How many calories do i eat to lose 3 lbs per week?

Please help me. I'm a 24 year old female, 5'2'', 2 children, weighing 130. I gained 10 lbs over 6 months.

Working out isn't an option. Every last second of my life is dedicated to the kids recitals, school, work, or my older daughters healthcare which is a daunting task all on its own as she has cancer and it runs our life.
It's possible stress played a part in my weight gain as I eat on the go now.

So what's the formula (how many calories) I need to be 12 lbs less by Dec 1.

Plz don't suggest weight watchers. Yes it does work but I hate figuring out my points. Thank you!

I understand that this is unhealthy, but I'm willing to deal with that later. I'm trying to figure out how many calories to burn a day in order to lose atleast 7 lbs a week. I HAVE to lose this in 3 wks for the military. Any info would be good. First thing - Google and get BMR for ur weight and height. Note down your BMR and weight on day 1.Take your weight first thing in morning on empty stomach (after getting fresh).For example 1450 is ur BMR then do not go less than that amount and eat around 1500 calorie for a week.Try to eat approximately 1500 calories on a daily basis you can calculate your total calorie with the help of any online app ( which can give you an approx values of calories for the food you eat through out the day)Again weight yourself after 1 week and notice if you have gained or lost weight. Based on this you can try to increase or decrease your calorie intake and again follow it for another 1 week. This way you can find the calories you need to follow for weight/fat loss.Important - BMR is the no of calories your body needs to perform it's basic functionality like breathing etc. So it's usually advised not to go below your BMR on a regular basis. Once in a while it should be okay to eat less than BMR Or if you want to break the weight loss plateau.BMR gives you an approx idea and it's never 100% accurate for everyone , so you should do this hit and trail method and try to find it for yourself.Hope it helps!!

So that's a 1000 calorie deficit per day.You can estimate how much your body burns (TDEE) by entering your stats and body fat percentage at the iifym TDEE calculator (google it) or the muscleforlife TDEE calculator. If you subtract 1000 from that, that's the 1000 calorie deficit level and that's your answer.Now having answered the question, I'd like to add:Such a high deficit will lead to a lot of muscle loss along with fat loss. Unless you are chronically obese. (Body fat > 40%). I'd suggest max 500 calorie deficit per day (one pounds loss per week) instead.When doing this deficit, make sure you workout HARD with weights three times a week (with plenty of rest, sleep and water), and make sure at least half your intake is from protein. And make sure you get enough vitamins and fiber. This intake and workout while being in a deficit will minimize muscle loss and maximize fat loss. That way you'll be in a better SHAPE (not just size) at the end of the effort.

to lose 1 lb, you need to consume 3000 calories less, so that means 7500 calories less a week in order to lose 2/12 lbs in one week. so either eat that amount less or eat less & burn the rest of that amount of calories.
it'll really help if you burn more calories in a day than you eat. then you're sure to lose weight just about every day. i lost 7 lbs in one week just by eating less calories & eating high protein/low carbs without even exercising, but for sure ... burn more than you eat a day!

in reply to your edit ... i actually went and got (a few months ago) a book by David Kirsch (the fitness guru to the stars) called The Ultimate New York Body Plan. it's a two week program w/ the exercise plan & the recipes to the foods you eat during the two weeks, and the way he has it worked out is that you DO burn more calories a day than you eat, because you're exercising from an hour to an hour and a half a day of cardio & other work outs, simply using a medicine ball, light weights and a balance ball, if you can believe that. it's amazing! i never even did the exercise plan (even though i went out & bought the stuff for it), i just ate the high protein/low carb diet for like three weeks & lost 10 lbs total (cheated a few times). i got my book on amazon.com for like 8.00 w/ shipping for an almost new copy! check it out! it's intense (w/ the exercise plan) but it's worth it!

She did mention she was 281 pounds, meaning her body will naturally burn more calories than the average female(150lbs). With an exercise plan giving fitness at least 3 days a week for 30 minutes, eating 6 small meals a day adding to 1800 calories and making sure they are balanced, she will lose anywhere from 2 to 5 pounds the first couple weeks.

Then you'd have to exercise more or eat less. If you want to weigh say, 130 pounds, then eat 1300 calories a day and exercise. The last 10 or 20 pounds are the hardest to lose. Men have testosterone and burn more calories, so they would easily lose weight on 1500 a day. Most diets tell women to eat 1200 and men 1500 to lose weight.
