How Much Would Alienware Give Me For My Desktop

Should i get an alienware laptop or desktop?

I would convince you to to NOT get an Alienware computer as you will be paying a huge amount for the brand. I have an Alienware desktop myself, it was top of the range and it costed me $6K. But after 2 years, I can't even play new games on high (not even highest) settings and its basically a trash computer now. Even a $600 computer has way better specs. Computers hardware moves very fast, and they depreciate alot.

But if you are dead set on getting an Alienware, naturally I would recommend a desktop. Obviously an Alienware computer is used for gaming and gaming should never be on a laptop. Well... unless you like travelling to your friends house for lan parties. But other than that, desktop offers so much better specs for the same price. It has better cooling, more ports for your hardwares. You can have a monitor to your liking (you can upgrade the monitor, buy bigger ones etc), have your own audio system. The keyboard on laptop is never as good as a logitech or razor gaming keyboard.

Basically, other than desktop being way cheaper, you have much more versatility and flexibility compared to a laptop.

In a laptop you have too much compromise just for the mobility. But is mobility that important? You probably wouldn't even bring it out more than once a fortnight. We all have internet now and we can just play over the net!

Are Alienware desktops worth the price you have to pay for one?

Unlike most of the answers here maybe the best approach is to check the details of the Alienware on their website configurator before jumping to conclusions.I’ve made a quick list of components found on newegg, since I assume you are from USA. If not then prices varies a lot from country to country and continent and continent.I made the list based on their following model:Alienware Aurora $1,699.99 with discount to $1,549.99It has same components like in my list, but I don’t know how good they are, so for reference I’ve picked up parts that do not excel, but are better than average in my opinion.List:CPU i7-8700 $359.99CPU cooler: Corsair Hydro Series H100i V2 Extreme $110MB GIGABYTE Z370 AORUS Ultra Gaming $138MEM 16gb gskill $190.99GPU GIGABYTE gtx 1070 $439.99SSD adata m2 128gb $79.99HDD seagate 2TB $59.99PSU CORSAIR CX Series CX650 650W $50CASE MasterCase H500P ATX $150OS windoze $109.99Total = $1688I don’t have the time to check if it really has a water cooler or not, because their website is kinda vague (in pictures I can see it). Even if replacing that with a custom cooler to keep CPU cool the difference is not more than $50.As you can see the prices are similar Alienware (without discount) is 1699.99 while the build I’ve made is $1688 (Please note that some components can be at discounted prices in this moment). With discount the Alienware is a clean winner at only $1550 and comes with their support for troubleshooting. So in conclusion if you can get a good discount the Alienware can prove to be a good buy compared to making your own build, which sometimes is troublesome (some components have issues with others) and also note that matching the case is harder than you think, their case looking quite good and quite slim compared to what I’ve found.

Should I buy an Alienware laptop?

I was very apprehensive at first, having read so many negative comments online regards to Alienware and Dell as a whole. Most of the comments focused on the lack of ‘value for money’ within the Alienware product line-up.To give you a rough idea my Alienware 15 R3 was £1,900.i7 7700HQ processor16gb DDR4 RAMGTX 1070 (8GB DDR5)256GB SSD and a 1TB HDDYou could easily build an equivalent desktop for FAR less. However, when it comes to laptops it is fairly hard to build one yourself due to the size restrictions. Another benefit as mentioned in other answers is that these laptops are fully designed to take the stress a gaming rig will go through, with extremely well designed heat vents and so forth which will be hard to find in cheaper gaming brands or self built laptops. They weigh an absolute tonne (3.8KGS) and have an appalling battery life (roughly 3–4 hours) but perform incredibly! My laptop goes from completely off to on my desktop screen in under 30 seconds and I’m yet to notice any slow down or performance issues, even when playing GPU demanding games such as Assassins Creed, Ghost Recons and PUBG.Another big issue I had was the negative feedback I read online in regards to their customer service, with a general consensus of how awful it was. It’s been nearly a year and I have had no issues with my laptop whatsoever and fortunately have not needed to contact customer services.

How long does a Alienware desktop last?

my friend is giving me his desktop he hasn't any really problems except the partition needs to be refigured and it's a 2009 model do you think it's worth taking?

Should I buy an Alienware laptop or a gaming PC?

