So basically the problem is you don't have your ID? think about it , which is cheaper , applying for a lost ID (I think costs 500 now?) or just paying the NOL fine .. There are only 2 NOL penalties carrying 200AED fine, as follows: - Failure to pay the due tariff or keep the ticket until the end of trip. - Misusing subscription or membership cards (expired card, using a card of somebody else or difference in location of use shown on the card). You had 3 weeks you know. I still don't see why they took your ID as you claim , that is not necessary I'd think. Plus my understanding is that when NOL or Salik runs out you have a grace period to pay. It sounds your card was expired though. So you need to explain what you did not mention about this part. In any case you can always raise a complaint to RTA head office about it. Edit: @H / Dutch I am just saying it is not that smart of the asker to stay without an official ID just because he doesn't wish to pay that fine perhaps. The ID is more important than a NOL transport card which he can live without. Just to make the point.

In January 2011, state reps are going to sign a house bill to abolish this surcharge program. The same reps that were for these surcharges are now against them. I love my state (born and raised) When I get tickets, I pay them. Please don't respond because you obviously are not from Texas and have no idea what is what. Hello, as most of the answers had already informed you, if the ticket is booked through IRCTC/tatkal/premium tatkal/special train then at least 1 passenger would need to carry the ID proof irrespective of the train/class you are travelling. If there are no passengers carrying the ID proof then all the passengers would be treated as without ticket and charged accordingly.Also note, if there's any senior citizen passenger in the group, then they would as well need to carry their ID proof. Failing to which, he/she would be considered as without ticket and would have to pay the full amount of the respective passenger.However if the ticket is booked through PRS and is general quota in sleeper class then there would be no charges if no passenger has the ID proof. But if there is a senior citizen passenger, it is mandatory for them to carry the ID proof.If the tickets are booked through PRS and is general quota in 3AC/2AC/1AC/Rajdhani/Shatabdi/Duronto (including sleeper for Duronto)/Humsafar/Tejas/Mahamana/Any other premium special train then carrying an ID proof is a must for at least one passenger and the senior citizen passenger if any. Failing to which, the full group of passenger would be treated without ticket and would have to pay fine along with the full fare of ticket.I hope this helps.
