How long does it take to gain weight after you eat food?

You gain weight immediately when eating food or drinking liquids. You initially gain precisely as much as the food or the drink weighs.Eat 100grams worth of chocolate, and you’re instantly 100g heavier. Drink 1dl water, and you’re instantly 100g heavier. What happens after that depends on what you ate, and on your energy-balance, i.e. if you’re taking in more energy than you’re spending, being in balance, or using more energy than you’re taking in.For example, if your binge-eating of chocolate and pizza results in taking in 3500 kcal/day while your body burns only 2500/day at your current activity-level, then you have a surplus of 1000 kcals/day - you will gain weight at a rate of roughly 0.3 lb/day so after a 2-day weekend spent that way, you’ll be roughly 0.6lbs heavier than before the weekend. If you actually did the experiment though, you might find you gained more. That’s because eating more adds to your weight also by having more food passing through your digestive system, and that stuff also adds to your weight; even those parts of it that are just “passing through”.The liquid-balance reestablishes itself quick; drink a liter of water and you gain a kg, but it’ll take only 3–6 hours to return to your normal body-weight. In contrast, food can take a couple of days to pass through the system, thus it may take 1–2 days from the time you return to normal eating before you can see the true value you gained on the scales. (if you weigh yourself earlier than this, it’ll seem as if you’ve gained more than you actually have)

How long does it take to gain weight for anorexia?

i had anorexia and i started with 1200 calories at the hospital.
in the first week i gained about 0.3 kilos.
that was under bed rest to restrict my calorie expenditure.
every week they would increase my calorie intake by 200 calories.
by the end of 6 weeks i had increased my weight from 32kg to 37kg, so almost a kilo a week. in hospital the doctors aim for a kilo a week so perhaps aim for that as well.
as an outpatient it was obviously more difficult to put on weight (school, sport, more activity in general, and no more nurses constantly monitoring your every bite or move)
try and build up from 1200 calories to 2200-2400 calories with 6 meals a day. aim to eat with others so that they can keep an eye on you. its going to be HEAPS hard but if u have the determination and will to be healthy then you can do it.
it has taken me about 5 years to get to a normal weight for my height, and 2.5years to get to a weight that my doctors could accept and allow me to be officially discharged. the time it takes to gain weight is different for everyone. its usually easier to gain weight, but harder to get rid of the mental issues relating to anorexia and relapse is VERY common.
eating "proper" is usually very hard for anorexics. Eating "proper" doesnt necessarily make you gain weight. If you do heaps of exercise along with eating "normally" you may maintain a certain weight or even loose some.Like even when i began eating "normally" with my family i exercised heaps so i lost weight. It all depends on energy in and out.

How long does it take to gain 1kg? Is it possible to gain weight everyday?

Hey!As a certified personal trainer and all the knowledge I've accumulated as a health student at my university, the average and most HEALTHY way to gain weight would be about 0.5–1kg per week. This is the average guideline for either weight gain/loss (excluding muscle). I mention healthy because it will be the most consistent and sustainable without causing you to feel any negative or dramatic effects on your body and overall health. As for your second question, yes. As long as you end the day on a calorie surplus, meaning that you are eating above calorie maintenance (somewhere from 1500–2000 cal for most average individuals, but I would suggest you calculale it for yourself) then you are guaranteed to gain some kind of weight. A surplus of 3500 cal is equivalent to 1lb of fat if that helps put it into perspective.I would like to note that it might be different for everybody depending on metabolism, genetics, and other factors. In totality though, it would just come down to you being on a calorie surplus everyday of about 300–500 cal to get to about somewhere from 0.5kg-1kg by the end of the week.Hope this helps!Best,Rumil
