How Much Can You Make If You Own A Bakery

How to open your own bakery?

I want to eventually some day open my own bakery somewhere in Europe. I live in the US now, and am about to start college for my bachelors degree. What should I take, how else can I prepare to do this?

Owning a Bakery and recipe question..?

Yes, you can use either your own recipes, box mixes, recipes found on the internet, General Mills basic cake mixes and fix them to your standards or whatever you wish to do.

It is your interpretation that people will be paying for and the fact that they don't have to make this stuff! I never use a box mix according to the printed instructions on it anyway!! I always add spices, extracts, nuts, fruits and liquores!! I mix and match a lot! I put unusual things together.

How about chocolate cake with onions?? with green chile??

Note: General Mills has cake mixes in 50 and 100 pound sacks! It is much less expensive to purchase these and "repair" them to your liking than to buy grocery store size mixes!! Same thing, just in larger quantities! Go visiting any and all Wholesale Supply houses in your area! You will learn a lot this way about commercial baking. I purchased GM 66 general purpose flour, for breads and pastry crusts, puff pastry and a lot of other things, I cannot remember the GM cake flour number, but it is best for making cake recipes. I purchased 50 pound barrels of shortening, whole cases of eggs, Sugars in 50 pound sacks as Jo and I didn't like picking up the 100 pound ones!

It will take you about $100,000 to start your bakery and run for 6 months!! This includes equipment, supplies, insurance, and licenses. Word of mouth is the best advertising, but now with the internet you can have a page too, both blogspot and fb or something to attract people, and of course put up flyers in laundromats, church bulletin boards and neighborhood grocery stores and other places,

People want the familiar!! Vanilla, Chocolate, and Strawberry! Then they want it to taste like Furrs! So yes, you can use mixes if you want and sell it as your own just as it comes from whatever size package.

Do you need a degree to start your own bakery?

I was thinking about starting my own bakery,
but I was curious to know would I have to get
a culinary degree or what degree would I need
if I need one at all. Please help?

How much can I make as a bakery owner?

Capital alone is not going to be enough. You need a good business plan and people who are experienced in bakery procedures. Also, you need some more detail in your question. What location? If you plan to be located right next door to Domique Ansel's Bakery, you're unlikely to get any customers, since he's got a proven track record and you don't. The same goes for a location in a poor part of town. The locals won't have the funds to pay for "high end bakery products", whatever those are.To determine how much money you can make, you need to determine how many of each products you can bake and sell in a given day and how much money it costs to make them.Sales price - Cost price - Other costs = profitsOther costs: electricity, water, gas, employee wages, taxes, rent. There is a good chance you won't make any profits until you've gathered enough of an audience.

If I want to own a bakery what should I major in in college?

Duh, if you want to run a business you STAY AWAY from colleges and drop out of school, the sooner the better. Immigrants who never attended US schools have about 80% success rate in running businesses. Their children who attend American public schools run about 20%, same as American kids.

What you want is to get in with some small business owner who will teach you the business. It is best to marry this person, but that is not entirely necessary.

You own a bakery and your customers are complaining that your bread is too dense, how can you make it lighter?

Well if you're using yeast (which is a fungus like organism) then they emit carbon dioxide as part of their digestion of the sugars in the batter. This causes the little "air pockets" in the bread. To enhance their work you have to use the best biological conditions to accommodate them. So to make it less dense, meaning more air bubbles throughout you could.
1. Use more yeast
2. Make sure the temperature is comfortable for them (not to cold (fridge) not to hot)
3. There is enough sugars for them to prosper (usually 1 tsp per cup of flour)
4. The bread is thoroughly kneaded to disperse the yeast evenly

Also you may possibly be using baking soda which emits carbon dioxide as part of a chemical process but you did say biology so...

I want to start my own business as a bakery but I want to house homeless LGBT Kids. Which one should I choose I can't decide.?

You could do both or mix them in with each ither. I’m sure you could find some grants and donors to help you set up some sort of half way house or group home for homeless lgbt youth. As others have said - you could do a bakery and donate some proceeds to an existing location. Or maybe you could have a bakery where some of the workers could be live in homeless lgbt staff. Or you could set up a group home for lgbt youth and have part of the activities there revolve around bakimg classes.
What is your skill set? What is your degree in? If you have more of a skill set for a social worker and you can get the grants - focus on a group home and do bakey classes for residents. If you are more of a chef, go for the bakery and donate profits to a lgbt halfway house and maybe make a point of employing homeless lgbt youth.

How much money do I need to start a bakery?

The total approximate investment to start a bakery business is Rs 15 lakhs. However, the cost of equipment and location can lead to a considerable variance in the approximate cost.Follow the below-mentioned steps to open a bakery business:Choose a Location for the Bakery Business: For a bakery, the ideal location is a reputed market or high-end shopping streets where footfall is high. Ideally, front area shops at the ground floor which are easily accessible and visible are apt for the bakery business.Get Required Licenses: Similar to the QSR format, the bakery business also requires five licenses: FSSAI license, TIN/VAT Registration, Local Municipal Corporation Health License, Police Eating House license, and the Fire License. Out of all the licenses, FSSAI, Tin and Local Municipal Corporation Health License are the most important ones to have in the starting of the outlet.Manpower/Staff: Unlike the QSR and Food Truck, Bakery shops need an expert manpower because both the taste as well as the presentation is important in the case of baked goods. For a high-end bakery, you need a Head Chef, Chef De parties, Commi level Chef and Helpers, plus Service Boys and a Cashier at the display and the serving area.Kitchen Equipment and Raw Material: The kitchen equipment is very expensive for bakery business since each equipment is made up of stainless steel which is tough and long lasting. The major equipment required in the bakery are Planetary Mixers, Oven, Deep Fridge, Cooling Fridge, Working table, Gas stove, Cylinders, storage utensils and other equipment.Display Area: The display area or the front end of the bakery business should be well designed and created in a manner that each and every item is noticeable so as to attract the walk-in customers.POS and Billing Software: The POS software is not just billing software anymore. Equipped with powerful integrations such as Inventory management, the POS software is now the only software you need in your restaurant. I would recommend POSist.Marketing and Branding: Marketing and branding are important for any business to flourish, and a bakery is no stranger to this. Get a properly designed logo and display board from a professional designer. This will not only help you to create your own unique identity but will also help in your branding while packaging. For more information on how to set up your own bakery you can refer to this article: How-to-Open-Bakery-Business-in-IndiaHope it helps!
