How muscular can a 17 year old male get?

They already are just as muscular, but I assume you mean buff, they can get rather buff depending on their testosterone levels and whether or not they have gone through puberty or not. To get buff, work out different parts of you body daily. Arms one day, legs the second, and abdomen the third, then cycle through them, this allows one muscle group to rest. If you over work the muscles in an area it can easily tear them causes you to loose all progress you may have made. Make sure you stay hydrated drink plenty of water and salt and potassium. Eat more protein, in either meat or whey, but DO NOT eat soy protein. Soy contains phytoestrogens with mimic the female sex hormone estrogen, and will promote feminine qualities in your body, which definitely isn't body building. Soy is rich in trypsin inhibitors. Trypsin is a digestive enzyme we need to properly digest protein. Soy is also goitrogenic, which means it messes with your thyriod gland which controls your hormones, including the one necessary to build muscle, Testosterone. Don't forget to mix lifting with cardio, if you do about an hour or more of cardio it will reduce your fat leaving your muscles defined and 'cut'.

Do U.S Marines get big and muscular?

Like others have said, it matters how you are built to begin with. Some people are never going to have large muscle mass. Other people are never going to have a 6 pack. The saying goes "There are 2 types of Marines: big and mean, and skinny and mean". It's true. The majority of Marines are actually the skinny type, because the Marine Corps focuses on strength and aerobic ability. Your muscle bulk means exactly squat. Muscle mass doesn't make you fast. It doesn't give you endurance. And it doesn't mean that you can do your job any better. Aerobic performance and core strength do.

Specifically, infantry Marines while in garrison, will typically have more free time to hit the gym and get bulked up. Some guys like looking like that, some guys don't. Personally, my husband is one of the skinny ones. He has been in 16 years and is the same basic size as when he went in. He maxes out his PFT's, and CFT's. He does Ironman Triathlons, marathons, and other athletic events. He is 5'10" and 155lbs. He is the type that will never have a large build, and that has no impact on his ability to do his job, physically perform as a Marine, or compete athletically.

Being big and muscular means nothing, it just shows that you are genetically predisposed to have a larger build, and that you go to the gym a lot. And FYI, not THAT many women find a huge musclebound guy very attractive. It's nice to look at, but the majority of guys that look like that are too into staring at themselves in the mirror to worry about their woman.
