How long does it take to be a certified x-ray tech and is there a demand for that position in dallas-forth?

A minimum of two years in an accredited school is required to become eligible to take the registry exam in radiography. There are several schools in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, but getting in is very competitive. There are almost always open positions for registered technologists in this area. The "less that a year" programs lead to a NCT, or non-certified technologist license. Most area hospitals do not hire NCT's because they are very limited in what they can do.

What is an NCT X-Ray Technician and How much money do they make? And is there demand on it?

There is a school for this, they offer 120 hours based on Texas standards, I just don't get this whole NCT (Non-certified Technician) and what's the difference between this person and the person who studies for 2 years.. If you have any information about it and it might help me please share with me. Thanks.

What is the difference between a cect whole abdomen, and CT enterography?

CECT Abdomen is contrast enhanced CT scan of the abdomen. In this, and intravenous (IV) contrast is given which will provide details of the blood vessels (arterial & venous both) and help in differentiating and diagnosing different conditions. It is a good modality to see the liver, pancreas, biliary system, veins, arteries etc. But the insides of the intestines (bowels) cannot be seen very well as they are generally in a collapsed state. So, in CT Enterography, they also give an oral (via mouth) agent, which helps to distend the intestines and provide details of the insides of the intestines as well. This is in addition to the IV agent.

What are the advantages of a chest MRI over a chest CT scan? Can a chest MRI detect additional things which a chest CT scan will miss?

MRI scans are better for looking at soft tissues. Bones are nearly invisible on MRI scans.CT scans are better for looking at bones. They do show some detail of soft tissues but not as much as an MRI can.CT scans are faster, sometimes taking only seconds to complete, and usually cheaper than MRIs, but they require use of ionizing radiation, which may increase the risk of cancer later in life. Generally, the faster the CT machine, the higher the radiation dose rate.MRI scans do not produce any ionizing radiation, but the patient may need to lie still for 45 - 90 minutes, depending on the body part to be imaged. Most MRI machines cannot image patients with implanted metal parts, like pacemakers or non-MRI-safe surgical clips, plates, or screws. CT scans don’t care about metal parts, though implanted metal items may produce artifacts that hide important details. Each imaging modality has advantages, depending on what you want to examine.

What is the centring point of a chest x-ray?

A chest X-ray should in the upright position at 72 inches (known as a teleradiograph) because the rays become parallel and eliminates magnification. When possible a chest should be done in a PA projection because the heart is closest to the receptor again to minimize magnification and the penumbra. The chin is placed above the top of the receptor making sure that C7 is at the top approx. 8cm for a man and 7cm below C7 is the 7th thoracic vertebrae and that is where the central ray should enter the patient, perpendicular to the receptor.
