How Much Should I Charge For Babysitting

How much should I charge for babysitting?

between 3-5 dollars an hour. But somtimes if you don't ask for an amount, they might give you more then you expect.

How much should I charge for babysitting? And how much do YOU charge or pay?

Howdy. I'm a 15-year-old girl who is Safe-Sitter certified. I have gained quite a lot of childcare experience through working at a history museum (and leading a program for toddlers there), watching my cousins, volunteering to help Girl Scouts earn badges, etc.
I am also very flexible with scheduling, due to the fact that I'm homeschooled. I can work during the week, which is rare among teen babysitters.

So anyhow, I'm wondering how much to charge. The going rate in my area seems to be about $9.00 per hour for just one child, which I find to be too expensive, but maybe it's not. This is unfamiliar territory for me.

Teenaged sitters out there, how much do you charge?

Also, parents, what seems like a reasonable price to you? Would you hire me based on my information here?

How much should i charge for babysitting?

I was paid $5 an hour for one child that was 6 months old. I would think $15-$20 an hour is acceptable. Not only are there 5 kids but, you are watching them from 3:30 to 8:30 pm so not many places will do that. I am sure you are going to their home to watch them too that means the parents don't have to worry about dropping them off somewhere and picking them up which is another convenience for them. They just have to come home after work

How much should I charge for babysitting all day?

I'm 19 and work in a daycare which is closed Friday. I'm going to babysit for one of the families there. They have 2 children, ages 8 and 2. I would be watching them for about 8-9 hours and I'm wondering how much to charge? Before when I've watched them I would do an hourly rate, but I would just do a set rate for the day. The oldest child is very good and they both really like me, though the 2 year old is going through a phase of temper tantrums over little things (but then again she's 2...) I'm thinking about $35 for the day, which is about the cost of sending the 2 year old to the daycare each day, does that sound like a fair price?

How much should I charge my friend for babysitting?

My friend (who i have known since i was about 10, almost 22 now) has three kids 6, 5, and 2. Her mom (who is a alcoholic) was watching them but she (my friend) picked them up and she (her mom) was drunk, which isn't shocking to me (i mean if it walks like a duck..ANYWAYS) needless to say her mom isn't doing it anymore. I told her i would watch them if (when) her mom doing it fell through (and it did). I'm watching them almost everyday now (unless her bf, father of the 2 year old, is off work, he works 3 or 4 till late at night) from about 3 or 4 until about 6:30ish while she is working. We never really talked about $ before and now she keeps asking me which I'm not sure how much to charge her, i mean i don't want to kill them on it, i know he only makes around seven something dollars a hour, i'm not sure how much she is making but it's probably somewhere between 7-9 dollars a hour. I'm not working right now (trying but it's not happening). She doesn't want/have enough money to be putting them all in daycare (it would be around 300 a week for all of them, even though the 6 year old goes to school until about 2:45pm, i don't pick her up btw). It's nine miles from my house to her house. Just to note, i don't "just" watch them, i pick up after them, feed them snack, make sure they do their chores (dishes, sweeping, picking up etc).

How much should a 16 year old charge for babysitting?

I am also 16 and I babysit for neighbours, family friends, etc. The going rate between teenagers in my area is about £6 an hour - I did try to charge £7 with one family but they seemed a bit taken aback so I went back to £6! - and parents tend to round up to the nearest hour, within reason. So I would have made £30. That's bearing in mind that I live in a nice area of London, where things tend to be expensive, and the people I babysit tend to be middle/upper middle class earners. £25 certainly doesn't sound like too much. Additionally, some people will pay you extra if it goes later into the night; for example, I once got £40 for doing 9pm to 2am. It's up to the families, basically.

How much should I charge per hour for babysitting?

This next week I'm babysitting some kids and I don't know how much to charge. Tomorrow I'm babysitting a 17 month old so how much should I charge per hour?
I'm also babysitting a ten year old one night, how much to charge?
I'll also be babysitting a 5 and 7 year old... How much per hour?

Normally I just let the parent decide how much they should give me but I think I should know how much is an accurate pay?

How much to charge for babysitting a 7 year old?!?

Im 13, and i was offered a babysitting job. She wants me to babysit her 7 year old son until school starts. She says she's not sure on the definite hours but will let me know this evening, but it would probably be 6:30 am- 5pm. This is honestly way earlier than im used to waking up in the summer so it will be different, but it's good i guess so i'll get used to waking up early for School. She would need me Monday-Thursday. I'm not sure if i'll be watching him at my home or theirs. She asked if i could watch him and to let her know what i would charge.
I don't know how much to charge.
It'll be around 10 hours each day, and 4 days a week.
I don't want to be un fair, but I don't want to be cheated either as I will have to wake up earlier and it takes away most of my days of summer left.

How much money should I charge for babysitting a 16 month old for 48 hours (her parents are going out of town for a conference)?

I’ve been babysitting my seven year old cousin since sixth grade (five at the time), and I get paid $10 a day ($40 every paycheck, all weekends.) I babysit for seven hours each weekend. That’s roughly $1.50 per hour.Since your babysitting a BABY, I’d charge a higher rate per hour. Maybe $3 an hour? I’d estimate 8 hours where you’re actively babysitting the child, so that’s $48 total for your time. I don’t think it’s an unreasonable charge for the parents. Maybe it’s even UNDERcharging. Just don’t ask for a high price at first, and the parents will more than likely pay you more.

How much to charge for babysitting an autistic child?

i have a difficult decision to make and any help is very appreciated.
i have been offered a babysitting job for my mother's boss and best friend. she has a son and a daughter (6 and 5) and her son is severely autistic.
i have been babysitting my neighbour's child for five years and i never expected a lot of money from them, usually 20 for a couple of hours. so i don't really know what to charge or even a range for two children.

any suggestions?
