How Many Horses Do Your Riding School Have

Can you ride a horse to school?

Well, I live in Montana, and my friends and I ride to school frequently :) But my school has corrals to turn your horse loose in, complete with shady areas and water troughs. We get to go and check on our horse about every hour. Haha living in a rural town is so fun :)

But, if your school isn't set up for horses, I wouldn't recommend it. The police, principal or animal control could get you in trouble. Also, where would you put your horse during school? Think about the horse. Would he have water? Could he be stolen or harassed? Would he have shade? Would he have room to run around, or would the poor horse have to stand tied to a post all day? Could you bring a halter to tie him with? Would your schoolmates provoke him in any way?

Those (and many others) are the things you have to consider before riding to school. Please make an educated choice.

How many years should I be riding before I get a horse?

If you are Mongol you might receive a horse on your birthday. My niece received a horse when she was born, from her maternal grandfather. She gets a horse on special occasions. Now she is around 14 years old and has at least 20 horses. Her grandfather has around 100 horses, not much by Mongolian standards. The grandfather makes hints to my brother that it is time to make a separate herd, my brother just smiles. He doesn't do it because he lives in the city. To separate, he needs to have a separate herder, separate horse branding etc. A good person who would look after his horses and take care of them, which is not easy to arrange if you are in the city.Unfortunately my father-in-law doesn't have any horses and I don’t own any, but my kids learn to ride too. In the pic above, my son is learning to sit on a saddle. He was around 1 at the time…

How much does horse riding lessons cost on average?

I've seen lessons for as cheap as $25 an hour for simple Western/English lessons, then I've seen lessons for $80 a lesson. My lessons would be $55 a lesson, but I work them off. That may be an option for you too, if you cannot afford lessons! Just google "Horseback riding lessons in *insert your area*" and start e-mailing and calling all the places you can get a hold of! There may be a lot of "no's," but just keep looking! I got so many no's that I couldn't even count, and two yeses. One to a very nice Eventing barn and one to a simple western lesson. The western lessons were a little over an hours drive away, while the Eventing lessons are twenty/thirty minutes (depends who's driving) from my house... Good luck with your lesson search!

How do I convince my parents to let me take horse riding lessons?

http://maps.google.com/maps/place?hl=en&...

I found a stable on google but It didnt give much information on costs. The average cost for one hour group lessons are about 15 dollars but can get up to 30 dollars. If you would need extra money I would suggest doing a few extra chores around the house or starting a little job like paper girl, or maybe you could do stable chores in extrange for lessons but that would be up to the stable manager.

if you want to convince them that horseback is a sport then there are many videos on youtube that do a great job on getting that point across. :)

Good Luck convincing your parents! I hope they let you! Dont give up on your dream thoguh! :)

From how many years can children learn horse riding?

Children at any age can sit on a horse but “learning to ride” requires control and understanding how your body moves and how the horse moves. Some stables/riding schools start children around 4 years of age on lead-line situations to get a feel of how the horse moves, some basic exercises as well as general horse care. Starting them this young without lead line is a lot of pressure for a horse to undertake. Remember that the horse/pony is a living creature with a brain and having a living creature in charge of your child is a big undertaking.Starting children around 8 years allows the child to become aware of their body and where it is, how to hold the reins, use the legs and understand that the horse is not a thing, but a living creature. When searching for a horse riding stable or riding school, visit the stable and ensure that there are ponies/horses that are suitable for your child and level of riding. For riding tips and equitation explanations subscribe to my youtube channel.

What would be a timeline for proficiency in horse riding? Where should I be after a few years of riding one lesson per week?

It depends on your confidence, calmness, and general athletic ability. It also depends on how good your instructor is and the quality of horses you are taking lessons on. Riding two or more times a week will help you become a more component rider, more quickly.  I had a student who is riding as well as a professional rider in 3 years, but does not know who to train a horse. I had another student jumping over fences with very solid equitation after only a few months of training. After a few years you should know general horsemanship, how to care for a horse, how to properly groom, tack up and untack. You should be able to identify if your tack and equipment is adjusted correctly and fitting properly. When riding, you should be able to post the trot, sit the trot, two-point position, trot to canter transitions, walk to canter transitions. And you should be able to navigate courses with poles on the ground at trot and canter. The more effort and time you put in, the more you will get out of your riding and learning process.
