How Many Natinol Day Saudi

How does Saudi Arabia celebrate National Day?

There's no special celebration like parades, programs, etc. during the National Day just some television documentaries about the Kingdom and a simple ceremony by the king in the capital city of Riyadh. It is not like in other countries that the whole nation have holiday and celebrations, there's work as usual.

The only kingdom wide occasions being observed with festivities and thanksgiving prayers with no work (with pays), classes and store closes are the EDI al-Ftr and Eid al-adhan. which lasts for about one-week. It is also these occasions when people share gifts/ foods especially to the poor citizens

When the King and Princes visits the different parts of the kingdom, streets and buildings are being decorated and well lighted with their big pictures hanging everywhere. There's a pass-in review and parade of military troops and tanks with plane exhibition in the air. There are also all-male folk dances performed before the guest by the male dancers in native costumes and abundance of foods are being served.

That's what I observed during the 14 years of stay in Saudi Arabia.

How many days does it rain in saudi arabia a year?

Can't really say days, coz they it's their climate there.

So, it's called annual rainfall.

"Annual precipitation is usually sparse (up to 100 mm or 4 inches in most regions), although sudden downpours can lead to violent flash floods in wadis. Annual rainfall in Riyadh averages 100 mm (4 inches) and falls almost exclusively between January and May; the average in Jeddah is 54 mm (2.1 inches) and occurs between November and January."

"The region of Asir is subject to Indian Ocean monsoons, usually occurring between October and March. An average of 300 millimeters of rainfall occurs during this period--60 percent of the annual total. Additionally, in Asir and the southern Hijaz condensation caused by the higher mountain slopes contributes to the total rainfall.

For the rest of the country, rainfall is low and erratic. The entire year's rainfall may consist of one or two torrential outbursts that flood the wadis and then rapidly disappear into the soil to be trapped above the layers of impervious rock. This is sufficient, however, to sustain forage growth. Although the average rainfall is 100 millimeters per year, whole regions may not experience rainfall for several years. When such droughts occur, as they did in the north in 1957 and 1958, affected areas may become incapable of sustaining either livestock or agriculture."

Is there any popularity for Saudi-Arabian nationalism?

Yes, there is. Since 9/11 and particularly since 5/03 -- when Al-Qaeda-inspired terrorists undertook a series of bombings within Saudi Arabia -- there has been a growth in Saudi nationalism. This is, not surprisingly, strongly supported by the Saudi government. It is promoting nationalism as a claw-back of power from the religious conservatives. The government has been promoting the celebration of National Day, for instance. National Day became a (hugely popular) national holiday in 2005. Prior to that, religious conservatives had successfully argued that its celebration was an "innovation" and a copying of the practices of non-Muslim countries. Now, the cities are carpeted in green-and-white, the colors of the Saudi flag. Of course, some decoration is state-sponsored, but public participation is enormous.Saudis are proud of their sports teams and popularly support them in international competitions. The government also sponsors the Jenadriyah Festival, an annual, two-week-long celebration of national culture and history. It, too, is an extremely popular event.

Why did no empire colonize the land of current day Saudi Arabia?

TL;DR Because they have been protected by the USAColonialism grow out from the harbours. The western powers controlled the oceans. All they were aiming for in the 17th and 18th century was ports. Eventually an entire town or a city with a great harbour. The Portugis Empire. Portugal rule the Ocean and just needed somewhere for their ships to land. Other European powers followed the same strategy. Then the expansion into the surrounding land followed. Slowly the colonial rulers swallowed more and more land.A lot of colour but basicly all of Arabia was controlled by the British except the purple part that was Saudi Arabia. The Saudis were life scared. No one could resist the British who were masters of lie budget imperial expansion. They worked with alliences, by supporting British friendly fractions and by soft power. If a king resisted the British it was likely that some in his family would rebell and with British support replace him. They new king would than be rewarded by the British, like his children would be send of to study at Oxbridge (or were they hostages). The Saudi king understod that he needed support to resist British colonialism. He found it in the USA.In 1933 the deal was settled. Oil in return for US protection against the British. The Saudi-USA allience have been intact ever since.
