How Much Would It Cost America To Buy Canada From Its Owner The Queen English Law Says She Still

If Canada is its own country...?

Contrary to what RST indicated, Canada is NOT part of the British monarchy.

In 1867, the country of Canada was formed, taking us from being the colony of "British North America" to an independent country.

However, to honour our heritage and the monarchy, we "adopted" the Queen as belonging to Canada as well as to Great Britain. So currently Queen Elizabeth is considered the "Queen of England", but she also has the title of "Queen of Canada". Similarly, she is also the Queen of Australia and a few other FORMER members of the British Commonwealth.

Even though Canada has pretty much operated independently since 1867, our political leaders still often had to obtain final approval on constitutional law from the British Parliament. However, that changed in 1982 when the Canada Act was passed, making it officially legal that we can make amendments to our constitution without having to seek final approval from Britain. The same thing happened in Australia in 1986.

So technically, yes the Queen of England is pictured on Canada's money and stamps. But you can also say no, it is the Queen of Canada on our money, not the Queen of England. It just so happens they are one and the same.

Perhaps someday, the monarchy will no longer be considered as the head of state for our countries. Then the Queen will be replaced with some other symbol of Canada. But for now, she remains a wonderful lady and an icon for respect and honour.

EDIT: I mentioned Canada and others were former British Commonwealth countries. In fact they still are part of the Commonwealth. I meant to say former British colonies who are now independent countries. Thanks all for the correction. It forced me to doublecheck on Wiki ;-)

Does the Queen of England really own all the land in England?

Technically, there has been no Queen (or King) of England since 1707. There is, however, a Queen of the United Kingdon etc., and of Canada, Australia, and a bunch of other places.

Legally, the Crown owns all land. A deed gives an "owner" reasonably exclusive rights, mostly to access and so on. This "right" can be bought and sold. However, if the Crown wants that land back, it can get it. But, there are laws in place that restrict this - the owner must be fairly compensated, and so on.

As the Queen is Queen of Canada, and Australia, these two alone make the Crown the biggest landowner on Earth. However, the Queen as a person (not just the Crown) owns private land in her own right as well. She really does not own all land in the conventional sense (i.e. personally), but the Crown, legally, and with restrictions, does.

Is canada an independent nation or is it still under British control?

I am reading a history book and it says that it was previously under British control and the British, in 1982, tried to rewrite a contract/constitution with them but Canadians refused to sign it, thus demonstrating their desire for independence. To this day, they have not signed. Are they still under British control because prior to British presentation of the new document in 1982, it was under British conrtol. If it has gained independence, how and when?

WHY is there still a Queen of England?

Excuse me? Who the hell are you to criticise our way of life?

The Queen/Monarch is an important part of our culture and our history. Because you are American, you do not know what it's like to be part of a NATION. What makes the English people a nation, you know - our common circumstance of birth, is that we share a common historic experience. That experience includes our Queen and us having a Monarch; we have adapted to modern times by eliminating her political power.

The Queen is a figure head of OUR country, she has nothing to do with you, so why do you even care? She was born into a position that means barely anything! Is it anyone's life long dream to be Head of State? Did Obama want to be President to be Head of State or Head of Government?

And just because you have a mixed race President who has had no black culture in his life, does not make you better than us. If you are so much better than us (in your dreams) why have you never had a woman President? Plus, black people have only been in Britain for like 60 years. Blacks have been in America for over 300 years and it took THAT long for a President that is HALF black to get elected - sickening, truly sickening!

America has no right to criticise ANY other NATION because for starters, you lack a common culture. Secondly, you KILL YOUR OWN PEOPLE FOR AN EXCUSE TO GO TO WAR! (9/11 inside job). Thirdly, you RIG YOUR OWN "DEMOCRATIC" ELECTIONS (Florida 2000) and you have become a run-down little Mexican spot!

We don't want to abolish the Monarchy, because we don't want to be one of those countries who worship a flag! And you abolished the King of Great Britain because you were being spunked on by the British, not because of any other reason!

Your Presidents are treated with respect? Hmm, i remember Bush being pelted with eggs and his inauguration being cut short! And do NOT start chatting rubbish about your Presidents being there because they "worked for it". Bush was an average student and was President because he spent like $40m on last-minute advertisements and millions more brain washing people for them to vote for him, same with Obama. In America, money gets you REAL power. In Britain, birth gets you no power, but you can become a figurehead where millions of envious yanks wish death upon you because they are jealous little losers who are simply sad, lonely, pathetic excuses for human beings!

Why is Queen Elizabeth on Canadian money?

Canada is part of the British Commonwealth (formerly known as the British Empire) which is reigned over by Queen Elizabeth.

And if you are only in the 6th grade, you have no right to be on this site.

Unless, of course, you were put back a couple of times.

When you signed up for your profile, you agreed that you were over 13.

Last time I checked, 11 or 12 was the norm for a 6th grader.
