How Much To Give For Neice

How much money should I give a niece as a wedding gift who is having a destination wedding that will cost a lot to attend to?

Thanks for speaking up about the expense of destination weddings. I’m on a fixed income and seem to be surrounded by affluent young friends and relatives with whom destination weddings are all the rage. I know that their destination weddings are a real financial burden on some of their friends and relatives, and yet nobody speaks up and everyone seems to pay up as if these extravagant choices are just one more expected cost of friendship. Perhaps some negative comments on Quora will give some pause for thought. But to answer your question, I recommend that you take the amount you would ordinarily spend on a really nice gift for a kid you really love, then add to it the cost of lodging and travel you will spend to go to the wedding. Now deduct from that sum the amount you ordinarily spend on a weekend getaway. The result is the amount you could be expected to spend on the wedding by any reasonable standard. If this amount is greater than you would normally spend on a gift, send a small token gift. If the total is less than your usual gift, spend the remainder on a modest present. If this makes you feel guilty, remind yourself that some forms of guilt are entirely irrational.

How much money should an aunt/uncle give for graduation?

Go with what you feel and what you can afford. $20 is fine if that's what you want to give.

How much $$ to give to 18 year old on her birthday?

For a friend, well if it's a best friend, maybe £50, erm about $75 I think, though I dunno for an 18th I tend to get a joke present, cause im cheap ;)

My nephew wants a cash gift for graduation. How much should I give? Is there a standard?

I think it depends on how close you feel towards him. If it were my nephew, I think $100 is sufficient. More if you were closer.

How much money is appropriate to give for a confirmation gift? This child is very dear to me.?

Instead of giving money which will be spent on something quite forgettable, why not give a nice Bible with an inscription by you? This would be something the child would always treasure. Another nice gift would be a gold cross or a rosary if you're Catholic.

If money is the expected gift at your church, ask a fellow church member, who would be a better source of information than anyone here would be, as they know your personal situation.

Am I obligated to give a wedding present to my niece if I haven't been invited to her wedding?

No, you are not obligated to buy your niece a wedding present when you are not invited to the wedding; however, it would be a classy gesture to send the newlyweds a card saying ‘I heard that you got married…’ You could include a small gift — a candy bowl or salad tongs or some such thing — if you are so inclined. When my husband and I got married, we could afford only a small wedding. I invited my grandparents on both sides but only my uncles and aunts on one side because inviting the ones from the other would have been too numerous. We had to make hard choices and decided that certain friends held priority on the guest list because they were there for us during my husband's lengthy interstate custody battle with his ex-wife. We never expected to receive anything from those who were not invited. Perhaps your niece had some such dilemma, too. Only you know if there could be any other reason why you were excluded.

What's an appropriate amount of money to give as a Christmas present to your nephews and to your own children?

Depends where you live, how old the children are, what each family expects money to be used for, etc.If an older child needs money for university or classes, then it’s nice if you can give a significant amount towards making education and learning easierSmall children probably shouldn’t get money. If they do, it should be enough to buy a small toy or treatMedium aged children should get enough to buy the sort of small toy/game or treat they would enjoy. Maybe a game cartridge, nail polish, make up, small sports equipment, etc.I’m sure Trump’s grandchildren aren’t getting a dollar for Christmas. In some countries, a dollar or two would be a windfall.
