How Much Should I Charge My Roommates For Rent

How much would I charge a roommate rent if...?

I own a house that I would normally charge someone $1300-1400 rent to live in. If I live in it and get a roommate, how much should I charge them?

Also, I would appreciate it if we just stuck to the question... instead of trying to convince me not to get a roommate. I'm just trying to get an idea of what to charge. Thanks!

How much rent should we charge my roommate for sleeping in the living room?

My boyfriend and I have two daughters and a son. We just moved in a condo on feb. My boyfriend brought the two strange people to my home to get to know each other and we felt bad for them since they were homeless and been sleeping in the van for while. We decided to let them stay at my place for two weeks till they find a new place. Somehow my boyfriend asked them  if they want to stay and start paying rent for staying in the living room. In the past,  I have had two roommates that lived with me before and they paid more rent like 350-400 for a room. Now,  I charged the new roommate for sleeping in the
Living room for 175 every month. How much rent I should charge them for sleeping in the living room?

I didn't charge them w utilities and one of them depend on us to feed him without him paying his own food. He doesn't know how to be wise with his money for food, gas and other. Im tired and frustrated with him for depending on my boyfriend to cook and feed him even he's broke. We pay 1,300 for the rent, 100 for sdge, 106 for cox cable, 300 for food, and we also just got new tv for 233 every month since three of our TVS were stolen from the storage.  Please help me how much rent includUtilitieses and food or without food that I should charge them ? They receive 900+ from their social security benefits.

Thanks!

Is it fair that my roommate charged my mom and I $500 for rent to live with her, when her rent was $780?

You such an ungrateful tenant! You plus mom should have paid $520 ! ( two thirds)You got a bargained and you should be eternally grateful! If total rent is $780 and 3 ( three) people live there, then the rent (780) should be divided equally among all ! Each one should pay 1/3 (one third ) of the rent, or780:3= 260 ( two hundred and sixty)Each person should pay $260!You and your mother are TWO people. As such, you plus mother should have paid $260+$260=$520 per month. You were charged less than 520, so between you two, you picked the $20/ month or $240 per year! You and mom should be VERY grateful for a kind landlord.

How much to charge roommate in rent if she’s sleeping on air mattress in living room?

My rent is 500 plus electric. She has been staying with me for almost a year and finally just got a job and has been helping a little bit. But what should I charge her for rent? I’ve paid for everything for the past 7 months and I still buy the groceries and clean and pay 300 in rent.

How much do I charge my roommate for a late fee?

My roommate has been paying me later everyone month and now it's getting to the point where I have to pay his portion of the rent do avoid the landlord giving us a late fee. I mean, he'll pay me when the new month begins but it's getting really bad. So I'm going to give a set date when all rent fees are due which will be the 25th of every month or I'll charge a late fee. How much should I charge if that happens? I want to be reasonable but I want to get the message across that this is unacceptable.

His rent and utilities altogether comes up to usually $330 every month

How much do I need to charge roommate in rent if she’s sleeping on air mattress in living room?

If she's sleeping in the living room, not sure she's qualified to be labeled as roommate. How long is she staying? Is this turning into a permantant new addition to the unit? Is she on the lease? If she isn't on your lease, check your lease for what it says about Guests. I allow guests to stay for 10 days before they turn into occupants. At that point there are some mega fines that kick in for not letting management know about them.If she's staying with you permanently and living in the living room, charge her half of everything. Break down your rent, utilities, etc down as if you have a new, actual, roommate. If there, they pay like they live there.

Should I pay for part of my roommate’s rent?

Well, I would say the best answer depends a bit on the “living arrangements” - what sort of agreement is in place. If there is a lease where all of the occupants have signed with the landlord, then your lease probably has some wording about being “jointly and severally” responsible for making payment to the landlord. This basically means that the landlord does not care who pays, only that payment in full is made, and that if payment in full is not received that the landlord will pursue payment from ALL parties who agreed to be tenants; so the landlord could file to evict ALL of you - this would place an eviction on your background, and that could be something undesirable. So in this case, since you are on the hook for payment in full, then you might be better off making that payment. And you might want to re-consider who is going to share living space with you in the future. Now let’s consider the case where there is a roommate agreement only, because one person signed as a primary tenant with the landlord. This is a case where that one person who signed as tenant is obligated to pay the rent in full; but if the rent isn’t paid the landlord will proceed to evict ALL occupants (everybody must move so a new tenant can be found). The agreement that the primary tenant makes with the other occupants would determine what happens in the event of non-payment; my suggestion here is to ask the non-paying party to figure out how to pay (work more jobs if needed), or to move along. It’s no fun to be paying more than your own share so that somebody can take advantage and be a sponge. Now let’s consider the case where there is a roommate agreement only, because one person owns a house and offers rooms to others. In this case, the agreement can be enforced by the owner, usually this means an eviction filed against the non-paying party.

How much should I charge a roommate to live with me?

Wondering how much to charge my roommate. I own the house and am letting someone stay with me and my boyfriend (who she is also friends with and known for 5 years). I gave her the basement, which is a large room, and my boyfriend built her a huge walk-in closet. I pay all the bills, so I want a total that would be all bills included. She shares a shower with me but has her own 1/2 bath. I'm paying for cable and internet service.
Total Bills for the house are: $900
1 Bedroom apartments in the area go for $400(ghetto) up to $650(nice).
