complete the treatment than adults. And if your dental deformity is quite complicated, of course it will require a longer period. So what you need to do is consult with your orthodontist and he/she will offer you some useful advices in line with your personal condition. Wish you a set of straight and beautiful teeth.

How long does it take to get your braces off?

30-45 minutes if you are counting getting them removed (a couple minutes), removing glue (10-20 minutes), taking moulds (5 min), pictures (couple minutes), choosing retainer (couple minutes)

Good luck and congrats on getting your braces off! :)

Power Chains; how long will I have to wear them with my braces?

Power chains are to close gaps and they usually replace ligatures, but sometimes you can have both power chains and ligatures. The power chains move teeth faster. For some people, it can take up to 6 months or more for the gap to close. Some orthos keep power chains on even after the gap is closed to ensure that the gap stays shut. Sounds like you might be in the chains for a while.

For the pain, go back to the soft food diet for a few days until they stop aching and try taking a Motrin.

How long does it take to get braces put on?

Horrible. I was 12 at the time and I had top brackets on my top teeth except for two on each side for molars as well as bottom ones that went across all back teeth. At the time I first put them on I was not using bands yet. When they were first secured onto my teeth I didn’t really feel any pain at first, but there was a lot of tightness. When I went home, after about an hour or so, the excruciating pain started. It felt like someone had grabbed my teeth and was trying to squeeze them as hard as they could together. It made my head fuzzy by how much it hurt. I tried to eat soft, cold foods since the wire was heat reactive. Just opening my mouth felt like the wires were going to pull out my teeth any minute. After about two weeks there was a different pain: the dreaded exposed wire. I had my braces taken off in 8th grade but I still had dents in my cheeks and scars from brackets and wires taking off bits of my flesh or stabbing and scratching holes into the back of jaw. Wax barely works unless you don’t produce saliva. Pain meds were my best friend. I swear to god I was becoming a pill junkie. And every 4 weeks or so you start the pain over again with tightening wires, new bands, new brackets, or really fun: new wires.I wish I had invisaligns. :/

How long will it take to see results with my braces top & bottom?

On my top teeth I have a gap between my front two teeth, & large gaps at the sides where i've had adult teeth removed because of overcrowding.

On the bottom i have one twisted tooth & the rest are straight.

I have had my braces on for around 5 weeks now, they are being tightened for the first time next week.

So far i have not seen much difference at all, can anyone inform me on when things will improve, & how long it will take for the gap at the top to close/get smaller - so far it seems to have got bigger =( = #

How long will i keep my braces on AFTER jaw surgery..?

Depends on each case. Since you've had them on so long, your alignment should be good. They just need the teeth stabilized with the braces so things can heal. You'll probably have to wear some rubber bands to fine tune your bite before your finished. I'd day at least 5-6 more months months. I know it's frustrating, but it will be something your glad you did years from now. Hang in there, good luck with surgery.