I would say, go with the Alienware laptop. You have mentioned that you need a laptop for certain courses. So I assume that you're a college student, which means that portability is a key factor to consider.Though one can go on and on and on aabout how you can build a similarly specced PC for a lower price, Alienware laptops are not as overpriced as they used to be.People say that for $2500 that you pay for an Alienware 17, you can build a much better PC. Yes, you can. But what tend to forget is that you'd have buy a keyboard, mouse, speakers and a monitor to go with it.Let's say you can build a PC with an i7 7700k, 16GB RAM, 180GB SSD (SATA3 SSDs are much cheaper than NVME SSDs, though you wouldn't notice a big difference in gaming performance), and a GTX 1080 with all the other required components like a decent motherboard that supports overclocking, a 80+ Gold power supply, a CPU cooler, etc for around $2000. You have get a good monitor to utilise the 1080 that you bought. So, a 4k monitor or a 1080p monitor with 144Hz refresh rate starts at around $600. Add in another $150 for some basic mouse, keyboard and speakers.Wait! Don't you need a desk to place all these stuff? And a comfortable chair to go with it to complete your setup? So, after spending all your money on the 'other stuff’ that you may need after building your PC for a lower price than the laptop, still sacrificing portability, do you think the extra effort is worth it?If you're looking for a relatively small but well built laptop, I'd suggest you to go with an Alienware 13 with a 1060 in it. It generally retails for about $1500 with a 1080p screen. If you want the extra screen real estate or a 1070 GPU, go for the Alienware 15.If you wanna get the Alienware 17, I'd suggest you to 'Go big or go home’, as it doesn't really offer any additional value over the Alienware 15, except for the sweet GTX1080, buttery 120Hz QHD display or the gorgeous 4k panel. And it has a subwoofer too.Watch out for sales on Dell.com.I got my Alienware 17 R4 configured with an i7 7820hk, 16GB RAM, 180GB SSD, 1TB HDD, Killer1435 Wireless card, a 4k display and a GTX 1080 for $2399 (before taxes).

Is Alienware good for gaming?

Like many other people have already stated, Yes, Alienware is good for gaming. However, they are over priced and you are paying for the name. The hardware they provide is not worth the price you are paying. As you can easily find another Gaming Laptop that has the same if not better specs for a lower price! If you are looking at desktops then I recommend you build a custom one as you are going to get everything you want without paying the premium price of buying a PC thats already built.Although, Alienware usually comes with a hefty price tag their 13in gaming laptop is decent. Considering there are only a handful of 13-14in gaming laptops out there. The 13in Alien comes with i5 6200U processor, gtx 960m, 4gb of ram.. a little low but you can upgrade and 500gb hard drive. All that for a price of $899. Keeping in mind Razer, Aorus and MSI laptops under 14 inches, the Alien 13 is a decent laptop to do some gaming and get your feet wet without spending to much money. Even though, the other brands provide higher specs the price usually climbs to around 2k plus dollars for a laptop under 14 inches. In the end its up to you to decide. If you are on a budget take a look at Gaming Laptops Under 1000 for a variety of different gaming laptops. Alienware 13 r2Good Luck!

Can Alienware be used for more than gaming?

Any computer (Desktop, Laptop) that is running a windows operating system (eg windows 7, 10) can do EVERYTHING you might possibly want from gaming and editing to browsing the web and listening to music. Regardless of brand. The “gaming” term is just used to target the product at customers it is just marketing. Normally nothing changes but how your computer looks from the outside. The hardware on “gaming” systems is definately more powerful than regular systems so that it can handle, well, games. I recommend NOT to get an alienware system IF you are looking to get value for money. If you do not care how much money you spend go for it, if you want to save up money though, for the same price you can order parts and put together a system that is BETTER than the alienware system, you are looking to buy (again , same price) But since you aren’t an expert I recommend doing this only if a relative of yours is capable of building a system. Actually, it is very easy and a kid can achieve it after some research.

Can someone tell me about Alienware?

Well it appears that the overall consensus on this question is that Alienware is good but overpriced. I personally don't agree with all of it. Alienware laptops are costly but are very comparable and some are cheaper when looking at gaming laptops only. Laptops can't be custom built and you really want warranty for them since they do cause problems so brand name is better. However, if you are in the market for a desktop you can either build one yourself since it is quite a bit cheaper for the same or better performance of an Alienware Desktop. With that being said if you don't care about pricing, lack the patience of building your own, etc. Alienware, Origin PC, and Maingear are very known gaming companies.

Is the Alienware Alpha worth it?

I would say it depends on what you will be doing with it.Let’s sayYou want a machine to use in your living room on your TV.You want to play some games on it and do not care if you can not go above medium settings on new games or not.You want to use the computer as a HTPC (home theater personal computer). You are not an enthusiastYou have no interest in building your own PC or installing your own operating system. You have looked on Electronics, Cars, Fashion, Collectibles, Coupons and More and found one that is about a year old and you are getting a great deal on it $250.00 give or take 50.00.Given any combination of these circumstances then the Alienware Alpha might be worth it to you.Do not get the Alpha ifYou must play games in ultra settings all the time and 4K is something you would really like to try somedayYou want to upgrade your system over time with the newest cutting edge parts. You enjoy doing things like building computers. You plan on spending $800.00 give or take on a new Alpha on the Alienware websiteBottom lineI have had 2 Alienware systems 1 was a desktop and the other was a 11″ laptop. Both PC’s were great 1 of them still works years later the desktop was just parted out this year. They were both more expensive than what it would have cost to build one or pick up an off brand. They worked well and the one time I needed service on the desktop they catered to me the way I thought I should be catered to based on what I paid for the system. There are other alternatives that cost less or can be custom designed to further meet your needs especially if you can build a PC yourself.
