How Much Weight Will You Lose Walking

How much weight could you lose from walking 4.20 miles in one day??

Energy used per mile is proportional to weight, and pretty much independent of pace. It varies some from person to person, but a ballpark figure would be 100 calories/mile for a 160 pound person. So that same person would use 4.2 x 100 = 420 calories in 4.2 miles. If you weight 100 pounds, then you used only 420 x 100 / 160 = 262.5 calories.

So what is this in pounds? Human fat is about 3500 calories per pound. So if you weigh 100 pounds, you'd have lost 262.5/3500 = 0.075 pounds = 1.2 ounces.

If you got weighed and thought you lost more, it's just that you sweated out water, but as soon as you rehydrate, that'll be back. You only lost a little more than an ounce of fat.

Yeah, believe me, I know! Discouraging!

How much weight will I lose if I walk 10 km daily?

If weight loss is your goal and you have been sedentary for many years, starting a walking program is one of the better ways to get moving. Moreover, apart from physical activity, favorable changes to one's nutrition play an important role in how much weight you lose. Making an effort to move 30 minutes on most days will help accentuate the weight loss. Note that the 30 minutes does not necessarily have to be done in one full session; it can be divided throughout the day.Considerations For Walking And Calories BurnedOn average, walking 10 miles may take roughly 150 minutes when going along at a natural or brisk pace. Trail and uphill walking will also take longer to complete a mile, but ultimately will burn more calories. How tall you are needs to be taken in consideration, since stride length is reduced in shorter people, making it harder to walk at higher speeds. Moreover, your weight will also determine how many total calories will be burned.Calories Burned During A 10 Mile WalkWhen looking at how much weight is being lost when walking 10 miles, the actual weight of the person is crucial to determine the amount of calories burned as well as the pace. For an average man of 5 feet 8 inches weighing 165 pounds, the approximate number of calories burned during a brisk walk at 4 miles per hour would be 800 to 900 calories if the course was relatively flat, taking him two and a half hours to complete.Amount Of Walking Necessary To Lose WeightIf you have time to walk 10 miles daily, this amount is probably more than enough for anyone to lose weight, especially if nutritious dietary changes also are made. Although drastic for someone who is just starting, progressively getting to 10 miles daily can be a great goal to achieve.Although Walk BC considers 12,000 to 15,000 steps per day the general guideline for losing weight, going beyond this is definitely going to bring on changes on the weight scale.

How much weight can I lose from walking 2 miles 5 days a week for a month?

Walking 2 miles a week may help you lose some weight in the beginning.Calories burnt by walking - 5 x 30 x 5 = 750 calories. This will help lose 400 grams in a month. However the following walking for weight lose could be better optionWalking to Lose WeightWalking burns 5 calories per minute. There are 1440 minutes in 24 hours.Average calorie consumption is 2500 for a person looking to lose weight.Calories are produced during cellular metabolic process. By exercising or increasing the burning of calories we cannot increase the production of calories during cellular metabolic process substantially. We can at best expect small changes.Calories are used by vital organs and vital processes of the body AND for physical exercises and movements. So if we start spending too much calories all of sudden on exercises there will be shortfall of calories in the body. This will be made good by restricting the calories required by vital organs. So if you keep running for hours we may die in few seconds. But there are defence mechanisms in the body which ensure that we do not run that long which can kill us.Walking for 5 minutes every hour (Around 10 times in a day) will burn 5x5x10 = 250 calories in a day.Resting Metabolic Rate was 2500/1440 x 50 = 87 calories.Net Calorie loss is 250 - 87 = 163.This is less than 7% of average calories that are consumed by a person looking to lose weight. This extra burden can be shared by increase in cellular metabolic rate within few days. How do a person feels by walking for such a short period of time.More alert, full of energy etc. This is indicative of increase in Resting Metabolic Rate. That would mean there will be extra calorie burning without an exercise, if that extra burden can be shared by cellular metabolism. So if a person keeps walking he is quite likely to increase his Resting Metabolic Rate. But if a person walks for 1 or 2 hours at a time, the extra calorie burning will be 60 x 5 or 10 = 300 or 600 calories. That will be difficult to shift this extra burden on cellular metabolism. So the body will save some calories meant for vital organs. That will cause deterioration of vital organs.Walking 2 to 5 minutes every hours means sure weight loss. The chances of regaining this lost weight will also be minimum because there is increasing in Resting Metabolic Rate. So even if you stop walking you will not gain any weight.

