How Many Weeks Pregnant Is My Cat

How can cats tell if you are pregnant?

Animals have far better senses of smell than we do. One of the things they are especially equipped to do is smell hormones, so they are especially sensitive to scents of hormonal changes.I had several cats through my life who would warn me my period was about to start. This was quite useful once I figured out what they were telling me.My horse at the time I hit perimenopause noticed it before I did. (Although I have to confess to a small amount of probable denial…)Pregnancy would give them a field day for hormonally caused scent changes.

How can I tell how many weeks pregnant my cat is?

Every rescue and shelter would love to have a way to answer that question. I often ask the cat but they never tell. A vet can take an x-ray but that is not an exact science either. There are signs that they are getting ready to give birth that tells you that you are getting close to the big day. Her girth is helpful in knowing that she is indeed pregnant but size can be misleading They generally don’t show at all until about a month in. but…. If the cat is malnourished or just small in stature, things can look more advanced than they really are. A large litter can make us think that the day is close at hand.. but in the end.. the kittens come when they come.

How long are cats pregnant?

Cats gestate about 9 weeks or so, 58–67 days. It has been a very long time since I had a pregnant cat. At a particular time in the gestation period, it is possible to gently palpate the belly and feel marble sized lumps which are the developing fetuses, of course. This can be done at around 30 days into gestation. It is not a totally accurate method of finding out litter size, because some kittens can be tucked high up in a uterine horn and missed. Pregnant queens can develop rather large round bellies and their mammaries also are enlarged. My cat loved to lay on her back while I gently massaged her belly. I could also feel the kittens move around. My long ago cat, Shadrach, surprised me with seven kittens when I had only felt 4–5. She had made her nest in my closet, but woke me when she went into labor on my bed. Watching the kittens grow up was very interesting and really fun when they began to explore and play with one another and anything else they thought was entertaining.Pregnancy in Cats

My cat is 7 weeks pregnant and I can't feel the babies!?

My cat is about 7 weeks pregnant, happened by accident, and I can't feel her babies moving around. Now, before you get mad aout me not spaying her, I'll tell you the story. I had a vet appointment for Monday a few weeks ago, and she had been assessed and the appointment was for her to be spayed. Then on the Saturday before the Monday the idiot I live with just let her out because "she was sitting by the window and looked like she wanted out". She had never been outside before, and since I live in a small town and there is only 1 vet clinic for 4 hours, I got the soonest appt. I could, but she got out while she was in heat. She missed the appt. Because she was roaming somewhere and she became pregnant. Now, I have felt her stomach, and felt the kittens, but I can't feel them moving around. She is about 7-8 weeks pregnant and I think that you are supposed to be able to feel them moving around by then. I'm really worried and I can't get into my vet clinic unless it's a major emergency, nor can I afford the extra vet costs to get her checked. I phone and it will be about $300 to get an ultrasound, vet check, appt. Deposit etc. And I was asking for some advice with my whole situation! Please help!!

How can I tell how far along my pregnant cat is?

the first distinct signs of pregnancy happen around two or three weeks after mating. If pregnant, your cat's nipples will start to "pink up" and enlarge a bit in preparation for milk. Then, at between three and four weeks of pregnancy, she may get morning sickness and vomit from time to time. From four weeks onward, the kittens will be visible on an x-ray or sonogram, and may be able to be counted.
Finally, at five weeks your cat's abdomen will start to enlarge. At roughly seven weeks, the queen may begin to lose her appetite and refuse to eat. At this point, the kittens' movement can easily be felt. At seven to eight weeks, she will spend a lot more time grooming herself and might look for a place to have her kittens. Her nipples will then also become even more swollen. They might even expel milky fluid between two to five days before birth.
