How Much Alcohol Must You Consume Until The Stories Make Sense

Do Non-DOT 5 panel drug tests check for alcohol?

A 5 panel drug test only tests for the following:

amphetamines
cocaine
marijuana
opiates
PCP

But I would be careful because almost all court ordered diversion programs also include an EtG test. Why they didn't mention this test in your paperwork is anyone's guess; perhaps they are not using this test or maybe they are and just don't want you to know.

This test can easily be done on the urine sample you provided; and it doesn't cost much to do this test. (Actually it doesn't cost them anything because you pay for it in your court costs.) So I wouldn't know why they wouldn't do this test in addition to the 5 panel drug test; it doesn't make sense for them not to.

The EtG tests for metabolites that would be found in urine after someone ingests alcohol. These metabolites can be found in urine up to 80 hours from last alcoholic drink. (That's maximum time.)

If they told you to abstain from alcohol too, then it's best to follow their directives.

Government agencies are looking for any reason to increase revenue and expand their budgets. If they can keep you on the rolls longer, they will.

You say that you don't have much longer to go on probation, so why not hold on a bit longer? Once off probation you can go back to all the alcohol and drugs you want without fear of violating probation. So why take the chance now??

But if you want to take the chance and go with what the paperwork says then as long as they are only doing a 5 panel you will be fine. And the breathalyzer doesn't mean much. It will only detect levels if you are currently under the influence. As long as you don't show up to your classes within hours of drinking, you will be fine. (You process alcohol on an average rate of one average drink per hour. So unless you got blitzed the night before you will test all zeros on that breathalyzer by morning.)

Why doesn't alcohol affect me anymore?

I've been drinking since I was about 14 and I am now 29. When I was younger, I wouldn't stop drinking until I was wasted, but it never really took a super long time to get drunk. I'd say I averaged 3-5 (or more) times a week in frequency as a teen. At 17, I went through almost a 7 year period where I wasn't drinking much at all (was restricted by my significant other.) However, at 24, I tried coke and loved it. It was readily available constantly, so I did it *constantly*, from night till morning, for almost a year or so. It stopped yielding pleasant effects no matter how much I did, and (with a GREAT deal of difficulty), I stopped using it. But now the same thing seems to be happening with alcohol. It takes immense effort to get drunk or even a buzz. I took another hiatus from drinking last year for a year straight, until recently. I've only been drinking again for about two months or so, but I have to drink FAST and a LOT to get a buzz. Since I began drinking again, I have had some experiences of possible alcohol poisoning (hangover was intense and I couldn't even sit upright bc of the vertigo.) Could this account for my difficulty? Could this be related to the coke burnout? Any serious advice would be great and I apologize for the life story. Thanks.

As a spiritually awakened person, do you drink alcohol and eat meat? Should we stop this to awaken our spirituality?

Uptil May 2018, I was an occasional drinker. Nothing happened, so what made me stop? If it's not broken, why fix it?Let me start by saying that my Spiritual Awakening happened a lot before this. April 2017, to be more specific. So here's the story. First, reading about the Buddha's five basic precepts, I realized that if an Enlightened person has emphasized that just five key practices that can transform life, and one practice asks to not consume alcohol, then really, alcohol must have a bad influence on the journey to Self. Hmmm…Then, I kept seeing recurring signs from Goddess Kali. She's considered to be the consumer of all of man's lusts - alcohol, drugs, non-vegetarian food, etc. That's why, such things are offered to her idol at the alter. Her message was clear "leave alcohol and I will always be beside you".But finally, the nail really hit on the coffin when I realized, alcohol actually slows your physical body down. It hits you right in the nerves!I saw Sadhguru, mystical and intoxicated with life. And realized, he has something that alcohol only gives us for a few hours, without the hangover! If that's possible, why can't I have it too?And thus, began my conviction to elate my body and mind without the consumption of an external substance.Has it worked? I would like to think so, yes. Even though I was never an alcoholic, I do realize that the past months of my life have been my strongest yet.The same thought process was wait put me away from eggs. It wasn't just the thought. But as I went deeper into my Spiritual journey, I also started noticing that my body craved more healthy, raw foods and literally puked out processed stuff or things like meat and dairy. I am now a vegan. This is a sentence I did not imagine I'd say even a year ago.And no, I'm not against drinking. I'd probably indulge on my bachelorette party! But I've come to an inner knowing that doesn't require drinking to experience my Self. And that knowing has won over the temptation to drink. :)

Alcohol causing my Dissociation?

Well I think you already have mental issues and you are self-medicating. So I do not think it is the cause and effect you suggest. Of course being on a bender can make us feel pretty bad.
My friend suggests drinking plenty of "kidney cleaner" (water) and laying of the alcohol for a bit.

I have come across stories about the addiction of great writers to alcohol. How did it influence their style and thought?

