How to work on my mental game for hockey?

The mental aspect of any game is a difficult thing to explain. It is a very important part of the game, especially one as physically demanding as hockey. Because this is such a physical game, you need to be mentally focused to be able to execute at a high level, no mater what skill level you are playing. To be that much better than the other guy gives you a tremendous edge.

I guess one way to work on your own mental toughness or awareness is to "get into a zone" before each game. How do you do that? Well, most will say you have to find your own way. Others will say if you follow a certain set of steps you can do the same thing. I am of the belief that you need to develop your own method.

You almost have to become a different person as soon as you step onto the ice. You have to put away your thoughts of anything else and think of nothing but the task at hand. In this case playing hockey to the best of your ability.

For me, my methods are kind of simple. I listen to music. You will se a lot of athletes listening to music right before a big performance. This allows them to totally leave the realm of reality and step into the music for a few minutes to clear the head of random, space filling thoughts, allowing you to concentrate thoughts in just a few directions. Some people meditate, some people sleep for several minutes even. Whatever works for you is up to you. Find a method that you like and tweak it a bit until you are able to focus only on hockey.

Once you are able to do that, you need to in-vision yourself running through the different scenarios you will encounter in any given hockey game. Picture yourself succeeding in every situation. A step there a deke here a stick move there... This way, when you actually encounter that situation, your brain already has a plan of action worked out. Your muscles are trained to react to rapid almost instinctual thoughts, so the less you time have to think about something and just react to it will make you that much better prepared to get yourself out of any given situation on the ice.

It's not easy and you will have to work at it, but the benefits are worth it.

Good luck, Steve.

How much is my Eric Lindros card worth?

I have a Eric Lindros hockey card made by 7th inning sketch that shows Eric playing for the Ottawa Generals of the OHL. The date on the card is 1990 and it appears to be a rookie card but I'm not sure as it only gives stats for the '89 season. Does anyone know if this card has any value?

What is the best time to trade intraday ,short buy and short sell to get the highest profits in BSE and NSE?

Simple answer. No Best Time to trade Intraday. You have to find the best time yourself. Hear me out.I can share my common observation and it has been proven wrong various times. First line is my observation and second line is where I am proven wrong.Market is volatile in first 30 minutes, so do not trade in it but at the same time I have seen major moves coming in this time and market remaining stagnant after that.Trend comes somewhere between 09:45 to 11:15 or 11:30 am. This is also the time when I have seen my positions exactly stagnant.Markets are stagnant after this till 12:30 or 01:00 pm. Sometimes trend comes at this point too.at 01:15 pm the trend comes. Sometimes it doesn’t.At 02:45 pm also sometimes a trend or a breakout comes. But I cannot trade it for Intraday cause it has failed many times and what If I get stuck overnight. So you see, there is no specific answer to your question. This you have to sort out yourself based on what intraday time frame you are using. I use 1 hour time frame in intraday. So I check for trends at 10, 11 12, 1 because if the trend is coming it will be at the closing price i.e. the last 15 minute of an hourly candle. On half hour candle it will be different for a trend. on 5 minute candle, again a different time. Continuous trend can be found on 1 minute. But to ask what is the best time, answer to that depends on what trading system you are using. Your answer stems from a belief that there is some holy grail for intraday when there is not.My simple advice is, Keep It Simple. Observe the market. Use the indicators as help, but do not depend on them. Best indicator is price and volume along with horizontal support and resistance lines(works for me. you might need something else for yourself). Before putting a trade, research what works for you according to your understanding of markets. And then you will know answer that what is the best time for intraday trade.Note - There are so many stocks. Around 200 in FNO itself. Trend is coming every minute. You have to identify according to your system.Apart from it, there are many other thing that you need to understand. Part of it have answered in another post. Read those 3 points to understand what I am saying. Rohit Singh's answer to What is Zerodha Varsity? Is it useful?

Is Hell really eternal?

I'm religiously ambiguous, but I believe in God. I also believe in Heaven and Hell, but does Hell really have no end? A lot of people say it doesn't and others say that Hell's not really everlasting. I can see the point of the second camp. I mean, I definetly believe that sinners will pay the price, but if you were punishing your kid, you wouldn't want your kid to suffer an ETERNAL punishment, would you? That's my opinion. Agree or disagree?

Why don't NHL players wear full Visors/cages on there helmets?

Put one on and you will see why. They are big and bulky and block a good portion of your visibility. Sure, taking a puck to the face is the price you may pay, but hey, hockey players are the toughest players of any sport.

Hockey Intermission Activites?

Off the top of my head, with a limited budget, the best I have seen crowds react to is:

1) Goalie races. Have four staff members or volunteers dress up in goaltender equipment (hopefully they have their own or can borrow). They skate a lap of the ice. The catch - they all try to take each other out.

2) Dash for cash (? I don't remember what we called it). Get one contestant, blind fold him/her, and place them at one of the faceoff circles. Have a prize (say a stuffed bag with a money symbol on it) located somewhere on the other side of the ice. Instruct the crowd to cheer when the contestant is going the right way and boo if the contestant is going the wrong way. Kind of like hot and cold.

3) Kids Know Best/Newly Wed Game. Pick two contestants. Ask one contestant 3 questions about him/herself (other contestant cannot hear), this contestant will write the answers on a poster board. Bring both contestants out during the intermission and ask the other contestant the same questions. Sample question = Who is [contestant 1]'s favorite player?, or if its Newly Wed, you can make it somewhat tricky like "Where was you're first kiss?"

4) Mini-Games. Now this can really be a plus for your organization. Let the players in for free, but sell tickets to the family and friends. This is a win-win. Team up with a hockey association in your area and its sure to be a great investment. Girls, boys -- ages from 3-10... its gets a little too old after that.

Even if the contestants get it wrong, give them a prize anyway. Not necessarily the grand prize, but don't let them walk away empty handed :)

Is Hell Real?

The concept of a fiery hell is based on man's tradition and has no Biblical backing. The Bible says the wages sin pays is death Romans 6:23. It also says that the dead are not conscious Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10. It never says that God set up a fiery hell and installed the devil there to torment people. Job and David both prayed that God would not leave them in hell Job 14:13 and Acts 2:25-27. The word that is translated hell is Hades or Sheol, and means grave, or common grave of mankind that we all go to when we die. Job and David were showing that they believed in the resurrection and prayed that God would not leave them in the sleeplike state of death forever, but would bring them back to life in paradise. Romans 6:7 shows that everyone who dies is aquitted from their sin, so why would God send someone to a place to be tormented forever if they paid the price for sin already?
