How Much To Add A Power Package To A Jeep

Do glass pack mufflers add any horsepower?

Any free flowing exhaust will add power and give you better gas mileage. I'm not a fan of the way the glass packs sound though, they tend to rattle a bit at higher speeds.

What can I do to get more power out of a 4 cylinder Jeep Wrangler engine?

there are no performance upgrades for a four cylinder jeep, this is way too underpowered, and the six cylinder gets complaints all the time on here, there is a southern cailf jeep club, I read an article and to get the performance you want I suggest you look into a chevy 350 swap. Since this sounds like not what you want, you cannot make up something that is not available. you could try, but in the end the four banger is not going to perform, it is tough, dependable and s l o w that is what it is, I suppose you could rebuild it, and add a turbo (thats about the only way to get enough power to make the four banger go. But without a kit, or a specific turbo/ engine combination, you are getting into unknowns, and a turbo is not something that would work well 4x 4 . again the money, would be equal to a 350 engine itself, and the v8 has been done many times, has great bottom end torque and all the bugs are worked out of the swap, you need a 350 the computer and wiring harness and a 4L60E transmission that works with that engine and computer for a durable trouble free 4x4 engine swap. good luck.

Is too much power steering fluid bad? (2002 Jeep GC)?

I have a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Overland package. 4.7L 8 Cyl.

A while back I had it looked at under warranty (lemon law warranty, not manufacturer) for the power steering, they filled my fluid and such and told me they didn't think anything was wrong with it. But, it has still had problems.

When I turn the wheel all the way to one side it makes this awful "mechanical whine" noise. Occasionally in 1st gear it does this as well. Other times if I'm in drive but not moving (i.e parking) the wheel becomes very very hard to turn for a few seconds, then releases.

I checked the fluid today after letting it sit all night. There are 3 lines on the dipstick, add, cold and hot. Of course at this point my engine was as cold as it will get in the summer and the level of fluid read almost to the hot line, about a 1/4 inch below it.

Can too much PS fluid cause the problems I'm having? Also, I know it isn't a leak as there aren't any signs of dripping fluid, and the fluid level has maintained for close to 2 months.

Any thoughts or advice? Very much appreciated.

Power steering in a Jeep Wrangler?

As to the pricing on the Jeep you are looking at go to kbb.com or nada.com, plug in the info you have and either site will give you a price for your locale. I would advise against trying to add power steering to a 1990 Wrangler it's just not worth the expense.

What happens if I overfill my power steering fluid?

Most modern power steering system has a pressure relief built into it. Most are in the cap. The fluid will expand with heat and the pressure relief will let it over flow out of the system. Then you have a mess. That’s it. No harm done. To the system at least, but not good for the environment.

How much horse power do u get adding headers on a chevy 350?

You can move power bands all over the place/shape power curves with headers just as you can with camshafts. Header primary pipe length goes hand in hand with valve timing.

Until you change the cam, you will not change the air flow appetite/demands of the engine.

It is impossible to tell you what the right header is for you and what to expect when we know nothing about your 350 accept that it is a 350. Telling us your component combination is THE key, if you want quality header advice.(at least from me, anyway.)

How much would it cost to install power door locks with a remote on a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited?

In my opinion it would cost a ludacris amount of money and is not worth doing. EVEN if the Jeep is wired up by the doors where the harness would plug in to a door where it has power locks/windows, you would need that module to control that and the switches installed in the dash. Should of bought one that had it...

What happens when power steering fluid is put in a gas tank?

It will lubricate the intank electric fuel pump (if so equipped), clean and lubricate the fuel injectors, clean the intake valves of carbon, and probably make the engine run smoother and get better milage than it was getting. It will however smoke a bit, depending how much you poured in.Mechanics used to pour up to a quart of transmission fluid in a full fuel tank as regular maint. to clean & lubricate the fuel system, and top end of the engine. You can pour it in your oil and run the engine for about 20-30min. before an oil change to clean the bottom end as well.Power Steering fluid is a high detergent light oil. Same as Automatic transmission fluid.