Ernest Hemingway has been thought of as a drunken bully and someone whose suicide proved that he was a mentally unstable alcoholic. The truth is, while he did drink to excess at times and bragged about it, during his most productive years he usually kept to a strict schedule of rising at 4 AM and writing until noon, then going out on his fishing boat or off on some other adventure that did typically involved drinking with friends. There is a quote that has been attributed to Hemingway, "Write drunk, edit sober," but he never said that, there are no verifiable sources, it just sounds like something he might have said. His short stories and books, especially from the early years in Paris, are laced with descriptions of food and drink. His style and thought were affected by alcohol, but in the sense of celebrating and enjoying life to the utmost, not in so much of a depressive, negative sense; at least until towards the end when, after 10 concussions and gloomy physical and mental illnesses settling in, he finally reached for the shotgun.

Is alcohol really haram in Islam? Or is it okay for my friend to drink alcohol 'over the weekends in order to relax and find peace'?

Most Muslims will tell you that it’s strictly forbidden, and it is one of the biggest sins out there you can commit. But if you actually read the rest of the passage in the Quran of Al-Baqarah 2:219. You will read that it’s adviced not to drink it.“They ask you about intoxicants and gambling. Say, "In them is great harm, and a benefit for people; but their harm is greater than their benefit." They ask you how much are they to give, say, "The excess." Thus, God clarifies for you the signs that you may think.” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:219, Quran: A Reformist Translation)What’s the difference you might ask? Well, most Muslims see drinking alcohol almost like a crime, if murder or rape is number one, drinking alcohol is number two. But when it’s adviced not to do something, you can read it like a father who tells his son not to do something. There is a difference between advicing someone something, and not allowing them to do something at all. Yes, the Quran tells you to stay away from intoxicants. But treating Muslims who drink once in a while like kafirs (unbelievers/disbelievers), is IMO a bigger sin, because at that point, you decide to play God (Allah). So, to answer your question:Is alcohol really haram in Islam? Or is it okay for my friend to drink alcohol ‘over the weekends in order to relax and find peace’?It’s suggest that you don’t drink it, and stay away from it, because the benefits are smaller than the harm it can create (especially when you drink excessively). But then again who are we to judge you or your friend. So, it’s really something between him and God (Allah).

My boyfriend got mad at me for getting drunk?

That is nice of him to take care of you.. I get why partners react concerned..
I know it can be sad to see someone drunk who is falling and can't stand.. and also if it's a chick, all those other fears come about.
Maybe I prefer that next time you'll know how much you can drink or have him come meet you if you were to get that drunk. Or have a friend with you..
I'm not sure that I can handle 4 shots of anything? You might've drank too much for your size.
Don't feel embarassed.. If anything you were safe and just make the most of it
I'd like for partners to react a little less seriously just for the fact that they're not our parent. I spent how many years shaking my parents off me, only to meet that again in a partner? I kind of get a little bit miffed about that. But he did the right thing..
How to make it up to him? Just say you don't drink so you didn't know 4 shots was too much.
One drink such as rum and coke or sex on the beach has about 1.5 oz of alcohol. That is 6 counts, meaning that if you have one of those bottle pourer spouts, the pour lasts for 6 seconds..
Most shot glasses are one oz. A shot is supposed to be 1 oz. This is 4 counts, 4 seconds..
However some shot glasses are long and actually DOUBLE shots. This would be an 8 second pour, 2 ounces..
See 1 ounce as equal to 4 counts (4 seconds,) if using a pourer.. Just like 1 dollar is equal to 4 quarters..
One beer is equal to a glass of wine or a shot of liquor.
Most liquors like vodka and Crown royal etc are around 40 percent alcohol (80 proof,) that's how "strong" they are.
Malibu is only 20 something percent.. Schnapps or creme de menthes are also lower in rank.
The strongest is usually Bacardi 151 which is around 75% alcohol.. 150 proof.
You might do best with just a Malibu and pineapple or Malibu coke.. If it's too sweet, add some seltzer.. Since you do have to take your size into consideration and what you ate that day.

I have a temporary restraining order on me, long story but its only till febuary, am i allowed to own a gun?

You can own a gun (unless the restraining order includes an order prohibiting ownership or there are other disqualifying factors like a felony, drug/alcohol dependence, etc), but you can't LEGALLY BUY one from a dealer until the RO is lifted (assuming it a RO from a spouse, intimate partner, or child).

Lying on the Form 4473 is a very bad idea, regardless of whether or not you might get caught. As stated by others, that is a felony.

That said, some things in your story don't quite make sense. You don't need the RO lifted to "own a firearm for the military". However, if indeed you are in the military, based on the Lautenberg Amendment, you would not be able to be issued a weapon and (in the Army at least) you'd be processed out. I'm also confused about re-enlisting and going to MEPS; unless you served, got out, then decided to enlist again, you shouldn't be going through MEPS. And caught shooting somewhere you were not supposed to be....

All of this sounds like have way to many problems for your own good. Get your ducks in a row and THEN think about buying a gun.
