When I was a personal trainer, I would train girls of all ages. How many calories does a 13 year old need?

You should have 1500-1700 calories per day to maintain a HEALTHY weight.

For girls: 82 to 137 pounds is normal.
For boys: 80 to 135 pounds is normal.

You're bordering on being underweight. Which can have just as many health risks as being overweight.

So, yes, if you want to maintain your weight, 1,400-1,500 calories a day...but if you want to get up to the average (102 for both boys and girls), I'd go for 1,500 to 1,600 per day.

All that said, calories really don't matter as much as long as you're eating MOSTLY healthy foods and getting proper exercise and enough sleep each night.

A can of soda or an individual sized bag of chips or a single scoop of ice cream once or twice a week isn't going to hurt...but if that's ALL you're drinking/eating, the sugar and/or salt is more detrimental than the calories themselves. Same with movement....the less you move, even with healthy foods, you could gain unnecessary weight.

This should be close to enough to put someone at around their healthy weight.Bodies have a range of shapes. Don’t sweat if yours doesn’t fit into a standard mold. Especially at 13, when you still have many changes to go through. Puberty sucks. Teenagers suck. I know it’s trite, and I’m sure you’ve heard it before, but things get better. For most people living safe lives, puberty and teenhood is the hardest part of their life. But every adult you know got through it, and if they could, so can you.

Some days you might have more milk in your tea and even add sugar!!, other days you might just try it black.Believe me, as a dude in his 30s, if I had a choic between a girl who is slightly over/underweight but enjoying life every day, vs a girl who looks ideal weight but living in a mental prison, I know which I would choose, every time.

I'm 13 also. I'm 4'5". So trust me I think you're ok on hight. It just depends on your body, but I weigh 90lbs. A good calorie intake is about 1,200-1,400. The lower you go you will start to loose weight. I have the lose it! app. You don't have to lose weight with it, you can maintain with it. It says how many calories you should intake for your age weight and hight. It also tells you how many calories you burned by doing an exercise. You log the food and exercise in. It's free too.
