How Long Will Plan B Morning After Pill Stay In Your System

Do I need to take plan b(the morning after pill)?

Okay 1st off im a 19 year old female and I use yasmin birthcontrol. I have been using it since late sept. early october. Now i just had my period this week it finished yesterday and i started back on the yellow tablets yesterday aswell(because there are white ones that u take for a week to get ur period. then it goes back to the yellow ones in a new pack) Any ways yesterday and today i took the yellow tablets like usual but i also had sex today and my partner is nervous, he thinks we should get the plan b, even though he didnt fully ejaculate inside. he is still afraid he might have got some in there and since i just started a new pack that i could get pregnant and i told him that its highly unlikely. I tried to explain how birthcontrol works and that it what it's for, that i dont need to take the morning after pill. But he is still uneasy. The main thing is we both have different views when it comes to getting pregnant at a young age one of us in pro life and the other is pro choice so we want to totally avoid getting into the sistuation that would make us choose. Now i dont want to get plan b if i dont have to because im already on regular birth control and plan b its very pricy where i live. Not to mention it makes me a little ill. So please only share ur opinon if u know for sure, like ur a obgyn doctor or have been in the sistuation or have been on birthcontrol for a very long time. I need advice from someone who knows what they are talking about. Thank u for ur time and advice. :)

I know i put this in 2 sections i just wasnt sure where would be the best place to get the best answers. Thanks. :)

How long does it take for plan B/morning after pill to work?

It doesn't really work like that. It does not have any affect on your period, its not like you get pregnant, it prevents you from becoming pregnant. As long as it is took as soon as possible after unprotected sex. It will not terminate an existing pregnancy. You can read all this on the web about it.

Personally, I would not recommend it. I have used it before, and you know what? I got pregnant. If only has like an 88% rate of preventing pregnancy. In my opinion, it was a waste of money. I personally got terribly sick after I took it. And then when I was 10 weeks into my pregnancy, I miscarried. I don't think that Plan B had anything to do with it, but I still would not recommend it.

But it is your choice to make. I am one person. I do not know of anyone else that hs still gotten pregnant after they took it. My body could have had some reaction to something in it.

All the information that you need is on the link below. I hope this helps.

How long does plan b (morning after pill) stay in the system?

Hi, hope all is okay..

I did the silly thing of taking plan b earlier today after around 38 hours after intercourse due to an argument with my husband bcos I don't want things to go wrong and left with a child. I admit I took it when I was real mad and regret it deeply as I'm in the fertile period and apparently meant to ovulate on the 11-11-12. I took plan b on 8-11-12, and my period is expected on 25-11-12. My last period started on 08-10-12. I want to know if I have intercourse the night after taking plan b, for example 8-10 hours after taking it, will I still ovulate hopefully on the 11th, or will plan b stop this. I regret taking it soooo bad as I've patched things with my husband and we are trying for a baby..

Can I still ovulate and maybe a chance of pregnancy?

How long will it last in my system?

Thank you.

How long does Plan B stay in the system?

The chances are slim that you are pregnant, as Plan B is such a high dose of hormone.

Now, people are a bit cavalier about it, it is the only form of the pill women with certain conditions or heavy smokers can chance. It can only be taken once a month and shouldn't be a substitute for condoms or other birth control.

The fact is, it is rough on your system. Chances are you will get your period earlier than you should. I've had to take Plan B three times in my life. The first two times, I had my period within the week. The last time, I was on time. But...

Each time, yeah, it was rough on my system otherwise. I didn't suffer nausea or anxiety, but just it made PMS much worse and PMS started like two days after taking it. However, nausea that can last for days is a common side effect. If you threw up when you took it, you're supposed to take another dose ASAP. Also, you can take both at once. In Europe, they tell you to do that.

Now, there is a slim chance if the egg was fertilized it could adhere to the uterine lining. Plan B is 89% effective, which means there's an 11% chance that it's some form of super zygote that will adhere.

If you're worried, get a home pregnancy test. That should quell your fears, but if nausea is a common part of PMS for you, then that's probably why the nausea didn't go away.

How long will Zithromax stay in your system if you took the 1st days dose of 2 pills and the second day 1pill?

This does not actually sound characteristic of an allergic reaction to zithromax, however it does definitely sound like it is due to you taking it. Are you taking a new antibiotic now in place of the zithromax? If it was confirmed that you had a bacterial infection, you should have been given a new antibiotic so that you can get rid of that infection.

To answer your question, azithromycin stays in your body a longer time than most antibiotics. It goes into all parts of your body, much moreso than other antibiotics. Because of this, it takes a long time for your body to eliminate the drug. This is why zithromax can be taken for 5 days (Z pak) while most other antibiotics are taken for 7-14 days. It lasts in the body longer.

Since you have only taken 2 days worth of medication, I would say the medication should be eliminated within several days, possibly 4-5 days, although you may have symptoms of this side effect for longer than that. Just because the drug is gone from your body doesn't mean the swelling will go away as soon as the drug is gone. It may take some time. If you don't see it go away within 7-10 days, I would go back to the doctor to get it checked out, since it may be something else that caused it.

Also, if the swelling gets any worse, or you develop any other symptoms such as hives or difficulty breathing, go to the emergency department of your nearest hospital. But, as long as the symptoms don't change, it should start to get better in a few days.

White bumps to me sound like canker sores. I am not sure why zithromax would cause that, or if it could cause it. You may actually have a viral infection that is causing your tonsillitis. Swollen glands also are caused by viral infections. A virus can cause canker sores in your mouth, because it is running down your immune system.

