How Offten Are You Supposed To Get Your Eyes Checked

How often should you have your eyes checked?

Every two years is good (unless) you have diabetes where every year is a must.

How Often Should You Get Your Eyes Checked?

Oh, you should definitely get them checked! I think your actually supposed to get them checked every year... And even if your eyes are perfectly fine, you shouldn't feel embarrassed, just glad you don't have to wear goofy glasses!

But yeah, I thought I had perfect vision until my mum took me to the Opticians when I was around ten. It turns out I'm mildly-or-a-bit-more-so short-sighted (which explains all of the times when I couldn't read the board at school).

How often should one get their eyes checked if they've never been prescribed glasses/contacts?

It all depends on age.If it is child, the eye should examined once the child reach till age 2 and if some abnormality detected then according to doctor advice. If no abnormality then once 3 to 5 years interval is good enough for routine check up. Adults less than 40 years should have a routine eye exam once between 3 to 5 years interval.Eye exams more critical once you turned 40, after that routine eye exam once in two years should be done.In case Diabetes or Hypertension or both yearly routine eye exams are recommended. But remember in case of any eye abnormality please follow your ophthalmologist/Optometrist advice regarding next eye examination.

How often should you get an eye test?

Once a year, but if there is a marked down turn in your vision you should go right away, even if you've just gone.

How often do you get your vision checked?

I ask myself if you got some common disorder, say glaucoma, how long would I feel comfortable with you having it and neither of us knowing?I would say annually. But eyes are pretty stable between 20 and 40 years. Every other year, no more. I have only worked in a “fixer” office. We found and fixed problems others could not. All 12 of us had one super specialty, so my view is a little jaded.I have found significant glaucoma in a 10 year old. My specialty was eye / brain issues and cornea. I had a perfectly normal 27 y/o for her first exam ever. I had to keep reassuring her throughout the exam. I was almost done, saying yep everything is purrrr…. Oops! She had such a bad diabetic retinopathy, we had to blast 25% of her left eye. I felt terrible, but that’s why we do what we do. So it does happen, often, in our office.

How often should I have my eyes examined?

I wear glasses. I haven't had an eye exam since I got my current glasses and that was about 4 years ago. How often should I get them examined to see if I need a stronger/weaker prescription for my glasses?

When was the last time you had your eyes examined? How often should you go?

I get my eyes checked every year. It is actually time for me to make an appointment now. This is a habit I started when I was a licensed commercial driver. During my Department Of Transportation (DOT) physical every two years the nurse would do a routine vision screen but I wanted a good eye exam from my opthalmologist.I have developed Type II Diabetes as an older adult and it is well controlled. My primary care physician tracks my annual eyes exams as a part of my Diabetic Wellness Care. An annual eye exam is accepted protical for an adult with Diabetes.I am not sure what is recommended protical for a healthy adult. I do know this - my eye doctor is really booked when back to school season approaches and after it starts. They get a lot of teachers expressing concern about their student's potential vision problems so parents are bringing their children in. Lots of college students get eye exams before they return to college in the Fall.Bethany
