How Much Would It Cost To Tour America For 3months

How much would my 3 month trip to America cost?

Im flying to New york from london on the 28th of May 08. I plan to spend 3 months travelling around the beloved North America. My destinations are New York, Miami, texas, california, San fransisco, LA, Vegas, washington and possibly a few more states.
It will include road trips, theme parks, excursions and possibly more activities. We plan to do hostels, hotels & rent cheap apartments for the longer stays in some states. We will be travelling by greyhound, plane & car hire. I will be travelling with 2 other people so the cost will be split in some areas like accommodation & car hire. I have saved £5,000 (pounds) $10,000 (dollars) excluding my flight from london to New york which has already been payed for and not part of my £5,000 budget. That said my question is will this amount be enough for the whole duration???
Thanks.

How much do we have to pay to get a tourist visa for 3 months in the USA?

Visa applicants, including children, are required to pay a  non-refundable, non-transferable visa application fee, sometimes  referred to as the MRV fee, before applying for a nonimmigrant visa. The  visa application fee must be paid whether a visa is issued or not. The  type of visa for which you apply determines the fee amount. This webpage  lists visa application fees associated with each nonimmigrant visa  type. Please note that only the application fees for nonimmigrant visas are listed here.Payment InformationAlthough fees are listed in U.S. dollars, payment must be made using local currency. More information about payment options RestrictionsYour visa application fee is non-refundable and you cannot transfer  it to another person. You will receive a receipt after paying the  application fee. This receipt is valid for one year from the date of  payment and allows you to schedule your interview at the U.S. Embassy or  Consulate. You must schedule your interview while the receipt is valid,  which means your interview must be booked within one year of paying  your fee. If you do not schedule an interview within a year of payment  then your receipt will expire, you will not be able to schedule an  interview, and you must pay the fee again and begin the process anew.Visa Types and Application Fee AmountsThe application fees are listed below and apply to one visa  application. The application fee for the most common nonimmigrant visa  types is $160. This includes tourist, business, student, and exchange  visas. Most petition-based visas, such as work and religious visas, are  US$190. K visas cost US$265 and the fee amount for E visas is US$205 The  tables below are a more comprehensive list of visa types and fee  amounts.sourceApply for a U.S. Visa

Do American tourists in Spain have to wait 3 months before returning for another 3 months?

Your basic understanding about the Schengen region is correct, and Spain as a Schengen signer complies with the those restrictions.  Your wife, as an American, can only be in the Schengen region for 90 days within every 180 consecutive day period.  To be more specific, you wife not only has to leave Spain, she cannot travel to another Schengen country (say, Portugal or France for example) and just turn around and return the next day to Spain.  However, Ireland and the UK are outside of the Schengen region and she could go there.Laura Hale, an American married to a Spaniard, can probably address your specific concerns more directly since she has been there, and done that - she may even have the T-Shirt to show for it.I sincerely hope everything works out for the two of you.

Where to travel in South America?

I highly agree with the first response, do not try to fit too much in one month. I would even recommend sticking to one country. Each country is awesome in its own way and you will gain a lot more from your travels if you take it a little slower. Also, everyones experience is so different make sure to take everyones experiences with a grain of salt.

Based on my experiences...

1. Chile and Argentina are both full of amazing natural wonders. Culturally the people are extremely nice however both countries are first world (although patagonia and the north is a little more interesting). Traveling is easy and tourism is developed. I spent 3 months in patagonia and another few weeks exploring northern chile/argentina. Patagonia is a must but make sure to check the seasons.

2. In my opinion Peru has the best of everything, culture, high altitude mountains for trekking, canyons, jungle, interesting history, beaches, and decent south american cuisine. You can easily spend a month exploring this amazing country.

3. I also agree that Colombia is quickly climbing to the top of gringos lists. Its a lot safer than it used to be and the people/culture are by far the most lively and friendly. You can also trek here, take jungle trips, and soak in the sun on the carribean.

Good luck. I would look to the seasons to help determine where you go. Patagonia season ends in April so unless you're planning this for right now or next year patagonia may have to wait. The raining season will also be starting in the north.

One last note, practice some spanish before you go, the locals expect you to know the basics and being able to communicate will make the trip even more rewarding.

What is a cost effective way to rent a car in the US for 3 months with unlimited miles allowed?

I found several links just by Googling it.  As for cost-effectiveness, I suggest comparing info between multiple providers and using that to negotiate a better deal.Long Term Car RentalMonthly Car Rentals by HertzCar Rental Mini-Lease Program
