How Much Can You Earn To Get Legal Aid In Victoria Australia

What is the legal drinking age in Australia?

Hi, The legal age to purchse alcohol in Australia is 18.

However, the 'Drinking' age is different. For example, the Drinking age in Victoria is 16, however u must be with an adult over the age of 18 if u want to drink alcohol.

In all, you still have to be over 18 to enter a nightclub.
If you are in a public bar you can drink at 16 if with someone over the age of 18 is with you.

If you would like more information on other States of Australia, check out ur local legal aid office or website.

Cheers

Is African gang violence in Melbourne (Australia) for real? If yes, how bad is it really?

There has been some media attention given to this issue. It has become a political matter because the Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull, has used it as an opportunity to criticize the Victorian State Government, for failing to ‘maintain law and order’. There is a state election in 2018 so the ‘law and order’ drum usually gets a beating by conservatives who see themselves as the experts in such matters. What I find breathtakingly hypocritical by our Prime Minister is that the Victorian State Government is blamed for some African youths conducting themselves in an anti-social manner, yet it is the Commonwealth Government, headed by Malcolm Turnbull, that makes the decisions on which immigrants should be allowed into the country in the first place! It was the Prime Minister who went to such lengths to state that it was African youths and African gangs that were the problem. In fact there are groups of disengaged young people in any large city that can get up to anti-social behaviour. Most of them are not employed, have dropped out of school, come from under privileged Families - anyone can write the script - the colour of those involved is rather secondary to the issue I would have thought.I digress. I think there is an issue with African (and other) youths and anti-social behaviour, but that it is blown out of all proportion by the media and certain politcians. In fact, it is the law abiding nature of Australians generally, that makes this aberration such a novelty. There does appear to be argument as to whether these youths form part of a ‘gang’ subculture or not. The police themselves seem to indicate that it is not gang related, but some politicians and sections within the media are saying it is.For all that, Melbourne remains a safe city, especially considering its’ population of more than four million. The idea that people are hiding in their houses and too scared to come onto the streets is arrant nonsense. I hear that police are already having discussions with East African community leaders and expect this to have an affect on the issue. In all likelihood there will be a handfull of youth involved and once police get a couple of names, the rest will be rounded up in no time and this will be last month’s news.

American attorney wanting to practice in Australia...any advice?

The information provided by the previous answerer is excellent and details all necessary requirements for admittance to the Australian profession once you have been granted a visa, but obtaining your visa is the first step.

Legal Practitioners, both Barrister and Solicitor are listed on the SOL (Skilled Occupation List) and are worth 60 points (the maximum). This is a strong indication that lawyers are in demand and in short supply in Australia. The only people who have any chance of being granted a visa to emigrate to Australia are those whose occupation is listed on the SOL so that's a good start.
Go to http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-s... take the points test to see if you qualify; and check out the Skill Matching Database to see if your occupation has any jobs listed.
Go to http://www.seek.com.au/ and http://www.careerone.com.au and also register with http://www.mahlab.com.au/index.cfm?pageID=42&. These sites will provide a great deal of information on job opportunities in the legal profession.

The ANZ Bank in Australia evicted me without legal notice. What action can I take?

I'm guessing you had a mortgage with anz and were not up to date with your repayments. Assuming you are still actually in the house (don't move out, you have a better chance of staying if you don't).The best method to put a complete halt to all legal matters is to make a claim to the financial ombudsman. I know someone who did this and it delayed matters for 12 months (because that's how long it took them to investigate). At some point, you will have to move out or get up to date with your payments (even then may or may not stop the legal action).Provide more information, or seek legal advice.Ps I'm not a lawyer, just happened to be on the wrong side of someone who knew how to play the game.

In Australia, if an underage person buys a condom with the intent of having sex, what is done to prevent this?

There’s an old story about the teenager who goes to the pharmacist to buy condoms. The chemist asks him if he wants the three pack or the dozen.“Gimme the dozen”, says the kid, “I might have a big night ahead!”The chemist chuckles and asks “Is that right?”“Yep, my new girlfriend’s parents are going out to the opera tonight and won’t be home until late so this could be my big chance!”When the kid arrives at the girlfriend’s house that night she opens the door and remarks how smart he looks in his new suit. “Yes” he says, “change of plans, we’re going to the opera.”“Oh! I didn’t know you liked opera!”“I didn’t know your dad was a pharmacist.”
