How is the boys’ hostel at Seth GS Medical College? Is it better to stay at home and attend BJMC or go to a hostel at Seth GS?

Hello Ansh!I personally have no idea about the boys’ hostel at GS. However, from what I've heard, the security isn't all that good out there. It's better to move out to a place where you have a close relative present. It helps a lot when you have sudden procedures shoved upon you and need money/ a parent/guardian's signature. Else, hostelites often have to opt for forging someone's signature. Of course, all of this could be avoided if you choose a college close to home. Not staying at a hostel means you don't have to end up a victim to ragging. (Yes, it still exists, and even though it isn't as awfully disastrous and blood-curling as they show in movies, it still is a mess, especially if you end up somewhere through an AIQ seat.)You get to be the king of your own schedule, and not bound up by in-time, seniors, etc.Lastly, nothing beats maa ke haath ka garma garam khaana after a long and frustrating day at college :)These are the general points. Besides these, what needs to be looked at is the amount of hands-on experience that you would get in your clinics. (Since lectures are something that can be balanced off by self study, and no matter which govt institute you end up in, teaching isn't something huge that students look forward to.)In GS, which is in Parel, Mumbai, the patient footfall is quite high, but since it's a suburban region, the type of patients are usually similar. Hence, there would be disorders that you would get a lot of patients on, and others which you wouldn't even have seen. However, in BJ, even though the footfall is less than that of GS, patients come not only from all over the city, but also from peripheral rural areas. And hence, students get to observe and study all the pathologies that they come across in their textbooks, thus leading to an enriched understanding of the concepts. So from my point of view, I believe BJ should be better since you live in Pune.(But again, all this is simply my opinion, you should consider your choices and weigh your options correctly before choosing to end up at either of the places.)Hope this helps!Cheers,SaKi

How is life at the KEM medical college in Mumbai?

How much is the stipend during an internship at Seth G.S. Medical College and KEM Hospital?

Well , the stipend during internship is pretty low in Maharashtra medical colleges as compared to other states despite making the students pay a higher margin of fees for the course. For MBBS - 6000/- per month ( paid as two months usually)For PT - 1758/- per month ( paid monthly)For OT - ~ 1700/-Though there have been protests & strikes in the past demanding an increase, ( few months back too!) , Implementation of the Same might take some more time probably :(

Which one is better: AIIMS vs Seth GS Medical College, Mumbai.

AIIMS Delhi of course tops the list without a doubt. Comparing other Aiims and Seth, well it's not so easy. It is entirely your decision as to which college u want to prefer.Seth is a very old and established college. It has good education and clinical exposure as well. And it is in a metro city so gives u good PG coaching as well. But then as u may know, it makes you sign a bond. Also living conditions in the hostel are not that good.New Aiims such as Jodhpur and Bhopal are recently constructed, So the hostel and mess are quite good and so is the college. And even though the college is new it (particularly Jodhpur) has developed considerably. Also there's no bond and there is a preference system for PG in Aiims. Plus if you are more interested in research Aiims gives u an edge. Also Aiims in your resume would give u an edge over other persons if you intend to go abroad. Definitely clinical exposure would be less but in 3 more years (i.e. by the time u actually have to do clinics) it wud be good enough. So, order of preference of choice acc to me should beAIIMS DelhiAIIMS JodhpurSeth GSAIIMS BhopalAIIMS RishikeshAIIMS BhubaneshwarAIIMS PatnaAIIMS Raipur

What are the best government medical colleges to study MBBS, after AIIMS?

There is a list published by India today which is widely available. You can use that list:But that list is often include the area of campus and infrastructure: which are better in college which are funded by central government (AIIMS, JIPMER, MAMC/LHMC/UCMS(partially funded by state government as well)).But I will tell you the college and hospitals in which I have experience:CMC vellore: they are really good in what they do, because every member of this institute is dedicated to what they do. I got this experience when I visited this place for a workshop for a week and I stayed in campus. You will learn a lot at this institution.AIIMS Delhi is good as well: because they have a pressure to do good because its under direct control of center and lots of funds for research. You can say you will learn a lot.AFMC: soso, its also highly funded being an army college. I won’t highly recommend it.Seth GS and KEM (my alma mater): The place is very small and crowded you will not like it (India today dont like it because of this reason), but we have legacy. Our first dean (Dr. JN Mehta) with other personality like Dr. BC Roy forwaded the case to center to make AIIMS in new Delhi instead of dehradun. See the screenshot below:KEM hospital was the keystone in bringing lots of advancements in indian modern medicine. KEM hospital did lots of first, Infact the first HOD of cardiovascular sugery (Profull Kumar Sen) was the only member of the team which was investigating the hear transplant and he also performed several experiments in KEM hospital. But christian bernard did that first among all members.AIIMS did sucessful transplant almost after 20 years of Dr. PK Sen. Dr. PK Sen brought cardiovascular surgery to India. There are other example, like KEM hospital is the only hospital to start its own journal of medicine. And I can feel the hunger and passion the the eyes of doctors at KEM hospital, but they are not highly funded like AIIMS, JIPMER, MAMC. But still we manage to do lots of things like cheap liver transplant program, which is one of the oldest cheap liver transplant program in India.

Which is a better college: KGMC, VMMC, Seth GS, mumbai, SMS Jaipur, GMCH Chandigarh, or LHMC? Rank them.

None of the above mentioned colleges have internal PG seat reservation.Seth GS has 1 year rural service bond or penalty sum of Rs 10,00,000.LHMC has 2 years rural service bond (for penalty sum, click participating institutions tab under AIPMEEE )SMS has 2 years or penalty sum of Rs 5,00,000.So, if you don't have any city preference my First choice would go to LHMC,Delhi (for you, I mean) for sure.2. VMMC, Delhi3. Seth GS, Mumbai4. KGMC, Lucknow5. GMCH, Chandigarh6. SMS, JaipurPS:- Sorry for the English. Just too lazy to write it properly.Edit1 : My answer is based on 2016 data. Please refer to MCC.

What is the procedure to get a patient admitted in KEM hospital?

Go to OPD or Emergency. If doctor think that there is any indication for admission in hospital he/she will also you to get admitted. In short you require a genuine reason to get admission in Kem because it's a very busy public hospital. Or you can do in Indian way by using your contacts.

Which is better, MAMC or Seth GS?

Both Mamc and Seth GS (Kem) are great academically however most students pick Maulana Azad medical college over Seth GS because of multiple reasons likeThe idea of going to New Delhi is extremely exciting as Delhi is hub of medical educationin India (With legendary Aiims New Delhi)Maharashtra has higher fees and extremely pathetic bonds like 1 year bond (can be evaded by giving 10 lakh ) and some colleges like Grant medical college have bonds that stop you from going to a foreign country for 5 years on other hand Delhi has no such thing. Most toppers from India choose Mamc so domino effect comes into play here (who wouldn't like studying with smart people ?)Seth Gs although is extremely good interms of academics but there is nothing so great in terms of infrastructure thay can pull people out of this trend.Infrastructure of other colleges like Lmtmc , Nair and Grant is not very great like Lmtmc has limited and pathetic hostels , Nair has limited hostels and Grant is riddled with corruption ,inefficient people and crumbling infrastructure so again no pull factor from other colleges which can make Mumbai a better choice and in the end they are government college so teaching is okay okay.If you have a crazy AIR then Delhi is a great choice through All India quote however Mumbai is great too if you are okay with negative points.
