How Much Longer Can My Body Run On 500cals A Day

What would happen to my body on 400 calories a day?

Old question, but none of this is correct. It depends on how much weight you have to lose and how healthy you are. It also depends on how you get to 400 calories per day. You can’t just go from 2000 calories per day to suddenly 400. This would make anyone sick. Plenty of people lose weight by going low-no cal and keep it off long term. You are not going to just drop dead in a couple of days because you didn’t eat 2000 calories/3 meals plus snacks for a few days. Media and government brainwashing. Throwing money and wasting food all while getting fatter. Most people who think they need to eat this much are overweight themselves. If it were true that 2000 is a must, then they’d all be skinny. Instead you have massive amounts of people who are 2000 and still trying to lose.

How long to run to burn 500 calories?

I run on a treadmill or outside at approximately 5 mph-how long should I run at this pace to burn 500 calories? because if I burn 500 calories a day, thats -1 lb a week if my eating stays the same, right?

How dangerous is the 500 calories-a-day diet?

When I was 17 years old, I lost 30 pounds in 4 months on a 500 calorie diet. I also lost my period and some of my sanity. You see, to sustain a diet that low you have to know the caloric value of everything you eat, weigh it and make sure you don't accidentally eat more. You also get to go hungry every single day. After a while, an exhaustion will settle in your bones that you can't shake and you'll be cold all the time. Your hair will start to fall out. You will be thin, yes, but the weight distribution won't be pretty. And then, if you keep this up long enough, the cravings will start. If you give into them just once (and you will, trust me) you will eat everything in sight. And then hate yourself and restrict again. Your weight will fluctuate, your metabolism will be ruined. It took me two years to get out of that spiral of self destruction and a year more to get my metabolism up and running again. The trick: don't fight your own body. Work with it. I now eat 3 meals a day, every day, whatever I want. Just one rule: one full plate per meal, no seconds. That's it. The cravings for unhealthy things stopped and I now find myself eating healthy things regularly because I feel like it instead of some obligation to an insane diet. I have been at my ideal weight for years now thanks to this. And it costs me zero effort.Do not think you can cheat yourself to your perfect body by eating so little. Your body will punish you for it and then some.

How long can I eat 300-500 calories a day for?

I eat 300-500 cal a day. I burn 200-300 calories a day

I take a multivitamin and stuff.

Eating under 500 calories a day?

This is dangerous and unsafe. If you work out "excessively" you need more than 500 calories. Even without "excessive" workouts you need more than 500 calories. This is EXTREME dieting, which is unsafe and can have adverse affects on your health. You may lose weight quickly at first, but your body may also go into "starvation mode" where it tries to hold onto what it has. It's a safety mechanism. You may also end up in the hospital. Or when you begin eating more than 500 calories per day (because you will eventually, nobody LIVES on 500 cal/day), you may put weight on very quickly. You are going to screw up your body's metabolism and it's not going to know what to do! Unsafe, unhealthy, and in the long run it's not going to work well for your weight loss goals! You need to talk to an adult, a doctor, a nutritionist, SOMEBODY about a safe way to eat, exercise, and lose weight.

BTW, do you REALLY NEED to lose weight? This is extreme behavior, which leads me to think you may have some body image issues leading you down the road of anorexia and other extreme behaviors. Please talk to someone and get help!

EDIT: I looked at your past Q's and almost ALL of them are about losing weight, one was about anorexia, one was about extreme depression....please get help. If that was your pic you posted in the pretty/ugly Q you are a pretty girl, you don't look fat in the face, so I doubt you need to lose weight. Please, I implore you, get help!

Teen eating 500 calories a day?

Yes, you will see results! You'll gain because your body will go into a starvation mode & hang on to what already have & add some more to you. I suggest eating a minimum of 1200 healthy calories a day.

1 pound = 3500 calories ---- So if you would eat 1200 healthy calories a day for at least a week then drop that by 500 calories for a week you will have dropped 1 pound.

Please do this the healthy way...Good Luck

What if I only eat 300-500 calories a day a few months?

You won't make it for a few months. I have experience with this but nevermind that. The other answers are correct; they describe ketosis. But what you feel? The awful hunger is more than you might think. It's literally all-consuming, and it will keep you from sleeping until you get so tired you oversleep, like hibernate. That's what you will be craving because being awake is painful. 300-500? That's about what I had to go on. What little money I had would go to what I saw as the highest nutritive benefit per moneys: my daily diet would be something like 1 Powerbar and 1 nectarine. I decided that those senior drinks for people who are allergic to chewing, like Boost or Ensure, was better than a Powerbar, and the amount either fills you up is small enough that it doesn't matter.Later I could eat both lunch and dinner at the shelter. So we might be having 1000 calories a day, and I'm describing that, and that's twice as much as you are asking about!  And the dinner wasn't guaranteed, so all this is in that calorie range. So, I described the gnawing hunger. After a while, your brain slows down. Your neurons don't fire as much as they used to, and you think "slower." you get confused and distracted and can't concentrate on one damn thing. You'll get constant headaches. When they are low-level it's tolerable, but they can be pounding.Your stomach will rebel. You won't be able to keep anything down. If you take pills, you'll puke them up. It's nausea, but not the type everyone thinks defines nausea--it's not queasiness. Instead, your gag reflex doesn't really stop. You will take a pill then feel that gag-reflex sensation for a few hours. You'll regurgitate your coffee. The pain in your stomach will "physicalize" and make you cry, so you'll become histrionic and cry a lot. Stomach hurt? Cry. Think of something sad? Cry. Get mad? Cry. Miss your bus? Cry. Can't do your homework? Cry.So yeah, you keep up like that, and your body will start to consume itself. That's why we have fat reserves, and you don't want to start dipping into those. I can only imagine the agony of people in famine.

How long will it take eating 250-500 calories a day to lose 50 lbs?

people are probably going to report my answer for promoting this but if your doctor said you're healthy then I guess it won't be a problem, okay so I eat less than 500 calories a day (but I have ednos) um the first few weeks the weight just dropped off like I would drop 6-7 pounds a week then it sort of slowed down to 4 pounds a week so id say 3-5 months

How long do i have to exercise to burn 500 calories?

Each exercise or activity your body does burns calories differently. Also your age, and weight play a role in calorie burn as well. There is also the issue of muscle mass. Individuals who contain more muscle mass burn calories more quickly then those with less muscle. There is the ongoing debate of cardio vs strength training and which burns more calories. Cardio burns more calories during the actual activity, while strength training and weight training keep burning calories even after you finish working out. The answer of 500 calories in how long? For me, 26 yr old female, wt. 124, I could burn 500 calories by running around 5 miles. I am an avid runner and can run 5 miles in about 40 mins. If you are not it could take longer, maybe like 50 mins to an hour. So you see your question needs more detail to be answered properly.
