Should I switch driving Uberx to drive UberXL to make more money?
No in general, but it depends on demand. If you live near an airport, many people will request an XL because of their luggage or because they are wanting more leg room after their flight. It can be almost double pay.If you are in town and driving short rides, smaller vehicles make better sense for less gas and easier to maneuver.I accept both X and XL The only times I regret X is when I am driving 45 minutes to dropoff with X and thinking to myself how they could not have fit into a compact car… I do it anyway.

Plus when there are events like football games and concerts, UberXL becomes a much more popular choice.I drove in a college town (Fayetteville, AR). It is quite common for college students to order an Uber X, but then try to stuff more people inside than what an UberX can legally carry.In some locations you can limit yourself to UberXL only, but this is not available everywhere. Uber wouldn’t let me do it in Fayetteville, though some other drivers were able to. Anyway, the students also knew that there was a good chance they would get an UberXL vehicle anyway if they ordered an UberX.So, there was a constant problem of people cramming too many passengers in an UberX, and griping when the UberX drivers wouldn’t let them. This wastes a ton of time for the UberX drivers and it is completely unfair to them. It also causes a lot of lower ratings for drivers, because passengers will ding their rating for not allowing them to cheat the system. Don’t do this!I had no problem picking these groups up. The more the merrier. I’m sure they thought they were getting a cheaper ride. However, as soon as the ride was over, I contacted Uber and had the ride upgraded to the UberXL price.
