When grooming a shih tzu how do you clean its butt area?
You need a decent pair of electric clippers. Hold her tail in one hand and CAREFULLY cut away at the hair. You may want to use a pair of scissors to cut away any feces which has become stuck in the hair (or wash it in a bath). This is what we did with our long coat Chis. Just cut a small circle. If your not showing her you can also trim her "pants" the hair that hangs down behind her legs.
Why does my butt smell after a hot day or a sporting event?
Wash your butt, your ENTIRE butt, the entire crack from top to bottom, and including where your poop comes out, at least 3 times every morning when you take a shower or a bath with soap. Once isn't enough. If after washing your butt 3 times in the shower you can still smell your butt on your fingers when you touch it, then you didn't get it clean enough, do it again, repeat the washing with soap until you can no longer smell your butt on your fingers when you touch it. That is when it will be totally clean. Then if you want, you can get some deodorant and spray it on back there, or roll it on or whatever when you dry your butt off and get out of the shower. It's really important that you get your butt, your entire butt, completely dry, too, after bathing or showering. Do this every single day.