How much weight do I lose if I walk 8 miles a day?

First of all, EXCELLENT CHOICE to start incorporating some exercise to reach your health/fitness/weight goals.

You'll burn about .52 x 235 (your weight) x 4 (number of miles) for each session of walking. SO right now, in each walking session, you're burning nearly 500 calories. If you walk every day, you'll lose one pound / week (you need to burn about 3500 calories to lose one pound). If you're walking 8 miles per day, you'll lose about 2 pounds / week.

When you feel more fit, start incorporating some short jogging intervals into your routine, and you will burn even faster.

Best of luck!

p.s. If you cut your current average calorie intake by just 500 calories, you'll burn an additional pound every week on top of the walking pound :)

If I walk 20,000 steps daily how much weight will I lose in 2 to 3 months and what are the benefits of walking daily?

Weight loss through walking is noticeable for few days. In the long run, it will plateau out. After losing few kilograms of weight by walking, it will not reduce any more. You need to do what is called progressive overloading i.e. increase the walking miles month after month, or adapt to a weight loss diet such as reducing refined carbohydrates. My weight reached an equilibrium few months ago. Four months of no exercise did not change my weight. A month ago, I started walking 11000 steps a day for 3-5 days a week. There is no change in my weight. In between, I stopped walking for one week but weight gained 3 Kg in a week, which is the highest weight increase in several months.Going by theory of calorie burning, my pedometer says of the 11000 steps I am averaging in a day, I have spent about 350 calories. Of the 11000, it says about 80% aerobic (meaning brisk walk, burning fat). On the fat burning, the pedometer shows I have burnt only 21g of fat while in reality 350 calories is about 40g of fat. I think the pedometer is correct that not all calories spent are not used to burn fat.So in your case, assuming you are 64 Kg weight as I do and your walking pace is same as mine (9-10 minutes per KM), you can expect to spend 636 calories a day or a maximum of 70g of fat a day, which roughly translates to 2Kg of weight loss in a month / 4 Kg in 2 months / 6 Kg in 3 months. But weight loss does not occur linearly. After a month, weight loss will plateau out and you may end up losing only 3 Kg in 3 months instead of the expected 6 Kg. If fat loss was only as simple as a calculation, ...

How much weight can you lose in 28 days by walking 30 minutes daily?

HEY!First things first, losing weight depends on two main factors :1.How many calories you burn (Physical Activity) :The thumb rule is for every 1 minute you walk you burn approx 6-7 calories. So if you just walk for 30 mins you will be burning close to 200 calories per day.For 28 days, you would be burning 5600 calories. Now for every 7000 extra calories you burn you lose 1kg.So you would be losing less than a kg weight just by this exercise. So I would advise you to check option two.2.How many calories you eat (Diet :Calorie intake):This involves intaking less calories in the first place. You can go on a calorie deficit 1000-1500 diet. Assuming your BMR = 1900 calories, if you follow this you will be burning more than 900 calories extra per day and in 28 days you will be burning close to 25000 calories, which will result in weight loss of 3.6kg!!The choice is all yours :)I hope that helps.

How much weight will I lose by walking 5 miles everyday?

It depends on your over-all caloric intake and the types of foods you are eating.
I would also reccomend having healthy snacks between these meals- even if it's just an apple or a muesli bar- it will keep your metabolism up and also your blood glucose levels, which will stop you from getting lethargic and cranky.
Walking 5 miles will also help you to build muscle tone, as well as cardiovascular fitness... given the new muscle mass on your body, you may APPEAR to gain weight on the scales, but if you were to measure your thighs, etc- you would have actually toned-up.
Now that you've started walking regularly, your metabolism will go up and you will become hungrier more often- don't ignore this, just have small, healthy snacks when these urges come along. A handful of nuts, a light yoghurt, etc.
Studies have shown that people who eat 6 small meals a day are leaner than most.
Good on you for getting exercise for your overall health :) Exercising is great for depression and the vitamin d is full of happy endorphin releasing rays.
