How Often Do You Talk To Your Elbow

Inner elbow pain?

You could have golfer's elbow, as I do in both elbows. I now use voice recognition software to type because it is too painful for me to type with my hands.

If I can impart any advice, stop doing things that hurt, which is often easier said than done.

Golfer's elbow is medial epicondylitis, or tendinitis of the tendon on the inside of your elbow. The tendon becomes inflamed from repetitive strain (weightlifting, typing, etc.) and that inflammation can pinch your ulnar nerve. Small tears can occur in the tendon, causing inflexible scar tissue to form, which causes pain whenever your forearm muscles pull on the tendon.

You should see a sports medicine specialist/orthopedic surgeon asap. They can get you into physical therapy and/or get you a cortisone shot to get rid of the inflammation. Only rest and time can heal your tendons, though, so ice them for now and do some stretches easily found online--just search for "golfer's elbow" and check out some of the sites that aren't trying to sell you quick relief. Alleve helps as well.

Good luck!

Why did I faint when I hit my elbow on a door?

If your funny bone or peroneal nerve (“knee’s funny bone”, just below the knee) is struck, a vasovagal response can be triggered. It can cause a person to faint within a few seconds (3–5) or to experience just the prodomes for up to several minutes. The prodomes are far worse than just passing out. The symptoms are slower pulse, increased or decreased blood pressure, ringing in ears, tunnel vision, sense of being smothered, inability to speak, dilated pupils, sweating, nausea. Generally, an intense feeling of impending death. When vasovagal syncope occurs, the person needs to drop to the ground and get legs above heart in order to restore normal blood flow. Sometimes this will prevent fainting. Most importantly, it prevents the person from a dangerous fall should fainting occur.

Whenever I talk to people, I unconsciously rub my hands, or elbows or things near me or I fidget. How can I stop this?

You can try mentally reassuring yourself. When people rub their hands or other parts of them like clothing or playing with their hair, it’s their way of comforting themselves, and is often done subconsciously. If you mentally reasure yourself or even just take a few deep breaths, it'll help calm you down. You can also try using pockets or hold something like your bag straps to help keep your hands occupied.

How often should I bathe a newborn?

First of all, it's important to know when to bathe your baby.WhenInterestingly, most babies do not need a bath every day. With their regular nappy changes and face-wiping after feeding, a bath every other day is usually enough. In fact, bathing your baby too often can dry out their skin. Bathing can be done at any time of day and it is best to start with sponge baths and avoid tub baths until your baby's umbilical cord falls off. What you needItems you will need for bathing your young baby include:Soft washcloths;Basin or clean sink;Towel;Thick towels or a bath cushion;Baby bathtub;Baby shampoo or soap, and;Clean nappy and clean clothes. Before giving your baby a bath, remember to:Have everything you need ready and within arm's reach;Clear the counter of any breakables and electrical appliances, and;Make sure the room is warm and there are no draughts. What not to doWhen bathing your baby, do NOT:Walk away from your baby, even for a moment;Use soaps and cleansers in the first month after birth;Add more hot water while your baby is in the tub;Use cotton buds in your baby's ears, as they can damage their eardrums;Scrub your baby. Why do my elbows hurt when I throw a punch?

Could be many things, most likely you hyper-extended your elbow. This typically happens when you lock your arm out completely during a punch or your partner goes to fast/hard during an arm bar.

Here are some questions that'll help me:
Does it hurt when your arms are at rest?
Does it hurt when you flex your biceps (such as doing a curl with weights)?
Does it hurt when you flex your triceps (fully extend arm)?
Does it hurt when your elbow cracks?
Is any part of your arm swollen or discolored?

These are the types of things that I would ask/figure out when diagnosing a patient.

Edit:
Lol that didn't really answer my question but okay. If you do ask your master and he practices Chinese medicine (all of my masters practice it along with Chinese M.A.) there's a good chance that he'll apply San Huang San to it. It's basically a cooling herb that is similar to ice, but without the damaging effects. As opposed to simply using coldness to reduce pain and inflammation it uses Yin energy and cooling effects. Other things he would possibly use are Tiger Balm or Dit Da Jow. In my opinion you should just use certain stretches and make sure there are no damages to your joint, joint capsule, muscles, or ligaments.

I have 3 stitches in my elbow and can't move my left arm, is this normal?

Hi AL

Sounds painful! Did they x-ray the cut? Depending on where the cut is it could have damaged a tendon or ligament. That could cause some difficulty you describe. Also possible is nerve damage. Do you have proper feeling below the cut clear down to your finger tips? Can you move your wrist and fingers? Sometimes people have a reaction to the tetanus shot that can cause that problem. I speak from experience on that! My arm took several days to be able to move and it HURT when it did finally move.

You need to talk to your doc. He will do a simple examination to test nerves and reflexes. What he observes will help define the causative factor. In the meantime, if you develop a fever, the cut worsens in color, the area becomes hot, you develop pus or streaks radiating from the cut seek immediate medical attention at a minor emergency center or ER.

How can i stop dropping my elbow when serving a volleyball?

You are probably telling yourself, "Don't drop that elbow!" The funny thing is that when we talk to ourselves, our brains filter out the negative part of the phrase. So your perception of your self-talk ends up being, "Drop the elbow."

So think of it another way. Tell yourself, "Elbow high." Phrase your self-talk in a positive way. Tell yourself, "I have a powerful serve." Do not say, "I'm going to have a powerful serve," because that keeps the event out in the future rather than having it now.

This may sound like silly mumbo-jumbo, but affirmations and positive visualization are a huge help in sports. Think of yourself as successful with this skill -- you have already demonstrated that you know how to do it correctly -- and you WILL be successful.

How long will it take to get my elbow length hair back?

Okay, so my hair was down to about my elbows, and now its just above my chest! I HATE IT! Anyway, I got it cut, because I wanted to get my layers to grow out and, I told my hair dresser how short I wanted it. Knowing she would cut it shorter then I wanted, I showed her where I wanted my hair, a lot longer then I planned on. So, I figured she would cut it to where I'd wanted it. Wrong. SHe took it way past where I showed her and way past where I wanted it! Now I'm crying because I miss my long hair! I want it back! Don't say get extensions, because they're so stupid and I will never get them! That being said, I just need to figure out what I'm going to do. I mean I know my hair isn't that short, comparative, but to me its short! How long does hair take to grow back? I want it back so bad. How can I get my hair to grow faster? How long will it take to grow back?!?!?!!!! :( :( :( :( :( I hate this so much!!

Why do we feel a shock like an electric current when our elbow is hurt on a specific point?

You have hit right on it, so to speak. The ulnar nerve runs along the ulna bone which forms part of the elbow joint. This is a large nerve that is not protected as it runs along the elbow. This can cause: loss of sensation, especially in your ring and little fingers, loss of coordination in your fingers, pain, tingling or burning in your hand, hand weakness, weakness that worsens with physical activity, and loss of grip strength. When it just a slight bump on this nerve, we call this our “funny bone”.When you hit your funny bone, it seems like the worst thing in the world, but imagine experiencing chronic irritation there, like someone banging on your funny bone day and night. It sounds like a method of torture you'd dream up in a revenge fantasy, but it's a very real problem called cubital tunnel syndrome.Muscle weakness in the forearm and hand can also set in, and the pinkie and ring finger can curl up in a position called the "ulnar claw." The condition can usually be helped with elbow splinting and the correction of aggravating postures, hand therapy or, in extreme cases, surgery that provides more space for the nerve and reduces the amount of pressure on it.
