How Many People Fly Commercially In The Uk Each Year

How many people are in the cockpit of a commercial flight besides the pilots? ?

The vast majority of airliners today only have two pilots in the cockpit. A few older aircraft still have a flight engineer position, but these are gradually disappearing as they are being replaced with newer, more efficient aircraft.

Due to increased security constraints, it is extremely difficult (but not impossible) to obtain permission to ride in the cockpit jumpseat. So to answer your question, there is most likely no one in the cockpit other than the pilots.

How to become a commercial airline pilot?

I'm currently 15 years old and live in the UK. I'm doing my GCSEs right now...
My question is, what subjects should I be strong in to become an airline pilot (e.g. what subjects should I take up for A levels).

Not only that, I just got some general questions. How long will it roughly take to actually get the job and how long does it take before I get a license to fly a plane.

How difficult is the job? Is it very stressful?

What's life like as a pilot (I assume that you're constantly flying everywhere so you don't get much time to spend with your family)?

Do I require to go university to become an airline pilot? I do want to go to uni but do they have specific courses which is actually beneficial towards becoming an airline pilot.

I imagine that Maths is a subject you should be strong at. I'm not great at it nor am I terrible, does this really matter?

How much is the pay for a commercial pilot (I know it varies depending on your experience and the airline you work for but if anyone can give rough but realistic examples)?

Is it actually a job worth doing? I've always liked flying and travelling, and the whole concept of airplanes and airports is very exciting for me so I hope to enter that field.

I'm sure that I'd have to go to some sort of aviation school too but it seems very expensive - is it something worth doing? How many sessions will it take before I'm ready to fly an actual aircraft?

Any other useful information is appreciated...

Thanks

How many people are killed by blimps each year?

I just happen to have a copy of the Administrator’s 2008 Fact Book available at http://www.faa.gov/about/office_org/head...

The Administrator's (FAA) Fact Book provides data and statistics for:
· Aviation Accidents and Incidents
· Air Traffic Activity
· Airports Activity
· Aircraft Activity
· Certification
· Active Airmen
· Commercial Space Transportation
· Industry Trends
· Employment
· Labor Relations

All blimps operate under Part 91 General Aviation and there have been a few accidents, but NO loss of life. Blimps are the safest aircraft flying anywhere in the world.

“Chandler says that blimps kill 1 American every year.” I hope you don’t get your news from the TV or knowledge because it is make believe for entertainment. If you want the facts look them up on the above web site.

How many people fly domestically in the United States each day?

According to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (http://www.transtats.bts.gov/), a total of 631,939,829 passengers boarded domestic flights in the United States in the year 2010.  This averages to 1.73 million passengers flying per day. This statistic counts individuals every single time that they board a plane as a different passenger.  I have not found out how to obtain this information at a level for number of distinct people that travel in the United States per year.Image from http://www.transtats.bts.gov/

How many people are in the air flying at any given time?

According to flightracker.com, there are 6,382 flights in the air right now... I searched for commercial airline flights only.Presuming an average 150 passenger per flight that is 970,000 people. Right now (Friday, 11 AM CST)Maybe a averag pax count of 100 is more conservative, in which case the number of pax in the air right now would be closer to 638,000 people. Still, that's a large number.I guessed at the number of pax per flight. There are a lot of 737 that carry about 150, many 747 and 767 and 777 that have way more than 200, and a large number of regional jets carrying about 100. (all full). I think my guess of 100-150 people per plane is good.See this : What is the average amount of passengers on a plane? You also have to temper my numbers. I took a worldwide sample of planes in the air at 11 AM US central time. A large percent of the worlds traffic is in the US and in the US most people travel in the daytime and not in the wee hours. So my numbers are probably peak numbers.Final Answer: Commercial airliners carry a peak of 640,000 to 970,000 passengers at any given moment during the day.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of being a (commercial) pilot?

Advantages (CASS) jump seat anywhere in the world, easy job.

Disadvantage, it isn't much different from any other job after a while. Taxi driver for people, truck driver for cargo. Dont put flying too high on the pedestal, leave yourself open for other jobs. Pay isn't as good as most people think.

Need help with PROBABILITY! Commercial airplanes have an excellent safety record. Nevertheless, there are....?

...crashes occasionally, with the loss of many lives. In the weeks following a crash, airlines often report a drop in the number of passengers, probably because people are afraid to risk flying.

a) A travel agent suggests that, since the law of averages makes it highly unlikely to have two plane crashes within a few weeks of each other, flying soon after a crash is the safest time. What do you think??

b) If the airline industry proudly announces that it has set a new record for the longest period of safe flights, would you be reluctant to fly? Are the airlines due to have a crash?

How many passengers fly each year?

This information is a little outdated, however in 2014 the International Air Transport Association stated that 8 million people fly on a daily basis, with 3.1 billion passengers flying in 2014.New Year’s Day 2014 marks 100 Years of Commercial Aviation

Do airports have records of people who fly on a plane?

I'll make this short. Please read this all, and answer question. So I met a lady at the airport in Seattle. I talked with her for about a good 45 minutes. She was about 58 years old, and she was very sweet and very beautiful for a woman that age. She told me she was going back home to Alaska. I went back to California. I know a bit about her, yet I never got her number nor did I find her on Facebook. She did not tell me her last name either, so it's hard to find someone when you don't know their last name. I really miss this woman. Her and I had a connection, and she gave me a lot of advise and confidence, and I told her I would see her again, and she agreed, telling me "Yes, I'm sure we will." To make that happen, what I want to know is.. say if I go back to the airport in Seattle, if I go to Airport Security their, will they have a record of people who flew on the plane she flew on? I'm sure airports keep records of flights, people who flew on them, and etc. I want to try and get her full name, and if possible, her phone number. Or instead of Seattle, is it possible to even do that in any airport? Please Help. Thank you. :)