Have you been tested for mono? Swollen tonsils and glands are hallmark signs of mono, and mono can also cause canker sores in your mouth. Just a thought; I could be way off but you didn't describe exactly what the doctor diagnosed you with so I'm just wondering if this may be a possibility.

Hope you feel better soon; best of luck. :)

How long does the plan b pill work?

roughly 5 days sooo....you should be okay. Did you tell the guy you weren't on the pill?

The pill just doesn't kill his sperm but is rather targeted at disrupting the fertilization process between a sperm and an egg which takes about 5 days to fully conceive.

Some studies report only a 75% success rate of the "morning after pill" on women where the sperm actually made it to the egg. In other words use protection or at least the pill before intercourse.

...Naomi taking another pill would do nothing, at this point if it hasn't been prevented the egg would already be fertilized and conceived. I suppose it's still "possible" there's sperm in the fallopian tubes waiting for an egg to be released, so take another one if you want.

When do you next ovulate after taking the morning after pill?

I have to admit that I am awfully confused and it's pretty obvious you have no idea about your own menstrual cycle. If you are on birth control, you are protected from pregnancy and you will not ovulate. As long as you are with a monogamous long term partner, part of the reason to take birth control pills is to have protected, but bareback intercourse. If you are on birth control and have been taking it properly, THERE IS NO NEED TO EVER TAKE PLAN B (aka morning after pill). You have really screwed up your hormones by taking plan B with birth control pills and your period will be late or messed up. Here is how a normal menstrual cycle works. cycle day #1 is the day your period starts. Most women ovulate on or around cycle day #14. If no pregnancy occurs, the period starts around cycle day 28. Not every woman has a 28 day cycle and not every woman ovulates in the direct center of that cycle, but it's usually pretty close. So, even if you weren't on birth control and you were supposed to have your period on the 24th or 25th, it still would have been over reacting to take plan B on the 22nd. You would have ovulated around the 10th and the egg can only live for about 48 hours. It would have been long gone before the condom breaking mishap. Birth control pills work by supplying hormones that trick that the body into thinking it is pregnant and then you don't release an egg (no ovulation). No ovulation means no pregnancy is possible. Then the hormones are changed to allow for a normal (or lighter) period to occur. You way over-reacted. With the amount of hormones you have taken (pill and plan B) I wouldn't trust a pregnancy test anyway! good luck! ps - please learn how your reproductive system works!

HOW LONG DOES PLAN B STAY IN YOUR BODY?

Plan B is effective up to three days post coitus. Your second encounter with your boyfriend was not protected by the Plan B drug.

You should seriously consider discussing with your provider options for birth control at your upcoming appointment. Plan B is not meant to be used as a primary means of birth control, and there are other options better suited for the purpose if you and your boyfriend plan to be having sex on a regular basis (which, I assume, you both are).

I do not advocate that you use hormonal contraception as your only means of protection, as it is very dependent upon taking it on a strict regimen (same time of day, every day, and not missing a pill). More importantly, it does not protect against STI's or STD's. A combination of hormonal birth control and a barrier method (such as a condom) are your best bets for staying disease--and child--free.

Please do not think that an infection cannot happen to you. They are VERY prevalent, and are often asymptomatic, which means you might not know you or your partner have one, even if you are currently infected and contagious. In 2006, more than 19 million sexually transmitted infections were diagnosed, and almost half of those were in people 15-24 years old. Consequences of STI infections in women can be PID (Pelvic Inflammatory Disease), ectopic pregnancy, and possibly infertility, just to name a few. You should both be tested, and your local health department can perform that for you both, as well as your primary care physicians or, for you, your gynecologist.

A pregnancy test will not detect a pregnancy until after you have missed a period. It checks for a hormone that is present as a fertilized egg implants and grows in the endometrium (the lining of the uterus). This hormone isn't at a great enough quantity to be detected by a home pregnancy test until after a period. If you are concerned, blood work may be done at your Doctor's appointment.

Please discuss with your doctor your sex habits, what concerns you have, and work with them try to find a good option for you to protect your health. I promise that they have heard everything under the sun, so don't worry about being embarrassed or what they might think of you. Its normal, and you need information and resources to be able to behave responsibly.

How effective is the "Morning After Pill"?

You can't use Plan B as a regular birth control. It costs between $30 to $50 for just one pill, and you only use it if you didn't use any means of birth control the night before and think you need to prevent a pregnancy. It does something that prevents the sperm from joining the egg, and how effective it is depends on how early it's taken after you had sex. It works.

Also, if birth control pills are taken correctly, it is 99% effective. But I've heard that if you take it even an hour before or after your regular time, effectiveness decreases to something insane, like 83%.

How long does the Plan B pill effect your cycle?

so my now ex boyfriend and I had unprotected sex April 5th he didn't ejaculate in me but I was still worried about it so I went and bought the plan b pill April 6th and took it about 19 hours after sex. April 6th was also my ovulation day according to my period tracker. then I was supposed to get my period April 19th but instead I got it from April 16th- 20th which is a normal amount of time. I read that the pill can cause your period to come early or late depending on when you take it in your cycle. so I guess that's why I got it early. also my period was really light for the first few days then got so heavy I bled through my pants. now I was supposed to start my period again today May 12th but no sign of it. could I be pregnant or is it the pill still messing with my period cycle? please answer.

ps: I have not had sex with him or anyone else since April 5th. also I took a pregnancy test May 5th exactly a month after sex and it came out negative.
