How Much Prime Seachem Do I Put In My 5.5 Gallon

Am I putting 2 many chemicals in my tank?

Remember one simple rule of thumb. Whatever you add to your tank, stays in your tank! The only thing that evaporates easily is water but the trace elements and chemicals are left behind. Even with a 50% water change the amount of chemical being used here is excessive.

Keep life simple for yourself and your fish, simply continue the aquasafe at 1/8 tsp for each 2 1/2 gallons of new water added to the tank and in bewteen water changes just make sure to change out your filters proporly and if it gets to be a little murky a gravel vacuum never hurts. They should be very inexpensive for a tank this size and im sure with the money savings in chemicals you can easily afford one now! The main thing we are trying to create with any tank is a replica of the fish's natural enviornment and the only reason we add chemical is to add an effect that nature automaticly does that we cant re create in our homes. Also just be careful to watch your feedings, i only say this because it sounds like with this many chemicals being added during water changes it seems you may have a problem your trying to get rid of such as murky water or alge. Fish should only be fed what they can consume within 3mins.

If you want to know the real effect of what these chemicals are doing to your water you can bring a small water sample to almost any fish retailer (Petco for sure) and they will do a water test for you though its not really needed.

How long should I wait before I put my fish in my 2.5 gallon tank?

Well you can wait for a while before for you put your betta in the tank. I wouldn't wait for several days, since they are usually cramped in those tiny bottles. But they can stay for a few days, it won't hurt them, but preferred in the tank. Betta usually don't require a big tank, just a normal small one. Just make sure not to forget to add solution into the water, making sure your fish won't get sick with just normal tap/drinking water.

Also, note that betta fish DO NOT go along with other male betta fish, since they will fight to the death. The other is of you put a male and female eventually they would have eggs, but I would advise you to remove the two pairs from the eggs when they can and will eat the eggs.

Male betta have long flashy tails when females are shorter and small.

Hope this helps!!!

I got a new 55 gallon tank placed, I placed 4 goldfish in it after about 18 hours. They are all now at the top and one has died, what went wrong?

Did you add something to the water to take the chlorine out? I bet that’s the problem, I would jump in the car and run to a pet store or Walmart and buy some Prime or Safe, by Seachem, both are very good, if you don’t the rest will die soon, like any minute, Chlorine and is poisonous to fish , you must add every time you add water. If you don’t get it they will for sure die, Sorry they didn’t tell you at the pet shop!!

How often should I change the water of my 1.5 gallon betta tank with a filter in it, and how much of the water should I change?

You could certainly follow Steven Clarke’s direction and your beta would probably be perfectly safe. However I would suggest you test your water for nitrates, nitrites and ammonia at least once a week, preferably twice, for a month.Simply because water quality depends on several different factors, the most important in a small tank with one fish to my mind is :- how much are you feeding? Waste food almost invariably leads to an increase in nitrates. One you have a good record of the results you can dial your water change, gravel vac and filter cleaning in appropriately. One other thing, I would not do the water change, the gravel vac and the filter clean at the same time, in such a small tank the beneficial bacteria that keep your tank stable are not so numerous that they can always cope with such a deep clean and you could provoke a mini cycle. I would suggest you stagger them, doing at most, two at the same time.Hope this helps.

I have a betta in a 1 gallon tank..moss ball or snail?

Thanks Angela and Obsidian for the answers, but I don't need long lists of what I should be doing with my fish. I asked a simple question, not concerning at all the size of my tank being unhealthy for my fish. I do not need to be lectured on my fish living longer in a bigger tank, I know that I just don't have room or money and I needed something I was able to take care of for therapy purposes. My fish loves swimming on the tank I have now, and seems perfectly happy.
PLEASE NO OTHER ANSWERS CONCERNING HOW MY FISH SHOULD BE IN A BIGGER TANK.

I have a 5.5 gallon tank and I'm wanting 2 mystery snails.?

I bought a 5.5 gallon Top Fin 10 tank and it's all set up with two water wisteria plants, two small objects, and natural looking gravel. I put the water conditioner and bacteria supplement in it and now it will sit overnight. When I go to the pet store tomorrow, after I test the water, I am wanting two lighter (non golden) mystery snails for sure. A 5.5 gallon tank would be a good size right? I mean, I don't really have a choice, I'm just wanting to get some feedback. Could I get a betta with them or any other fish? Should I buy the snails first, or buy the snails and fish together? If I can get fish what kind other then betta could I get, or would there be enough space to have 2 snails, a betta, and others? Does my type of filter matter or the fact that I have LED lighting that came with the tank? How many times a week should I clean my tank since I have a filter with no settings? How long should I leave my tank light on since I have 2 water wisterias? Is it ok that the plants are completely submerged? Should I lower the water level? Sorry I have a lot of questions, I just want my babies to be healthy and happy :) Responses are appreciated and much needed. If you can't tell I'm newbie at owning an aquarium... Heh.
