How Many Bones Does A Lion Have In Kenya

Does a lion’s tongue hurt your skin when it licks you?

Great question. You do know why it's tongue is abrasive and rough like fine to medium grit sandpaper? It's because it's tongue (made up of organic spines called papillae) has to get as much meat and blood off of skin and bone as efficiently as possible. It's tongue is also great for grooming like a brush too. A side note, I have been right next to a giraffe's tongue and that tongue is an unbelievable tool, but that's for another topic.

How many bones are in a shark's body?

As weird as it sounds, a shark has no bones in it’s bodies! It’s body is made entirely of cartilage which is found in the ear lobe of the human body. many people believe that it is made up of 278 or 356. But actually, it’s skeleton is made entirely of cartilage. People also believe that teeth are bones, but actually they aren’t.Sharks are cartilaginous which means their skeleton are made up of cartilage. The number of bones that are believed by people are just rumours. Sharks are chondrichthyes fish.

How does the unearthing of the lower jaw, teeth and other bones of a new species, Simbakubwa kutokaafrik, in Kenya change our understanding of lions?

It doesn't. Simbakubwa kutoaafrika is not even closely related to lions, despite its name. Every time I see an article calling it a “giant lion” my eye twitches. So, what we do know is that Simbakubwa was a hyaenodont, probably the largest known hyaenodont in fact. Hyaenodontidae was a family of often huge carnivores characterized by their bone-crushing dentition and slim build. Now, we don’t exactly know what hyaenodontids are. They were traditionally classified as part of the order Creodonta, the sister taxon of modern carnivorans, but it’s looking like Creodonta is actually multiple unrelated groups. The most recent studies place one family of creodonts, oxyaenids, as primitive Laurasiatheres (a diverse group of mammals including bats, carnivores and ungulates), while hyaenodonts themselves are close relatives of pangolins.Whatever the case, Simbakubwa kutoaafrika had nothing to do with lions, or any other felines.
