What happens when you never pick up your car at the towing company?

After a certain amount of time passes, typically 30 days, the towing company will get the information as to legal and registered owners of the car. They are allowed this information since they have possession of the vehicle and need to notify owners. They will send out a registered or certified letter to all interested parties giving you a time period to claim the vehicle, and the price to claim it. If you ignore that, they can offer it at auction. Since you say it's wrecked, it will probably only get a bid from the crusher. The towing company will add the costs of preparing the vehicle for the crusher, which would include removing all fluids and disposal, removing the battery and gas tank, and towing to the crusher, then subtract the amount they got for scrap metal. You will be billed for the balance. If you still don't pay, it would depend on the rules for the state. In some they can revoke your license for non payment. At the very least you will be turned into collections.

Best thing to do always is call the tow company early and tell them you don't want the vehicle. They may allow you to give them the title and drop charges at that point. Even if they don't, it will be much cheaper early than late.

Do Junk Removal companies make good money in MA?

Junk removal companies should make money *anywhere*, because the secret is that is not their main business.Their main business is SORTING.They get paid to take junk away. And that is nice for them; they should break even on that part but they can even take a loss because...They take the junk back to their yard or warehouse. There they begin to separate the real garbage from everything else. And everything else can be sorted. There's the magic. Some things are in perfect or near-perfect shape and can be sold again at retail or near-retail prices. Some things can be separated into further component parts, and sold to recycling yards for even more than if they were sold as one item. The key questions are: how well can you sort and how long are you willing to wait to find a buyer (it may take awhile to build up to a certain amount of something to sell it bulk, for example). If the junk removal service portion pays for your labor, vehicles & overhead, what you sell after you sort is pure profit.I've run a couple of recycling yards--paper, glass, metal, plastic and auto--in my time and if you can weather the low price periods you can really make money later when the prices rise again.

How long does it take to put a transfer case in a truck?

There are hours allowed for the job--spelled out in the service tech book at the dealer. A trained mechanic is allowed just so many hours to do any job in or on a vehicle. If the book says 3 hours--and he does it in 5 hours--they can only charge you for 3 hours. It is the LAW. If you are a trained ASI mechanic with every conceivable tool, you should be able to remove and replace the transfer case without a problem. If there is more work required to the items that attach to the transfer case--those little unforeseen problems--they will add to the time. And you may need to go for parts--that takes time you may have not expected to spend. THIS IS NOT A JOB TO RUSH OR TRY TO GO CHEAP. If it is a USED transfer case--it may be worse than your current one. That is very risky to use junk yard stuff. This is NOT a driveway repair job--proper lift equipment is going to make the job easier and safer--and cleaner.

How can every tow company in my town refuse to tow an old truck full of junk that I have no way to move? Why is an abandoned vehicle, blocking my driveway, on my property my problem?

As others have noted, the problem here is that the truck is on your property, which makes it your problem. But if you think about it really hard for just a few minutes, the answer to your problem may become obvious. There was a dead squirrel on my lawn once, right after trash pick-up. Not really wanting to take the time to bury it, not wanting it to stink up my trashcan for a week, and not wanting to have to care if it died of any diseases that might affect me, I called 311. When the city dispatcher answered, I told her I had a dead squirrel. Her first question was “Is it on the street or on your property?”The answer to that was a no-brainer. I went and got a shovel and carried it out to the street and then hosed the shovel off. The squirrel was gone by the time I got home from work.Push the truck onto the street, so the city can take it out with the rest of the trash.
