Call up each company and tell them the model number of your flute and ask them what that flute goes for brand new CURRENTLY. By knowing the current sell price for each of your flutes in brand new condition, you can then judge the current condition of your flutes and determine how much you should shave off of the new flute price. You can also ask each company if they have any of the same models of these flutes on sale as used flutes and how old they are....they will already be in great condition as most music stores won't sell a used instrument that isn't in top playing condition. Calling each company will give you the most accurate information as their websites sometimes don't display prices of new and/or used instruments...or if they do display the price, inevitably the current price will be higher. Well I had a look at the answers and can make the following observation. You sell a house for $800K that you bought for $600K and you have a mortgage of $400K owing on it you would have gross profit of $400K (800k - 400k) and a capital gain on the home of $200K (800k - 600k). You would have to pay the regular real estate fees for selling a hose plus any portion of the year’s property tax and other miscellaneous fees. So your net would be something less than $400K depending on the fees and that is before capital gains tax.If this is your principle residence and you live in Canada you do not pay capital gains tax. In the US you would have to pay capital gains tax on any part of the capital gains that exceeds $250K ($500K for married filing joint).
