How Much Time Should I Give To Quit My Summer Job

How can i quit my summer job?

I began working at a Marina for the summer this spring. it is about 1.5 hours from my house and near my family's camp. i really like the guys i work with but hate the work i do. my cousin is the plant manager at a factory in my hometown and offered me an internship in their IT department for the rest of the summer. i began working there today and loved it. i really enjoy computers and the pay and hours are better as well. as of now, i am working at the factory Tuesday and Wednesday, and at the marina monday, thursday friday. I stay at the camp thursday to monday. i really want to quit my job at the marina both because i hate the work and because i don't want to stay at the camp. there is no washer/dryer and we have very slow internet and no tv which makes for a long night. i would much rather work near home and be able to see my friends and parents after work. should i tell them that i found a new job closer to home and that i can work this weekend, or do i need to work 2 more "weeks"? my position is kind of a helper/handyman sort of thing, so i feel i am not really vital. i am fairly close to my bosses, so i think they would be understating. i just want to make sure i can get a reference from them and be on good terms as my family is over there all the time for gas, launching boats, etc. but i really don't want to work there any more. my aunt told me that i could not stay at the camp, so i told her that it would only be a few nights per week. she seems to be okay with it, but i feel like it is causing some tension between me and my aunt and uncle.

Should I quit my summer job? or Suck it up?

so i wanna quit my summer job simply because i don't wanna work anymore, but then again i want the money. i don't earn much but something is something. i have to quit the job before school starts on Sept. 8. I'm 16 and work at a fast food place and sometimes i feel as if its way to much for me to handle esp. being a first job and all and then during lunch time it gets VERY HECTIC! i'm confused, i have no idea if i should just suck it up and work for 2-3 more weeks or if i should just quit already.. either way im gonna quit about a week before i start school but idk if i should just work another 2 weeks.. i really want the money but for some reason i had a week off and i dont wanna go back! i only work 2-3 days a week and i get paid every other monday and i dont get paid much. what should i do??? give me your honest opinion, what would you do?

Should I be ashamed of quitting my summer job to work on my projects when my parents cover tuition?

Tom and I usually agree, but here… we’re not on the same page. I agree that working for someone is good, but most college students get that experience during the school year. What you are asking about is, if your parents are funding your education, should you feel guilty for taking advantage of that to develop your own intellectual interests. If you asked about your lavish lifestyle of cocaine and private jets to Fyre Festival like the Rich Kids of Instagram (The RKOI), then yeah, feel bad. However, while it’s an advantage and a privilege, having parent-paid tuition is not a bad thing and not something to be ashamed of. The fact that you are aware of and appreciate your privilege is of critical importance. You working for Arby’s or whatever for the summer doesn’t really expose to you the experience of those who have to do so, but as long as you don’t consider yourself better than them, it’s fine. If your personal projects are serious and challenging, it’s reasonable to use this time and freedom to develop them.

Should I stick out my summer job to the end or quit now?

I work for an 11-week summer camp and I have completed 6 weeks already. It's a resume-booster and I've already secured 2 references.

Last week however, I became extremely depressed. I live at the camp for 24 hours a day, far from civilization, working up to 12 days at once before any time off. Last week I became extremely homesick which escalated into severe depression. I would call home almost everyday, in tears, feeling absolutely miserable. I even stopped eating properly.

Going home for 2 days was cathartic. I realized that it was the environment, not me, that caused the depression. But now that I'm back at the camp I'm worried the same thing will happen again. After I go on vacation next week, I have 3 weeks left, where I'll be stuck at the camp the whole time, never getting a chance to go home. I'm worried I'll fall into the same phase.

However I have a really important role in the camp. If I leave so close to the end, they might not have enough time to hire somebody else and it will really burden my coworkers and my boss (who has made many compromises in the past).

I have 2 choices:
1) Go on vacation next week and try to suck up the final 3 weeks. I could leave if I do feel depressed, but it will be on short notice. I feel like I'll be thinking about quitting everday though and it will make me feel down the whole time.

2) Tell my boss now that I quit. I can give him 2 weeks notice, which will include my vacation week and the first week of August, which I know I can handle covering. He then can see how he can adjust for the final 2 weeks. This would be the best for my mental health, but it's a bit stupid to leave an 11 week camp 2 weeks before it ends.

I really need advice. It's all I've been thinking about. Thank you!

How much notice should I give for quitting my job at Abercrombie?

I've worked at Abercrombie & Fitch since June, but next week is the last week I can work because now that school is starting again, I can go back to my old job at my school (a MUCH better job)...how much notice should I give Abercrombie that I'm quitting (they hardly ever used me, they have a zillion people working there) and what would be the best, most professional way to do it? I've never quit a job before so I just want to make sure I do it right. Thanks

I got a summer job and school is starting back soon. Can I quit without a 2 weeks notice?

Thanks for A2A.It will depend on your company policy, what's their say on it? A lot of company would hold on/cut down your salary if you try to quit without the appropriate period of notice. My nasty previous company held on to my bonus (one month salary) which I should get after working a year with them (I've worked a year++ with that shit company) because I quit to join a better company. I hope they'd go bankrupt. LOL. Bunch of losers.Anyway, if you really have to quit on a notice that's shorter than stated in your company policy, I highly recommend that you have secured your salary, bonus, etc.

What is the best way to quit a job?

I've been working at ShopRite for mostly 3 months now, and I found a new job for being a counselor for a summer camp. But I'm trying to figure out how to quit my ShopRite job. I mean I should at least finish the hours left of this week. Any advice?
