How Many Hours Can You Work When You 16 In New York

Is it legal to make employees work 14 hours a day?

Yes it is legal for employees to work 14 hours a day without overtime. Many nurses work a 16 hour shift. Employers can require employees to work 14 hours a day. Working over 8 hours a day does not mean the employee is entitled to overtime pay. Workers who earn a yearly salary could work 18 hours a day 5 days a week and they would get no overtime.

Adrian works in New York City and makes $42 per hour. She works in an office and must get her suit dry cleaned everyday for $75. If she wants to make more than $260 a day, at least how many hours must she work?

Since she wants to make atleast $260 a day and is required to spend $75 daily on her suit then she should actually make atleast,X=$260+$75=$335 a dayNow since she make $42 an hour number of hours she should work, n = 335/42=7.97 hoursSo she should work approximately 8 hours atleast to make $260 on a daily basis.

How many hours per week can a 16 year old work?

Any teen under 18 years old is restricted in working a maxium of 8 hours per day.
Along with the day restriction, there is a 40 hours per week limit too.

In New York, how long do you have to have your learner's permit before you can get a full driver's license?

The New York Department of Motor Vehicles has a website that describes what someone with a learner's permit must do to prepare for a road test that will earn you your driver's license:Prepare for your road test If you're under the age of 18, you have to wait at least six months before you can attempt your road test.  Otherwise, you only need to wait as long as it takes to get "an appropriate amount of supervised driving practice".  What that means is the clarified with the following text:If you have a Class DJ [...] learner permit, you must have a minimum of 50 hours of supervised practice driving that includes at least 15 hours of driving after sunset before you take a road test.Just to clarify, DJ is for cars and, guess what?  The J means "junior", which is ALSO just for drivers under 18.  So that means if you're under 18, you have to wait at least six months, and get that 50 hours of practice. So what happens if you're older than 18?  Well then, you have a class D learner permit and don't have to wait at all.  You can schedule your road test the next day if they have a slot available.  However, the page also has this warning:We recommend that all drivers of all ages have this amount and type of practice. We also recommend that you take a driver education course or professional driving lessons.Hint, hint... don't be a dumbass and assume you can drive safely without any practice.  Otherwise, if you're an adult, no restrictions.

Working papers!?

In the state of New York, individuals under the age of 18 may work given the following conditions:
Case 1: School NOT in session
- Maximum 8 hours per day
- Maximum 48 hours per week
- Hours must be between 0600 AM and mdnight.

Case 2: School in session
- Up to 4 hours/day on Mon-Thurs
- Up to 8 hours/day on Fri-Sun or holidays
- Maximum 28 hours per week
- Hours must be between 0600 AM and 2200 PM

Given all that ... you need "working papers" as well. To obtain these, follow the steps below.

To Obtain Working Papers You must first...
- Get information and an application form from your school office. If you are not attending school or if you apply during vacation periods, obtain the address of the certificating office from the school nearest your home. Then...
- Complete the application form which requires:
- - - The signature of your parent or guardian,
- - - Your birth or baptismal record for proof of age, and
- - - A doctor's certificate showing that you are physically fit to work. (This certificate is not required for newspaper carrier permits if the applicant is qualified to participate in the school's physical education program.)

For youths to obtain a full-time employment certificate, their parent or guardian must appear in person before the school authorities to give consent. High school graduates can present written consent. In addition, youths must provide proof of age, a certificate of physical fitness, and a schooling record. In New York City and Buffalo, a 16 year-old minor who is leaving school must have a pledge of employment signed by the prospective employer and a "Job Description" that shows a daily and weekly schedule and details the work to be done.

The type of paper you need is dependent on your situation: if you're not attending school or are leaving for full-time employment, you need the AT-20 (salmon) papers. If you're planning only to work during vacations and after school, you need the AT-19 (green) papers.

Can I drive in New York at 16 with a Florida license? This question applies to both motorcycle and car licenses. Are there any restrictions?

Any legitimate license, with no specific limitations (like a farm license or a driver's permit), from any state - is accepted as a legitimate license in any other state. Car or motorcycle. For instance, my kids were moved to another state by their mother. In that state, you couldn't get a learner's permit until you were 17, and you had to have your permit for at least one year before you could get a license. You also had to go to a state accredited driving school, and have a log of all your driving miles and hours.Essentially, it was impossible to get your driver's license prior to turning 18 in their state.Progressives push these types of laws, claiming they reduce accidents and keep young drivers safe. Actually it's to keep young people out of the workforce, but that's a whole “nother rant.Anyway… I just had my kids come back home for a bit. They took the written and driving tests on the same day in my state, and the licenses issued in my state are accepted by every other state. So they could legally drive anywhere at 16.So YES, if you have a legitimate full-blown driver's license issued by the Great State of Florida (not just a permit) - you can legally drive anywhere in the US.Congratulations, you're a grown-up! Now you can get a job to pay for your car, and a car to drive back an forth to work! …and you won'tbe a pathetic looser who's still on their parent's health insurance in 10 years.

How many hours does it take from Lagos to Canada?

This has been my regular route in the last 8 years since my family moved to Canada. My wife and I as well as our two boys have now settled in Canada but I go to Nigeria at least three times every year. There is no direct flight from Lagos or Abuja to Canada. You must take flights through European cities or through Other international routes like Ethiopia, Egypt, Turkey, UAE etc. You can also fly directly from Lagos to Atlanta and then connect to CanadaFrom Lagos or Abuja to Toronto takes between 15 and 20 hours of flight, excluding layover period, depending on the airlines that must traditionally go to their home base. In the last eight years I have flown regularly through Frankfurt (Lufthansa), Paris (Air France), Dubai (Emirates), and in the last one year I have flown Ethiopian Airlines five times consecutively, through Addis Ababa. It takes four hours to get to Addis Ababa, and then a stretch of about 15 to 16 hours from Addis Ababa to Toronto with a refueling period of one hour at Dublin in Ireland. Passengers remain seated in the plane during the refueling period. It takes about 7 hours from Addis Ababa to Dublin and then about 8 hours from Dublin to Toronto. There are other routes into other Canadian cities from many other connecting cities but the flight time is almost the same, but the layover period differ depending on the chosen flight schedule.I have found the Addis Ababa route more comfortable because I usually arrive Toronto by 9 am local time, compared to other airlines that arrive Toronto in the evening because of the long time of layovers associated with their flight schedules. The layover period in Addis Ababa is just 2 hours, compared to up to 6 hours with other airlines.
