How Much Water Should I Be Getting Per Day

How much water do you drink a day?

Avg day for me is a gallon of water, not counting any coffee, tea or soda I might also drink during the day.

In an extra hot day, I may drink more than a gallon of water, but rarely more than a gallon and a half.

Do I drink too much water per day?

I drink a LOT of water almost every day; I've read other questions on here about people worrying whether they're drinking too much water b/c they're drinking 4-5 liters a day, but I routinely drink twice that. Honestly, I probably have over 200 oz. of water (including non-caffeinated tea) nearly every day, oftentimes I'll drink around two gallons of water a day, more so if I exercise or it's really hot. I have been drinking a lot of water for the past few years, and I was tested for diabetes last year, so I don't think that's an issue (fingers crossed). That being said, is it harmful to drink that much water? I find it hard to stop myself as I work in an office and the water cooler is so accessible and I get super thirsty.

How much water should I drink a day?

i've heard that if you're thirsty, you're already dehydrated, and that you should be drinking regularly throughout the day. it was my understanding that most experts agree that 64 ounces of water a day (that's 8 cups) is what you should drink. i was reading up on it recently, and they say that when you first begin drinking this amount of water, you do have to make those frequent trips to the bathroom, but it's only temporary if you stick with it. this is because your body stores a TON of water-- it's a survival technique, since we don't drink all the water we should per day, our bodies retain a lot of it so it will have it when it needs it. But, after some time drinking 6-8 cups of water per day, your body will become accustomed to getting enough water on a regular basis and will get rid of a lot of the stored water. This will in turn reduce bathroom trips because you'll be using all the water you're drinking... I should also add that this process can potentially allow you to drop some pounds- you'd be surprised how much of your body weight is water weight!
Hope that helps, girl.

*edit* drinking all that water really isn't so bad, so long as you pace yourself throughout the day.

How much water should a 300lbs women drink per a day.....?

These people are NUTS. There is no amount that you "should" be drinking. The "8 glasses a day" and "half your weight" theories have NO basis in science. It's all just myth and folklore. Drink when you're thirsty. No benefit to over-drinking.

How much water should one person drink per day?

2-15 LITERS in a day.

How much water should a 12-year-old drink per day?

Your body loses water through breathing, perspiration, urination, and bowel movements. For the body to work well, you have to replenish the lost fluids by drinking beverages and eating foods containing water. Water needs vary from person to person. Needs are governed by where a person lives, how big they are, what they are doing , and how much they exercise. Here is the myth "Drink eight 8 glasses of water daily." That's about 1.9 liters, which isn't that far from the Institute of Medicine guidelines. The fact is very few people follow age charts or guidelines, because determining water intake simply based on age is absurd. The journal of “Public Health Nutrition” 2012 published a study that was funded by Nestle Waters suggesting that 2/3 of the children in Los Angeles and New York were not getting enough water. Other claims are, most people walk about in a constant state of partial dehydration. The good news is, your body provides signs whether you are drinking enough water. If everything is normal and healthy, the color of an individual’s urine should be a pale yellow to gold. Here's what your pee might be telling you:Straw-Colored To Transparent-Yellow Pee: This is the normal urine color of a healthy, well-hydrated body. This is what it should look like.Transparent Or Clear Pee: You should always be properly hydrated, but you can actually drink too much water, which will make your urine virtually colorless. Overhydration for long periods of time can lead to serious complications.Dark Yellow Pee: Still "normal"—but verging on signs of dehydration. You should probably start sipping water more regularly.Honey-Colored Pee: Time to up the water intake. This isn't going to cut it.Maple-Syrup-Colored Pee: Uh-oh! This could suggest severe dehydration or liver disease.Listen to your own body, and most importantly if you are thirsty its time to drink. Plain water is the best source for fluids.

What amount of water do you drink per day?

Hello Samantha,I wish I knew how to merge questioners. I just wrote this for Vincent. I'll copy/paste it to your well-timed question. How many glasses of water in a day is too many.Hi Vincent,There are an absurd number of answers to your valid and important question. I've learned of and adopted letting my urine tell me what's enough. If it's orange or even dark orange, with a “heavy” smell, I need more water. When you get really dehydrated, you’ll get a positive “pinch test”. Pinch some loose skin…between thumb and 1st finger usually is good. When you release it, the skin tent will largely disappear in ~5 seconds. If you are dehydrated, however, it'll remain for a longer time.. minutes. The goal is to produce a light straw-colored urine having little smell. For me, at the present air humidity, my age & physical condition & level of activity, that happens at approximately 1.5 liters a day. I aim to stop drinking by ~7pm so that I'll get up no more than one time at night to pee. I'm 71.When a young athlete, or was in India during monsoon season, I drank easily twice that amount, perhaps even more. Find your own requirements and know when to change THEM - Life objects is possible to overdo water consumption, causing low levels of sodium & potassium. This is not a desirable condition, as these electrolytes keep the heart beating property… but you'd have to really work at drinking, a lot! When I over-do it, I get bloated, be peeing constantly and feel crappy at such intake levels. It takes some self-education but is a worthwhile undertaking.I've been told that when we become thirsty, we already are mildly dehydrated. So there's the low-end symptom…drink enough so you're never thirsty and level off when urine is straw-colored.Try that for several weeks, then get a blood test. Ask the doctor or lab tech if you are over or under-hydrating. After 2 or 3 tests in a year, you should know, for your own condition, how much water you need. Be prepared for odd reactions to your “experiment”. Many medical pro’s that I've met wave off the situation as unimportant…”just drink your water. It's no big deal”. All that's missing is the pat on the head. Don't let that put you off. It is your body and you'll be creating your own manual for it, the one that many doctors believe they own.Regulate your water and you'll be regulating your very health.I hope this is of some help.Best regards,Stan4 Views · Answer requested by

How much water should a 12lb cat drink in a day?

Our two Ocicat girls weigh 10.5 and 8 pounds, and are fed almost entirely high quality canned food. We rarely see them drink from their bowls, they get enough water from their food. Here is something I wrote awhile back in answer to a question about what to feed your kitty:When feeding a cat, wet food, either canned or fresh, is WAY better for them than dry food, and the supermarket dry foods like Meow Mix are pure kitty junk food. They are grain based, usually corn, and cats are obligate carnivores, meaning they MUST eat meat to be healthy. In addition, cats in nature get most of their water from their prey, and have a low thirst drive. Most cats fed mainly dry food will be partially dehydrated, not good for them, leads to things like kidney problems. We feed our girls mainly grain free canned food (read the labels!), with a little late night snack of grain free dry food. The brand we are currently feeding is Soulistic from Petco, it is the only really good food our picky older cat will touch. They each get a 5.5 ounce can of food divided into three meals a day. The late night dry food snack is NOT a full meal, and we do NOT free feed them. They are both Ocicats, a fairly large and very active breed, and are very happy, healthy, and at good weights.Update: As we have found cat food on sale, we have tried some and found a few more brands picky Saphira will eat (generally chicken flavors, we do not feed anything with fish, and pates do not work for us):Wellness, Whole Earth Farms, Blue Buffalo Healthy Gourmet, and some varieties of Merrick'sThe Petco Soulistic flavor we feed most is Good Karma Chicken, it is made by Weruva and is the ONLY cat food I have found in my 60 years with cats that looks and smells like something I would eat, it looks just like shredded chicken, which is just what it is.Here are a few of my hints on picking a good wet food:Grain free.
