How Much Horsepower Does My 305 V8 Have

How much horsepower does a chevy 305 have?

I have a 1986 Monte Carlo SS and my 305 is around 180 horsepower.
Nothing done to it ... Bone stock ... If yours is built up, I would guess it's wound 200 horsepower, maybe 225 at the very most.

305 engines were built to be "emissions friendly"..
They aren't very fast.. They are perfect for cruise nights..
That's what I do with my Monte Carlo SS..

How much horsepower does a stock 1986 camaro z28 with 305?

It doesn't sound right but it's true. The 305's of that year had 215HP. The '87 Z28 had the return of the 350 but it only produced 225HP. The 80's performance numbers were bad in all cars because of the EPA. They didn't have the technology to produce high horsepower motors with low smog ratings like they do today.
----TPI wont make much of a difference, you still have a smog motor. You would have to throw bucks at that car to make some power. Heads, Cam, Gears. Easily over 3grand in parts and labor. Your best bet if you want to keep that car is to buy a crate motor. I would only throw money at that car if it is in nice shape. If the body is wavy, and everything on the car is slowly falling apart, I wouldn't waste any more money on the car. I would buy a newer car. Good luck.

How much horsepower does a stock 1985 Chevy C10 with a 305 5.0 samall block with a four barrel have?

Boy are you barking up the wrong tree. 100,000+ motor in a 23 year old truck and you are trying for more power out of old grand dad. The smogged up 1985 motor was only able to make 190 hp new with 4 bbl rodchester. Please for me drive that old truck carefully and save money to purchase a more modern ride. You know fuel injection electronic controls and saftey features gas tank inside the frame and air bags?

How much horsepower would a 305 small block stock have?

The LG4 engine, the Quadrajet carbed standard 305 from 1980 through 1988 generally had about 145 HP and 240 torque (numbers here may vary a little). This was GM’s most common V8 engine in use during the 1980s. It received a small bump in both HP and torque in 1987 with the advent of the hydraulic roller cam.

How Much Horsepower Does A Small Block 305 Chevy Engine Have?

You have been told reasonably accurate information already.
You can sharply gain power and mileage if you get rid of the SMOG cam and put one of my special grinds in. However, you'll really never set the world on fire with that engine. The bore is too small and the heads are designed around that small bore. I can still pick it up 50HP, extend your RPM range by 1,000 and 2-3 MPG with a cam, though. Will still idle perfectly.

About how much horsepower does a bored out 305 have?

depends on what is inside the motor cam, valves, etc.
boring only increases displacement.

How can you get 350 horsepower out of a 305 Chevy small block?

The knock on the 305 is money (it costs the same as a 350 and produces less power) and small bore size (it's a long stroke engine that doesn't rev well and there isn't a lot of room for larger valves). If you're buying an engine, get a 350. Or even a 302 or 307. But if you already have a 305....Super Chevy built a 305 back in 2010. Trick Flow heads, better cam (but still a street grind), dual plane manifold with 750 cfm carburetor, 1.5:1 rocker arms, long tube headers - and that's it. All top end mods, you might not even have to pull the engine. 362HP at 5,800 RPM. That's probably about 275 at the rear wheels, and you'd need a very well thought out cold air intake to get those numbers, but it's doable. And since they left the low compression pistons in place, you could probably throw at least a mild supercharger on there (maybe 8 PSI) and get to 350 at the rear wheels if the bottom end is in good shape. 305 Small Block Chevy Dyno Test - Super Chevy Magazine
